  • Vibrations of a fan are often generated by mechanical unbalance magnetic force and air flow. These vibrations depend on the design of a fan the machining accuracy of each element and assembled conditions. An experimental study is carried out to reduce the vibration and noise of an industrial fan in this paper. In order to identify the vibration sources of a fan the signal analysis and system analysis are performed, It is shown that the industrial fan studied in this paper has a natural frequency at 144 Hz and resonance occurs when the running speed of the fan is 1750 rpm. The results may be helpful to design a fan with low vibration and noise.

  • A provision crane is generally installed on the upper deck to the rear of the accommodation of the ship in order to load and unload engine part or something heavy. There are two types of provision cranes: one is jib-type and the other is monorail-type. So the natural frequency of the jib-type crane equipment is low, therefore, there are some possibility of resonance between crane structure and the main excitation sources of the ship in normal operating range. This study describe a vibration reduction technique for provision crane by applying a proper countermeasure through finite element analysis and modal test. In order to find out weak point in design of provision crane, a sensitive analysis has been performed.

  • The vibration analysis of a rotating cantilever beam with tip mass was studied by using DTM(differential transformation method). DTM is one of the numerical methods, for finding series solutions by transforming differential equations to algebraic ones similar with Laplace transform. The advantages of the DTM are that it is easy to understand and is effective in finding numerical solutions. Applying DTM, the natural frequencies of a rotating cantilever beam were obtained taking into consideration the effects of tip mass. Also, convergence study of DTM was performed to decide the number of terms used in eigenvalue problems. Numerical results obtained by DTM show good agreement with those by other methods. As a result, it is expected that DTM can be a useful method in vibration analysis such as that of a rotating cantilever beam with tip mass.

  • The vibration of a mask degrades the color purity in CRT. In order to reduce the vibration. a damping wire is put into contact with the mask in the Flatron. We analyzed the vibration of the mask considering the damping wire using FEM. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of the mask are calculated by modal analysis. And those are compared with the measured results to confirm our finite element model. The modal analysis of the wire is also performed to investigate resonance with the mask. Finally, the transient dynamic analysis of the mask contacting with the wire is performed. The vibration of the mask is measured to confirm our analysis, and the results are in good agreement with the analysis.

  • Asymmetric beams cause complicated vibration phenomena due to the inherent bending-torsion coupled vibration. In this paper, an exact dynamic element matrix for the bending-torsion coupled vibration of asymmetric beam is derived. An application of the derived exact dynamic element matrix is demonstrated by an illustrative example, wherein the natural frequencies by the proposed modeling method are compared with those available in the literature. Another numerical example is also illustrated which deals with a general beam with joints. The numerical study shows that the exact dynamic element model is useful for the dynamic analysis of asymmetric bending-torsion coupled beams.

  • This paper is concerned with the free vibration analysis of a circular plate with an eccentric circular hole by the Independent coordinate coupling method(ICCM). It was proved in the previous study that the ICCM can accurately predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the annular plates and can also be used for the free vibration analysis of the simply-supported circular plate with an eccentric circular hole. In this study, the clamped and free boundary conditions were considered for the circular plate. The numerical results show that the ICCM can be used effectively for the free vibration problem of circular plate with an eccentric hole compared to the finite element method.

  • This study analyze the dynamic response property of latticed domes according to natural frequency ratio of substructure. Through eigenvalue analysis, it is was confirmed that the half-open angle $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ dominate vibration mode of the vertical direction and the half-open angle $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ dominate vibration mode of the horizontal direction. Through the dynamic response analysis, it is was confirmed that the first frequency about total structure largely appears about the vertical and the horizontal direction regardless of half-open angle.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the beam aspect ratio(L/h), hole diameter, hole location and stacking layer sequence ($[0/45/-45/90]_s$, $[45/0/-45/90]_s$ and $[90/45/-45/0]_s$) on natural frequencies of glass/epoxy perforated beams under room and high (40, 60, 80, and $100^{\circ}C$) temperatures for the common clamped-free boundary conditions (cantilever beam). The first three out of plane bending free vibration of symmetric laminated beams is studied by Timoshenko's first order shear deformation theory. For the numerical analyses, ANSYS 13.0 software package is utilized. The results show that the hole diameter, stacking layer sequence and hole location have important effect especially on the second and third mode natural frequency values for the short beams and the high temperatures affects the natural frequency values significantly. The results are presented in tabular and graphical form.

  • This paper presents a design methodology for improving dynamic stiffness of an inspection robot frame to prevent resonance. Finite element models of robot frame are developed for natural frequency analysis. Natural frequency analysis of robot frame is conducted to compare with sub-span oscillation which is excitation frequency. Reinforcement beams are applied to the sensitive parts of the robot frame to improve dynamic stiffness using case study. To reduce mass of the robot frame, thickness optimization of the robot frame is carried out by utilizing response surface method. The result of optimization show that dynamic stiffness of robot frame is increased. As a result, natural frequency of an optimal model is not included in range of frequencies of the sub-span oscillation.
