  • This Paper proposes the architecture of WDM(wavelength division multiplexed) based large scale photonic packet switch network, which is composed of the FC(frequency converter) and OM (output module). The features of the proposed WDM based photonic packet switch network are 2-stage switch network, and WDM based internal optical link that is connected between FC and OM. This paper evaluates the internal call blocking characteristics of the photonic packet switch network. In results, we confirmed that the proposed WDM based photonic packet switch network has the potentiality in the practical implementation.

  • The traffic characteristics of digital switch network depend on the structure, blocking probability, path searching method and etc. This paper presents the study of TDX-1 switch network traffic capacity by considering some decisive factors such as call processing software, switch network structure and control scheme. Conclusively the study shows that the switch network of TDX-1 can handle approximatly up to 1650 Erlang.

  • 본 논문에서 개발한 Z-Wave Mesh Network 방식을 이용한 홈네트워크 통합 디밍스위치는 현재 홈 네트워크 기술이 적용된 아파트를 대상으로 설치가 되고 있는 네트워크 방식의 스위치로써, 조명스위치 사용에 대한 시공자 설비의 편의성, 사용자의 조작 편의성 제공과 동체감지센서 및 광세기 검출센서를 이용한 조명의 효율적 제어를 통한 전력절감 효과가 기대되는 유무선 네트워크가 가능한 지능형 통합디밍 조명스위치이다. 본 논문에서 개발한 통합 디밍스위치의 유용성을 평가하기 위하여 실험시스템을 구현하였고, 부하성능 평가, 조명제어, 통신속도 면에서 우수한 성능을 보였다.

  • A switch is a component with two or more ports that selectively transmits, redirects, or blocks optical power in a fiber transmission line. Our switch uses rotation mechanism using stepping motor, hence the common optical fiber can scan and allign to one of the arrayed N optical fibers to provide optical path by electronic precise control. The developed switch is consisted of switching module and its control module. The performance parameters of a switching loss and a repeatability are considered very important. We performed the study to reduce the switching loss and improve the repeatability of switch. The switch can be widely used as a test instrument of optical device and of optical cable in factory, also of optical cable monitoring systems.

  • In this paper, a new large scale ATM switch architecture for Broadband ISDN is presented and its performance is analyzed mathematically. The proposed two-stage ATM switch consists of a sorting network and several unit switches. The proposed switch is self-routing and nonlocking. Its maximum through put is 100% without speed up which other output buffered switch needs. The hardware complexity mainly depends on that of a sorting network, but sorting network is easy to be implemented to VLSI because of its regularity in the structure.

  • This paper describes an interconnection network structure which transports information among processors through a high speed ATM switch. To efficiently use the high speed ATM switch for the message-based multiprocessor, we implemented the cell router that performs multiplexing and demultiplexing of cells from/to processors. In this system, we use the expanded internal cell format including 3bytes for switch routing information. This interconnection network has 3 stage routing strategies: ATM switch routing using switch routing information, cell router routing using a virtual path identifier (VPI) and cell reassembly routing using a virtual channel indentifier (VCI). The interconnection network consists of the NxN folded switch and N cell routers with the M processor interface. Therefore, the maximum number of NxM processors can be interconnected for message communication. This interconnection network using the ATM switch makes a significant improvement in terms of message passing latency and scalability. Additionally, we evaluated the transmission overhead in this interconnection network using ATM switch.

  • This paper evaluates the VSN(Virtual switch Network) characteristics in the internal call processing of IMT-2000 switching system, which is composed of VSN instead of ATM switch network. In results, internal call establishment delay is increased approximately 5.4msec than the conventional ATM switching system. The evaluated condition is the load 0.8, and the 100km distance between VSNs. It is confirmed that the VSN has the potentiality in the practical implementation.

  • 스위치 형식의 네트워크이 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 그것은 높은 네트워크 성능을 요구하는 환경에 매우 적합하기 때문이다. 일반적인 공유매체 지역 네트워크는 만족할 만한 처리율과 지연시간을 제공하지 못한다. 특히 멀티미디어 어플리케이션이 증가하면서 통신 성능이 보다 중요시 되고 있다. 이러한 환경에서 스위치 형식의 네트워크는 우수한 성능을 보인다.스위치 형식의 네트워크는 높은 대역폭과 낮은 처리 시간을 얻을 수 있다. 따라서 스위치 형식의 지역네트워크를 구성할 때 고속(high-speed)의 스위치가 중요하다. 효율적인 스위치 디자인이 스위치 형식의 네트워크 성능을 향상시키는 중요한 요소인 것이다. 또한 멀티캐스트 메시지 처리의 중요성이 높아지면서, 효과적인 멀티캐스트를 지원하는 스위치의 설계가 필요하다. 기존의 컷-스루(cut-through) 스위칭 기술(switching technique)에서는 스위치 원소(switch element)의 구조를 변경시켜 데드락을 피하면서 멀티캐스팅이 가능하게 하였다. 그러나 처리율의 저하와 스위치 크기의 증가의 문제를 안고 있다. 따라서 하드웨어적으로 유니캐스트와 멀티캐스트를 분리함으로써 효율적인 멀티캐스팅을 가능하게 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 구조를 통해 멀티캐스팅에 있어서 성능 향상을 보이는 스위치 구조를 제안한다.

  • In this paper, we design the Sorting-Banyan network with an efficient buffer and sorting management schema that makes switch be capable of supporting delay sensitive as well as loss sensitive. The proposed switching network is remodeled that based on Batcher-banyan network that have eight input and output ports The structure of designed switching network is constructed of modified banyan network with 2-way routing paths and two plane sorting networks. we have analysed the maximum throughput of the switch, under the uniform random traffic load, the FIFO discipline has increased by about 11% when we compare the switching system with the input buffering system.

  • In this paper, we propose the improved structure of fully interconnected ATM Switch to develop the small sized switch element and represent practical implementation of switch network. As the part II of the full study about structure and implementation of fully interconnected ATM Switch, this paper especially describes the implementation of an ATM switching element with 8 input port and 8 output port at 155 Mbits/sec each. The single board switching element is used as a basic switching block in a small sized ATm switch for ATM LAN Hub and customer access node. This switch has dedicated bus in 12 bit width(8 bit data + 4 bit control signal) at each input and output port, bit addressing and cell filtering scheme. In this paper, we propose a practical switch architecture with fully interconnected buses to implement a small-sized switch and to provide multicast function withoutany difficulty. The design of switching element has become feasible using advanced CMOS technology and Embedded Gate Array technology. And, we also represent Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC) of Switch Output Multiplexing Unit(SOMU) and 12 layered Printed Circuit Board for interconnection network of switch.
