  • This study examines the structural relationship between parents' positive and negative parenting attitudes, life satisfaction, and academic helplessness. To this end, 2,595 middle school students (1,405 boys and 1,185 girls) were used among the KCYPS 2018 panel materials. The model was validated using a structural equation model, and the verification of the mediated effects of life satisfaction was significant with bootstraps. The results of the study are as follows. First, the positive and negative parenting attitudes of parents have a significant impact on life satisfaction. These results can be interpreted as having an impact on the lives of adolescent children, depending on their parenting attitudes. Second, the positive and negative parenting attitudes of parents have a significant impact on academic helplessness. These results can be interpreted as having an effect on the academic performance of adolescent children depending on their parenting attitudes. Third, satisfaction in life has a significant adverse effect on academic helplessness. These results can be interpreted as having a positive impact on studies according to the satisfaction level of youth's life, and having a negative impact on studies if life satisfaction is high and life satisfaction is low. Fourth, the satisfaction of life is mediated between parents' positive and negative parenting attitudes and academic helplessness. Through this study, it is meaningful in that it allows parents to understand the process of life satisfaction affecting their academic helplessness according to their parenting attitudes.

  • This study aims to identify the factors influencing residents' satisfaction for the urban regeneration projects in South Korea. Data were collected from 250 people with self-administrated questionnaires. A factor analysis identified three factors which are positive economic impacts, negative social impact, and positive environment impact. The positive economic impact has the highest variance explained. Results showed that high income and students and unemployed are less like to be satisfied with their community life. And whereas negative social impacts are less likely to have community satisfaction, positive economic impacts are more likely to have community satisfaction. This study suggested that community leaders and policy makers should consider perceived impacts and income when implementing development projects.

  • We study the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) of Asian four countries such as Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and China on housing market returns in Korea. Also, we document the relationship between the EPU index of those four countries and the housing market including macroeconomic indicators in Korea. The EPU index of those four countries has significantly a negative effect on the housing purchase price index, housing lease price index in Korea. The EPU index in Korea and Japan has significantly a negative effect on the CPI. The EPU index in only Japan has significantly a negative effect on the PPI. The EPU index in Hong Kong and Korea has significantly a negative effect but the EPU index in China significantly has a positive effect on the stock price index in construction industry. The EPU index in only Korea has significantly a negative effect the stock price index in banking industry. This study shows the EPU index of the Korea has the negative relationships on the housing market economy rather than other countries by VECM. And this study has an important evidence of the spillover of several macroeconomic indicators in Korea for the EPU index of the Asian four countries.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact factors on the happiness of teenagers using local children centers. To this end, 424 people were sampled and hierarchical regression methods were used using data from the 10th year of the Korea Children's Center Panel Study. The results are as follows. First, self-esteem and peer relation and service help in adolescents are found to have a static effect on happiness, of which self-esteem has the highest impact. Second, adolescent depression and negative parenting attitude have been shown to have a negative effect on happiness, and depression has a stronger negative impact than parents' negative parenting attitude. Accordingly, this study aims to highlight positive factors of influence and suggest alternatives for applying them to local children centers by developing various programs that can reduce negative factors in order to enhance the happiness of adolescents.

  • This study aimed to explore residents' perceptions towards Kangwon Land Casino. An on-site survey was conducted for residents in the casino communities using self-administered questionnaires. Completed questionnaires were obtained from 191 residents in the study area. A factor-clustering method identified four distinct segments: positive perceived impact residents (52.8%), negative perceived impact residents (11.3%), unconcerned residents (28.9%), and selectively perceived impact residents (6.9%). Results showed that women and younger residents are more likely to perceive positive impact with casino development. Men, middle-aged residents and farmers are more likely to perceive negative impact with casino development. White-collar business-class residents are more likely to perceive the impact selectively with casino development. We suggest that the stakeholders including public bodies on casino industry development boards share with local residents information on the economic benefits and other topics related to the casino business.

  • This study investigates the impact of tweets on box office revenue. Specifically, the study focuses on the times when tweets were written by examining the impact of pre- and post-consumption tweets on box office revenue; an examination that is based on Expectation Confirmation Theory. The study also investigates the impact of intention tweets versus subjective tweets and the impact of negative tweets on box office revenue. Targeting 120 movies released in the US between February and August 2012, this study collected tweet information on a daily basis from two weeks before the opening until the closing and box office revenue information. The results indicate that the disconfirmation that occurs in relation to the total number of pre-consumption tweets for a movie has a negative impact on box office revenue. This premise suggests that the formation of higher expectations of a movie does not always result in positive results in situations where tweets on perceived movie quality after watching spread rapidly. This study also reveals that intention tweets have stronger effects on box office revenue than subjective tweets.

  • Small and medium businesses (SMEs) play a critical role in the economy, yet they are plagued by a shortage of finance. Determining the influence of cash sources both inside and outside the firm is critical to the company's survival and growth. As a result, the purpose of this research is to determine the impact of capital on the growth of SMEs in Vietnam. The key factors of this research are equity and liabilities, which are two proxies for a firm's capital. The data is based on the results of a survey conducted every two years from 2005 to 2015, which included over 2,600 SMEs in 20 processing and manufacturing industries in ten provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tay, Phu Tho, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and Long An. The findings show that characteristics such as equity capital, total workforce growth rate, and male entrepreneurs have a positive impact on enterprise growth, whereas liabilities, firm age, and export have a negative impact on enterprise growth. The study has demonstrated that equity has a positive impact while liabilities have a negative impact on the growth of Vietnamese SMEs.
