Experimental software datasets describing software projects in terms of their complexity and development time have been the subject of intensive modeling. A number of various modeling methodologies and modeling designs have been proposed including such approaches as neural networks, fuzzy, and fuzzy neural network models. In this study, we introduce the concept of the Rule-based fuzzy polynomial neural networks (RFPNN) as a hybrid modeling architecture and discuss its comprehensive design methodology. The development of the RFPNN dwells on the technologies of Computational Intelligence (CI), namely fuzzy sets, neural networks, and genetic algorithms. The architecture of the RFPNN results from a synergistic usage of RFNN and PNN. RFNN contribute to the formation of the premise part of the rule-based structure of the RFPNN. The consequence part of the RFPNN is designed using PNN. We discuss two kinds of RFPNN architectures and propose a comprehensive learning algorithm. In particular, it is shown that this network exhibits a dynamic structure. The experimental results include well-known software data such as the NASA dataset concerning software cost estimation and the one describing software modules of the Medical Imaging System (MIS).

This study proposes a deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model for heterogeneous big data integration, for which collaborative filtering and a neural-network algorithm are employed. The proposed model is used to apply an individual's importance or sensory level to formulate a recommendation using the decision-making feedback. The evolutionary recommendation model is based on the Deep Neural Network (DNN), which is useful for analyzing and evaluating the feedback data among various neural-network algorithms, and the DNN is combined with collaborative filtering. The designed model is used to extract health information from data collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model was compared with the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model to evaluate its performance. The RMSE is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. According to the comparative analysis, the accuracy of the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model is superior to that of the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model.
This paper is concerned with the modeling and identification of sequencing batch reactor (SBR) via genetic algorithm based polynomial neural network (GA-based PNN). The model describes a biological SBR used in the wastewater treatment process fur nitrogen removal. A conventional polynomial neural network (PNN) is applied to construct a predictive model of SBR process fur nitrogen removal before. But the performances of PNN depend strongly on the number of input variables available to the model, the number of input variables and type (order) of the polynomials to each node. They must be fixed by the designer in advance before the architecture is constructed. So the trial and error method must go with heavy computation burden and low efficiency. To alleviate these problems, we propose GA-based PNN. The order of the polynomial, the number of input variables, and the optimum input variables are encoded as a chromosome and fitness of each chromosome is computed. Simulation results have shown that the complex SBR process can be modeled reasonably well by the present scheme with a much simpler structure compared with the conventional PNN model.
In general, Evoluationary Algorithm(EAs) are refered to as methods of population-based optimization. And EAs are considered as very efficient methods of optimal sytem design because they can provice much opportunity for obtaining the global optimal solution. This paper presents a co-evolution scheme of artifical neural networks, which has two different, still cooperatively working, populations, called as a host popuation and a parasite population, respectively. Using the conventional generatic algorithm the host population is evolved in the given environment, and the parastie population composed of schemata is evolved to find useful schema for the host population. the structure of artificial neural network is a diagonal recurrent neural netork which has self-feedback loops only in its hidden nodes. To find optimal neural networks we should take into account the structure of the neural network as well as the adaptive parameters, weight of neurons. So we use the genetic algorithm that searches the structure of the neural network by the co-evolution mechanism, and for the weights learning we adopted the evolutionary stategies. As a results of co-evolution we will find the optimal structure of the neural network in a short time with a small population. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method are inspected by applying it to the stabilization and position control of the invered-pendulum system. And we will show that the result of co-evolution is better than that of the conventioal genetic algorithm.

In this paper, experimental studies of a neural network (NN) control technique for non-model based position control of the x-y table robot are presented. Decentralized neural networks are used to control each axis of the x-y table robot separately. For an each neural network compensator, an inverse control technique is used. The neural network control technique called the reference compensation technique (RCT) is conceptually different from the existing neural controllers in that the NN controller compensates for uncertainties in the dynamical system by modifying desired trajectories. The back-propagation learning algorithm is developed in a real time DSP board for on-line learning. Practical real time position control experiments are conducted on the x-y table robot. Experimental results of using neural networks show more excellent position tracking than that of when PD controllers are used only.

Object classification is one of the main fields in neural networks and has attracted the interest of many researchers. Although there have been vast advancements in this area, still there are many challenges that are faced even in the current era due to its inefficiency in handling large data, linguistic and dimensional complexities. Powerful hardware and software approaches in Neural Networks such as Deep Neural Networks present efficient mechanisms and contribute a lot to the field of object recognition as well as to handle time series classification. Due to the high rate of accuracy in terms of prediction rate, a neural network is often preferred in applications that require identification, segmentation, and detection based on features. Neural networks self-learning ability has revolutionized computing power and has its application in numerous fields such as powering unmanned self-driving vehicles, speech recognition, etc. In this paper, the experiment is conducted to implement a neural approach to identify numbers in different formats without human intervention. Measures are taken to improve the efficiency of the machines to classify and identify numbers. Experimental results show the importance of having training sets to achieve better recognition accuracy.
Network based intrusion detection system is a computer network security tool. In this paper, we present an intrusion detection system based on Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) and Resilient Propagation Neural Network (RPROP) for visualizing and classifying intrusion and normal patterns. We introduce a cluster matching equation for finding principal associated components in component planes. We apply data from The Third International Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Tools Competition (KDD cup'99) for training and testing our prototype. From our experimental results with different network data, our scheme archives more than 90 percent detection rate, and less than 5 percent false alarm rate in one SYN flooding and two port scanning attack types.
This paper aims to exploit inter/intra-speaker phoneme sub-class variations as criteria for adaptation in a phoneme recognition system based on a novel neural network architecture. Using a subcluster neural network design based on the One-Class-in-One-Network (OCON) feed forward subnets, similar to those proposed by Kung (2) and Jou (1), joined by a common front-end layer. the idea is to adapt only the neurons within the common front-end layer of the network. Consequently resulting in an adaptation which can be concentrated primarily on the speakers vocal characteristics. Since the adaptation occurs in an area common to all classes, convergence on a single class will improve the recognition of the remaining classes in the network. Results show that adaptation towards a phoneme, in the vowel sub-class, for speakers MDABO and MWBTO Improve the recognition of remaining vowel sub-class phonemes from the same speaker
