Development and Analysis of the Effects of an Intercultural Citizenship Education Program

  • Recently, the intercultural approach, which aims to resolve social conflicts in multicultural societies through cultural encounters and dialogue, has been actively discussed. Intercultural education aims to foster smooth relationships and improve communication skills through interactions among various cultural groups. Analysis of previous studies has revealed the need for research on intercultural civic education programs targeted at adults. Therefore, this study was designed to develop an intercultural citizenship education program and to analyze its effects. For the study, previous research on interculturalism, intercultural citizenship education, and intercultural citizenship education programs was comprehensively analyzed. The developed intercultural citizenship education program was categorized into five major themes: understanding oneself and others, racism and hate speech, overcoming conflict and discrimination, breaking away from prejudice and stereotypes, and the future of our country. Subsequently, the program was implemented with 64 total second-year middle school students, 37 in the experimental group, and 27 in the control group, at an accredited lifelong educational institution in M City, South Jeolla Province. To analyze the effects of the education, an intercultural competency scale was used. The results showed that the intercultural citizenship education program for adult students was effective in conflict management, respect, communication, and reflection competencies, all at a statistically significant level. Finally, the authors compared the study results with previous research and discussed the findings. Findings indicated the necessity of enhancing multicultural citizenship awareness among adults and expanding teacher training in intercultural education. The program effectively improved intercultural competence among adult students, highlighting the importance of tailored educational content and active participation in discussions. Future research should ensure a balanced gender ratio among participants.

  • 현재 리모델링 시장은 전체 건설시장 규모에 비해 매우 적은 비중을 차지하고 있으나 점차 그 비중은 확대될 것으로 기대한다. 또한 공동주택 리모델링 시장은 자원의 재활용 및 수익성 측면에서도 재건축을 보완할 대체시장으로 부상할 것으로 예상한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 리모델링보다 재건축에 대한 선호도가 높은 이유는 재건축이 리모델링보다 경제성 측면에서 유리할 것이라는 막연한 기대감과함께 리모델링의 구조적 신뢰도 결여, 리모델링 평면의 제약, 리모델링 사업 수행 경험 부족 등에서 그 원인을 찾을 수 있다. 그러나 분석 결과와 같이 실제 사업성 측면에서 리모델링이 유리한 단지가 많을 것으로 예상되는 만큼 사업 주체인 조합에게 합리적인 사업성 분석을 통하여 자산 가치를 높이는 최적의 사업방안을 제시하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해 리모델링에 대한 포지셔닝 구축을 통한 합리적인 마케팅 방안 제시가 요구된다고 하겠다.

  • 우리나라의 철도산업 구조개혁 관련 논의는 1998년 철도청 경영진단을 시작으로 2005년 한국철도공사의 출범, 2013년 수서발 KTX 법인 면허 발급과 민영화 논란에 이르기까지 지속적으로 이루어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 철도산업 구조개혁이 10년 이상의 장기성을 통해 이루어진 점에 비추어, 이러한 정책변동은 여러 외적 변수와 장기적인 정책주체들의 상호작용에 기인하여 이루어졌다고 보고, 옹호연합모형을 적용하여 고찰하고자 하였다. 철도산업 구조개혁은 연합(Coalition)간의 합의점을 도출하지 못한 채 정권교체 등의 시점에 보다 우월한 지배연합에 의해 정책이 추진되었다고 볼 수 있으며, 이러한 정책의 성공적인 집행을 위해서는 깊은 갈등관계 속에서의 상이한 정책선호와 도구들을 중재하고 절충할 수 있는 대안을 도출하는 정책중개자의 역할이 중요할 것으로 판단하였다.

저소득층 노인의 유헬스 서비스 이용경험 (Low-income Elders' Experiences in Using u-Health (Ubiquitous Healthcare) Services)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to understand low-income elders' experiences of community-based u-Health services. Methods: Qualitative data were collected from 11 participants. All interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Three themes and eight sub-themes emerged as a result of analysis. The three main themes were 'recovered confidence and health condition,' 'trial and error in change,' and 'hope.'The eight sub-themes were 'the burden and efforts to overcome it in using bio-signal device,' 'ambivalence due to changing lifestyle,' 'increase of care time, decrease of pressure', 'conflict under environmental constraints,' 'difficulty in prioritizing health management,' 'discouragement in handling new devices,' 'desire not to be a burden to their children-gradual fulfillment of learning needs,' and 'long for broadening coverage range of services.' Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that low-income elders among the participants have different needs in using u-Health services. Therefore, health professionals need to give personalized education to deal with their conflicts and requirements, especially emotional and environmental support in order for them to successfully accept the u-Health services for self-care.

재가노인 돌봄 요양보호사의 우울 및 스트레스 관련 요인 (Correlates of Depressive Symptoms and Stress among Korean Women Care-workers for Older Adults Dwelling in Community)

  • Purpose: This study identified the prevalence of depressive symptoms and explored correlates of depressive symptoms among Korean women care-workers caring older adults living in community. Methods: A total of 465 participants were recruited for the study. Depressive symptoms was measured by the CES-D10 and distress was assessed using a single question given 5 Likert scale. Results: The prevalence of depressive symptoms and distress among care-workers were 32.5% and 32.0% respectively. Work environment safety, violence exposure experience, work-family conflict, weekly care work time, and poor health status were significantly associated with depressive symptoms. Only violence exposure experience and poor health status were associated with distress. Conclusion: Our findings suggest more attention on mental health of care-workers and their risky work condition such as violence.

