The Parallel ANN(Artificial Neural Network) Simulator using Mobile Agent (이동 에이전트를 이용한 병렬 인공신경망 시뮬레이터)

  • The objective of this paper is to implement parallel multi-layer ANN(Artificial Neural Network) simulator based on the mobile agent system which is executed in parallel in the virtual parallel distributed computing environment. The Multi-Layer Neural Network is classified by training session, training data layer, node, md weight in the parallelization-level. In this study, We have developed and evaluated the simulator with which it is feasible to parallel the ANN in the training session and training data parallelization because these have relatively few network traffic. In this results, we have verified that the performance of parallelization is high about 3.3 times in the training session and training data. The great significance of this paper is that the performance of ANN's execution on virtual parallel computer is similar to that of ANN's execution on existing super-computer. Therefore, we think that the virtual parallel computer can be considerably helpful in developing the neural network because it decreases the training time which needs extra-time.

  • In this paper, fuzzy-neural network is proposed to identify the Activated Sludge Process(A.S.P) in sewage treatment such as "IF-THEN" type fuzzy rules and using various learning methods and improved complex method, the performance index of the identified model is improved. The proposed FNN has the neural network structure of which the connection weights have particular meanings for obtaining fuzzy inference rules and for tuning membership functions. And based on the identified model, graphic simulator which can analize nonlinear characteristics of A.S.P and generate control strategy for A.S.P is being developed.developed.

  • We diagnosed the defect using the data obtained from the nuclear power plant simulator. In this paper, we diagnosed faults in the nuclear power plant system for discovery instead of the traditional single-component or device unit. We created the six fault scenarios and used a fault simulator to obtain the fault data. It was extracted pattern from acquired failure data. Neural network model was trained and simple pattern matching algorithm was applied. We presented a simulation result and confirmed that the applied algorithm works correctly.

  • Different methods exist for the estimation of thermaldeformation of plates in the line heating process. These are based on the assumption of residual strains in the heat-affected zone, known as the method of inherent strains, or simulated relations between heating conditions and residual deformations. The purpose of this paper is to develop a simulator of thermal deformation in the line heating, using the artificial neural network. Curvature deformations for the plate-forming are investigated, which can be used as a prime deformation parameter in the process. The curvature of plates are calculated using the approximation of plate surface by NURBS. Line heating experiments for 11 specimens of different thickness and heating conditions were performed. Two neural networks predicting the maximum temperature and curvature deformations at the heating line are studied. It was concluded that the thermal deformations predicted by the neural network can be used in a line heating simulator, which is considered an attractive and practical alternative to the existing methods.

  • This paper discusses applications of neural network to stand stocking control problems. The scope of this research was to develop a neural network model for finding optimal stand management regimes and examining the performance of the model for field application. Performance was analyzed in consideration of the number of training examples and structural aspects of neural network. Research on network performance was based on extensive optimization studies for pure longleaf pine(Pinus palustris) stands. For experimental purposes. an existing nonlinear even-aged stand optimization model with a whole-stand growth and yield simulator was used to generate data samples required for the performance analysis.

  • A graphic software is one of the most important components of the vehicle simulator. To increase a visual reality of the simulator, the graphic software should require several technologies such as three-dimensional graphics, graphic modeling of the vehicle and the environment, drivers biomechanical models, and real-time data processing. This study presents a real time graphic driving simulator of a construction vehicle. The graphic simulator contains the three models of the construction vehicle, the human, and the environment, and employes a neural network approach to decrease an on-line dynamic computation. An excavator model is represented using an object-oriented paradigm and contains the detailed information about a real-size vehicle. The human model is introduced for objective visual evaluations of the developed excavator model. Since the environment model plays an important role in a real-time simulator, a block-based approach is implemented and a text format is utilized for easier construction of environment. The simulation results are illustrated in order to demonstrate the applicability of developed models and the neural network approach.

  • This paper describes a lateral guidance system of an autonomous vehicle, using a neural network model of magneto-resistive sensor and magnetic fields. The model equation was compared with experimental sensing data. We found that the experimental result has a negligible difference from the modeling equation result. We verified that the modeling equation can be used in simulations. As the neural network controller acquires magnetic field values(B$\_$x/, B$\_$y/, B$\_$z/) from the three-axis, the controller outputs a steering angle. The controller uses the back-propagation algorithms of neural network. The learning pattern acquisition was obtained using computer simulation, which is more exact than human driving. The simulation program was developed in order to verify the acquisition of the teaming pattern, teaming itself, and the adequacy of the design controller. The performance of the controller can be verified through simulation. The real autonomous electric vehicle using neural network controller verified good results.

  • Recently, the research on intelligence of computer has actively been under way in various areas and gradually extended to adapt to uncertain and complex environments. In this paper, we propose the MVL-Neural Valued Logic. Also, we verify that the MVL-Automata can be implemented to Neural Network and the MVL-Neural Network Model can be a simulator by MVL-Automata. Therefore, we propose that the MVL-Neural Network Model can be widely used in such area, as intelligent system or modeling of brain. In particular, the MVL-Neural Network is expected to be used as core technology of next generation computer.

  • Simulation output knowledge analysis is one of problem-solving and/or knowledge adquistion process by investgating the system behavior under study through simulation . This paper describes an approach to simulation outputknowldege analysis using fuzzy neural network model. A fuzzy neral network model is designed with fuzzy setsand membership functions for variables of simulation model. The relationship between input parameters and output performances of simulation model is captured as system behavior knowlege in a fuzzy neural networkmodel by training examples form simulation exepreiments. Backpropagation learning algorithms is used to encode the knowledge. The knowledge is utilized to solve problem through simulation such as system performance prodiction and goal-directed analysis. For explicit knowledge acquisition, production rules are extracted from the implicit neural network knowledge. These rules may assit in explaining the simulation results and providing knowledge base for an expert system. This approach thus enablesboth symbolic and numeric reasoning to solve problem througth simulation . We applied this approach to the design problem of broadband communication network.

  • We develop a neural network control algorithm for the ACS (Advanced Control System). The ACS is an extended version of the DCS (Distributed Control System) to which functions of fault detection and diagnosis and advanced control algorithms are added such as neural networks, fuzzy logics, and so on. In spite of its usefulness proven by computer simulations, the neural network control algorithm, as far as we know, has no tool which makes it applicable to process control. It is necessary that the neural network controller should be turned into the function code for its application to the ACS. So we develop a general method to implement the neural network control systems for the ACS. By simulations using the simulator for the boiler of 'Seoul fire power plant unit 4', the methodology proposed in this paper is validated to have the applicability to process control.
