In this paper, we present an nonlinear PID controller with network based compensator which consists of a conventional PID controller that controls the linear components and neuro-compensator that controls the output errors and nonlinear components. This controller is based on the Harris's concept where he explained that the adaptive controller consists of the PID control term and the disturbance compensating term. The resulting controller's architecture is also found to be very similar to that of Wang's controller. This controller adds a self-tuning ability to the existing PID controller without replacing it by compensating the output errors through the neuro-compensator. Various simulations and comparative studies have proven that the proposed nonlinear PID controller produces superior results to other existing PID controllers. When applied to an actual magnetic levitation system which is known to be very nonlinear, it has also produced an excellent results.

This paper proposes a design method of fuzzy phase-lead compensator and its self-learning by neural network. The main feature of the fuzzy phase-lead compensator is to have parameters for effectively compensating phase characteristics of control systems. An important theorem which is related to phase-lead compensation is derived by introducing concept of frequency characteristics. We propose a design procedure of fuzzy phase-lead compensators for linear controlled objects. Furthermore, we realize a neuro-fuzzy compensator for unknown or nonlinear controlled objects by using Widrow-Hoff learning rule.
In the fuzzy control for the multi-variable system, it is difficult to obtain the fuzzy rule. Therefore, the parallel structure of the independent single input-single output fuzzy controller using a pairing between the input and output variable is applied to the multi-variable system. The concept of relative gain matrix is used to obtain the input-output pairs. However, among the input/output variables which are not paired the interactive effects should be taken into account. these mutual coupling of variables affect the control performance. Therefore, for the control system with a strong coupling property, the control performance is sometimes lowered. In this paper, the effect of mutual coupling of variables is considered by tile introduction of a simple compensator. This compensator adjusts the degree of coupling between variables using a neural network. In this proposed neuro-fuzzy controller, the Neural network which is realized by back-propagation algorithm, adjusts the mutual coupling weight between variables.

In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy-neuro controller to control the speed of wound rotor induction motor with slip energy recovery. The speed is limited at some range of sub-synchronous speed of the rotating magnetic field. Control speed by adjusting resistance value in the rotor circuit that occurs the efficiency of power are reduced, because of the slip energy is lost when it passes through the rotor resistance. The control system is designed to maintain efficiency of motor. Recently, the emergence of artificial neural networks has made it conductive to integrate fuzzy controllers and neural models for the development of fuzzy control systems, Fuzzy-neuro controller has been designed by integrating two neural network models with a basic fuzzy logic controller. Using the back propagation algorithm, the first neural network is trained as a plant emulator and the second neural network is used as a compensator for the basic fuzzy controller to improve its performance on-line. The function of the neural network plant emulator is to provide the correct error signal at the output of the neural fuzzy compensator without the need for any mathematical modeling of the plant. The difficulty of fine-tuning the scale factors and formulating the correct control rules in a basic fuzzy controller may be reduced using the proposed scheme. The scheme is applied to the control speed of a wound rotor induction motor process. The control system is designed to maintain efficiency of motor and compensate power factor of system. That is: the proposed controller gives the controlled system by keeping the speed constant and the good transient response without overshoot can be obtained.
This paper deals with the comparison of different control strategies for the Induction generators in wind energy conversion system. Mainly, two types of induction machines, Self excited induction generator (SEIG) and doubly Fed Induction generators (DFIG) are studied. The different control strategies for SEIG and DFIG are compared. For SEIG, Electronic load Controller mechanism, Static Compensator based voltage regulator are studied. For DFIG the main control strategy namely vector control, direct torque control and direct power control are implemented. Apart from these control strategies for both SEIG and DFIG to improve the performance, the ANFIS based controller is introduced in both STATCOM and DTC methods. These control methods are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and performances are analyzed and compared.

In this paper, PD-like visual servoing is modified in two ways: a sliding-mode observer is applied to estimate the joint velocities, and a RBF neural network is used to compensate the unknown gravity and friction. Based on Lyapunov method and input--to-state stability theory, we prove that PD-like visual servoing with the sliding mode observer and the neuro compensator is robust stable when the gain of the PD controller is bigger than the upper bounds of the uncertainties. Several simulations are presented to support the theory results.

In this paper, Neuro-Fuzzy Controller(NFC), a fuzzy system realized using a neural network, is to adopt for the multivariable system. In the multivariable system, the interactive effects between the variables should be taken into account. A simple compensator, using the steady-state information can be obtained for open-loop stable systems, is presented to cope with this problem. However, it should be supposed that the plant is unknown to the control system designer, but an estimate of the DC gain has been obtained by carrying out experiments on the plant. Also, if the variables are not combinated completely, it is difficult to design the controller. Therefore, we design a neuro-fuzzy controller which controls a multivariable system with only input output informations, and compare its performance with that of a PI controller. In the proposed controller, the construction of the membership functions and rule base, which is highly heuristic, can be achieved using a training process. This allows the combination of knowledge of human experts and evidence from input-output data.

In this paper, we design the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Precompensator(ANFP) for the suppression of low-frequency oscillation and the improvement of system stability. Here, ANFP is designed to compensate the conventional Power System Stabilizer(PSS). This design technique has the structural merit that is easily implemented by adding ANFP to an existing PSS. Firstly, the Fuzzy Precompensator with Loaming ability is constructed and is directly learned from the input and output data of the generating unit. Because the ANFP has the property of learning, fuzzy rules and membership functions of the compensator can be automatically tuned by teaming algorithm Loaming is based on the minimization of the ems evaluated by comparing the output of the ANFP and a desired controller. Case studies show the 7posed schema can be provided the good damping of the power system over the wide range of operating conditions and improved dynamic performance of the system.