조선업 종사자의 근골격계질환 자각증상과 직무 스트레스에 대한 연구 (A Study on Musculoskeletal Disorders and Job Stress of Workers in a Shipbuilding Company)

  • Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) have become a hot issue in the Korean workplace for the past several years. So many manufacturing companies have tried to improve the work environments for the control and the prevention of the WMSDs. This study investigates the relation between WMSDs and job stress from 965 workers in a shipbuilding company by questionnaire analysis. The seven job stress factors which are job autonomy, job insecurity, organizational system, workplace culture, unfair compensation, relationship conflict, and job requirement were analyzed. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders symptoms were 12.9%. The analysis showed that job stress by job autonomy was higher than that by job stress factor. WMSDs were associated with job requirement, organizational system, unfair compensation and workplace culture. The results could be used to design the management program for the reduction of job stress.

Differences among Credit Rating Agencies and the Information Environment

  • In the Korean capital market, there are three credit rating agencies. Potential credit ratings based on credibility in the financial market are calculated independently for each rating agency. It often happens that despite the fact that the grades of the rating agencies are the same and have the same rating system, their actual ratings are different, even for the same firm. In such circumstances, investors may wonder why. In this study, we assume that the cause is the information environment in which the company operates. The credit ratings of rating agencies are mainly classified into bonds or commercial papers. The bonds are rated primarily for long-term of three years or more, and commercial papers specify ratings for less than one year. The information environment to be verified in this study was observed with a commercial paper. Under the assumption the larger the analyst following is, the more transparent is the information environment, we analyzed the influence of the number of analysts following on the degree to which ratings conflicted among credit rating agencies. The results of our analysis confirmed that opinion conflict among credit rating agencies is clearly reduced for companies with good information environments.

건강보험 체납예측모형을 통한 체납세대의 유형화 및 특성 (Categorized the Contribution evasion through Health Insurance contribution evasion expected model)

  • The purpose of this study was to categorize the contribution evasion and develop the expected models for contribution arrears in National Health Care System. The modified logistic regression model in non-payments was used as logistic regression model based on the statistical method. By using this model, we arranged non-payment types and typical branches those are appeared by statistical technique. First fact, sex and age branches those are able to take a part in economy had effect mostly. Also they had difference in non-payment probability by existence of their incomes and property. Especially people who didn't have their own house and car were appeared in high non-payment probability, disease and reduction characteristic(rare diseases, reduction of seniors, handicaps, numbers of medical treatments) didn't effect much in probability. The reason for some characteristic of non-payment which is higher than the correct threshold value of Logistic Regression Model (a suggested model for predicting non-payment)'s distribution of probability was mostly moral hazard. Living difficulty was the bigger reason for non-payment, but moral slackening was the bigger reason for non-payment. But it is careless to decide that moral hazard is just the reason, there is a necessity to examine on the side of sociology based in family. By the reason, the member's non-payment reason can be classified by economy, population, and psychology, but there was a comprehension that losing of work desire could be one reason. So we analyzed informations for composition of family of members. In conclusion, we grasped that family conflict makes non-payment and conversion of member in the National Basic Livelihood Protection System difficult.

베이비붐세대 기혼여성의 부부생활이 행복지수에 미치는 영향 (A study of the impact of the married life of married women from the baby boom generation on the Happiness Index)

  • This study is about the happiness of married women from the baby boom generation. The study aims to understand the impact of the married life of such women on the happiness index and to improve the happiness of married women by improving married life. The data for this study were drawn from the National Women and Family Panel Survey (4th year data) carried out by the Korean Women's Development Institute. The subjects for the final analysis totaled 885 married women from the baby boom generation, born between 1955 and 1963. Of these, 550 were married women in a dual income family, and 335 were married women in a husband-income family. IBM SPSS Statistic 21.0 was used. The findings from this study are as follows: First, the women's happiness index was higher in cases where the women had a more positive view of their husbands, the more often they were involved in leisure activities, the better their conflict resolution whenever there was a clash of opinions, and the more satisfied they were with the division of household labor. Second, in the case of dual income families, the women's happiness index was higher where they had a positive view of their husbands, their conflicts were better resolved, and the more satisfied they were with the division of household labor. Third, in the case of married women in a husband-income family, their happiness index rose the more positively they perceived their husbands, the more often they were involved in leisure activities together, and the more satisfied they were with the division of household labor.

노사분규 사업장 내 노동조합 조합원의 집단따돌림에 관한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on Group Bullying of Labor Union Members in Labor-Management Disputes)

  • 본 연구결과는 선행연구와 같이 피해자의 작업동기 상실, 조직 불신, 신경과민, 이직의도 증가, 좌절감, 스트레스와 감응저항, 무력감과 소외감을 나타냈다. 노동조합이라는 집단의 부정적인 힘에 눌려 일개 개인이 대항하거나 해결책을 찾을 수 없는 현실에 분노를 경험하였다. 또한 노조의 집단 따돌림에 대한 조합원의 두려움이라는 심리적 요인들이 파업에 합류하지 않은 노조원, 노조에 미가입한 근로자들에게 압력요소로 작용하여 기존 노동조합 노조원의 이탈을 방지하는데 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 노동조합의 집단따돌림 행동이 비록 집단의 목적을 달성하는데 효과가 있다고 하더라도 윤리적이어야 할 조직이 윤리적으로 벗어나는 모습을 보인다는 점에서 집단따돌림 행동이 타당한가에 대한 문제를 고려해 볼 필요가 있다.
