  • The paper proposes a practical meshless method for the free vibration analysis of clamped plates having arbitrary shapes by extending the non-dimensional dynamic influence function (NDIF) method, which was developed by the author in 1999. In the proposed method, the domain and boundary of the plate of interest are discretized using only nodes without elements unlike FEM and the system matrices are obtained by making domain nodes and boundary nodes satisfy the governing differential equation and boundary conditions, respectively. However, since the above system matrices are not square ones, the problem of free vibrations of clamped plates is not reduced to an algebraic eigenvalue problem. An additional theoretical treatment is considered to produce an algebraic eigenvalue problem. It is revealed from case studies that the proposed method is valid and accurate.

  • A simplified modeling approach of free vibration for occupied car seats was demonstrated to be feasible. The model consisting of interconnected masses springs and dampers was initially broken down into subsystems and experiments conducted to determine approximate values for model parameters. Which were each stiffness and damping value. Nonlinear equations of motion were derived and model parameters obtained in experiments were applied to these equations. A mathematical model of free vibration for car seat and mannequin system was built with 7 degrees of freedom. in order to calculate natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes. linear equations of motion were obtained through linearization. In order to explore the effects of each model parameter free vibration analysis were preformed.

  • This paper is concerned with thermo-mechanical vibration behavior of flexoelectric/piezoelectric nanobeams under uniform and linear temperature distributions. Flexoelectric/piezoelectric nanobeams have higher natural frequencies compared to conventional piezoelectric ones, especially at lower thicknesses. Both nonlocal and surface effects are considered in the analysis of flexoelectric/piezoelectric nanobeams for the first time. Hamilton's principle is employed to derive the governing equations and the related boundary conditions which are solved applying a Galerkin-based solution. Comparison study is also performed to verify the present formulation with those of previous data. Numerical results are presented to investigate the influences of the flexoelectricity, nonlocal parameter, surface elasticity, temperature rise, beam thickness and various boundary conditions on the vibration frequencies of thermally affected flexoelectric/piezoelectric nanobeam.

  • A modeling method for the modal analysis of a rotating cross-ply composite beam based on Timoshenko beam theory is presented. To analyze the composite beam exactly, the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia are included. Linear differential equations of motion are derived using the assumed mode method. For the modeling, hybrid deformation variables are employed and approximated to derive the equations of motion. The effects of the dimensionless angular velocity and the slenderness ratio parameter on the variations of modal characteristics are investigated

  • This study predicts the modified structure of eigenvectors and eigenvalues due to the changes in the mass and the stiffness of the structure. The sensitivity method of natural frequency using partial differential are derived with respect to the physical parameter to calculate the structure modification. The method are applied to the 3 degree of freedom???slumped mass model by modeling the mass and stiffness, and then applies the method to a real crankshaft system. The position, direction of parameter change and modified value were predicted for modification. Finally the predicted value is used to investigate the magnitude of vibration and we found that the effect of modification results to reduce the level of magnitude vibration is satisfactory.

  • The focus of this study is modeling technique for a bellows in vehicle exhaust system. Bellows was developed using tile finite element model by replacing with the equivalent beam. The equivalent beam model were studied in detail. Non-structural node in the cross section of original model is given to expressing their motion. Equivalent mass matrix and stiffness matrix calculated using Guyan reduction method. Material Properties of beam was obtained from the direct comparison between equivalent model and that of Timoshenko beam model. The calculated natural frequencies and mode shape are compared with the reference results and coincided well. The results were compared with the confirmed results, which were in good agreement.

  • Modal characteristics of a cracked beam with a concentrated mass undergoing rotational motion are investigated in this paper. Hybrid deformation variables are employed to derive the equations of motion of a rotating cantilever beam. The flexibility due to crack, which is assumed to be open during the vibration, is calculated basing on a fracture mechanics theory. To obtain more general information, the equations of motion are transformed into a dimensionless form in which dimensionless parameters are identified. The effects of the dimensionless parameters related to the angular speed, the depth and location of a crack and the size and location of a concentrated mass on the modal characteristics of the beam are investigated numerically.

  • We performed a free vibration analysis of skew composite laminates with or without cutout based on the high-order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT). The effects of skew angles and ply orientations on the natural frequencies for various boundary conditions are studied using a nonlinear high-order finite element program developed for this study. The numerical results are in good agreement with those reported by other investigators for simple test cases, and the new results reported in this paper show the interactions between the skew angle, layup sequence and cutout size on the free vibration of the laminate. The findings highlight the importance of skew angles when analyzing laminated composite skew plates with cutout or without cutout.

  • In this research, buckling and free vibration of rectangular polymeric laminate reinforced by graphene sheets are investigated. Various patterns are considered for augmentation of each laminate. Critical buckling load is evaluated for different parameters, including boundary conditions, reinforcement pattern, loading regime, and laminate geometric states. Furthermore, vibration analysis is investigated for square laminate. Elastic properties of the composite are calculated using a combination of both molecular dynamics (MD) and the rule of mixture (MR). Kinematics of the plate is approximated based on the first shear deformation theory (FSDT). The current analysis is performed based on the energy method. For the numerical investigation, Ritz method is applied, and for shape functions, Chebyshev polynomials are utilized. It is found that the number of layers is effective on the buckling load and natural frequency of laminates which made from non-uniform layers.

  • The vibration characteristic analysis of sandwich cylindrical shells subjected with magnetorheological (MR) elastomer and constraining layer are considered in this study. And, the discrete finite element method is adopted to calculate the vibration and damping characteristics of the sandwich cylindrical shell system. The effects of thickness of the MR elastomer, constraining layer, applied magnetic fields on the vibration characteristics of the sandwich shell system are also studied in this paper. Additionally, the rheological properties of the MR elastomer can be changed by applying various magnetic fields and the properties of the MR elastomer are described by complex quantities. The natural frequencies and modal loss factor of the sandwich cylindrical shells are calculated for many designed parameters. The core layer of MR elastomer is found to have significant effects on the damping behavior of the sandwich cylindrical shells.
