Background and objectives: This study aimed to identify the characteristics and clinical outcomes of cancer patients who developed constrictive physiology (CP) after percutaneous pericardiocentesis. Methods: One-hundred thirty-three cancer patients who underwent pericardiocentesis were divided into 2 groups according to follow-up echocardiography (CP vs. non-CP). The clinical history, imaging findings, and laboratory results, and overall survival were compared. Results: CP developed in 49 (36.8%) patients after pericardiocentesis. The CP group had a more frequent history of radiation therapy. Pericardial enhancement and malignant masses abutting the pericardium were more frequently observed in the CP group. Fever and ST segment elevation were more frequent in the CP group, with higher C-reactive protein levels (6.6±4.3mg/dL vs. 3.3±2.5mg/dL, p<0.001). Pericardial fluid leukocytes counts were significantly higher, and positive cytology was more frequent in the CP group. In baseline echocardiography before pericardiocentesis, medial e' velocity was significantly higher in the CP group (8.6±2.1cm/s vs. 6.5±2.3cm/s, p<0.001), and respirophasic ventricular septal shift, prominent expiratory hepatic venous flow reversal, pericardial adhesion, and loculated pericardial fluid were also more frequent. The risk of all-cause death was significantly high in the CP group (hazard ratio, 1.53; 95% confidence interval,1.10-2.13; p=0.005). Conclusions: CP frequently develops after pericardiocentesis, and it is associated with poor survival in cancer patients. Several clinical signs, imaging, and laboratory findings suggestive of pericardial inflammation and/or direct malignant pericardial invasion are frequently observed and could be used as predictors of CP development.
Objective: Social attention is paid to the issues concerning child care teachers' work multisibility and ambiguous legal status. Child care teachers are employees based on the "Labor Standards Act" and the "Child Care Act". They also play the role of kindergarten teachers based on the "Childhood Education Act" because of the Nuri curriculum. Based on the main tasks of the child care teachers who protect and nurture infants and toddlers, the Nuri curriculum education for infants is conducted. However, the duties and rights of child care teachers are disproportionate because there are many areas where teachers' professional roles do not suit their legal rights. Methods: The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers perceive their own rights through field experience using qualitative method based on interpretative epistemology. Participants were 61 child care teachers working in the metropolitan area and used protocol description and focus group interview (FGI) for data collection. The collected data were derived as a central theme according to the data analysis method proposed by Creswell (2013). Results: Participants in the study described the 'Right and autonomy of education as a professional occupation', 'Right to request for improvement on working conditions, guarantee of living and to request for welfare system' and 'Right to guarantee of a teacher's status and adjustment of grievance.' They pointed out poor working conditions and welfare benefits at daycare centers, and emphasized that education and autonomy are necessary conditions to be strengthened for quality child care activities. On the other hand, they did not realize that 'Right to guarantee of a teacher's status and adjustment of grievance' was their right. And they have endured the infringement of this right. Conclusion/Implications: This study reveals the gap between teachers' responsibilities and rights, indicating the urgency of institutional arrangements. It is discussed that the social expectation for strengthening personality and professionalism as an infant and child specialist is increased and a practical alternative for the improvement of the right of teachers working in the child care field is needed considering the change of values about work.
This study configured an integrated math program in which young children can directly participate through storytelling, a teaching technique that has recently earned great popularity. The purpose of the study is to have a positive effect on their mathematical disposition and self-efficacy through the adoption of this program. The program consists of the following five themes: 'understanding of the basic concept of numbers and calculation', 'understanding of the basic concept of space and figure', 'basic measurement', 'understanding of rules' and 'basic data collection and result representation'. The specific activities for each theme planned and executed according to a detailed plan were designed for 20 classes including integrated activities such as story sharing, fine arts and games. The study's participants were 48 five-year old children. The result of the research was that the experimental group's mathematical disposition and self-efficacy score was significantly higher than the control group. The Storytelling-Integrated Math Program was effective in young children's cultivating mathematical disposition and improving self-efficacy. Considering the reality that there has been some confusion and difficulty in carrying out storytelling math and an integrated math program based on the NURI curriculum, it appears that this study could provide a specific and effective teaching-learning program to teachers who want to introduce a program like this.g
Trichoderma harzianum is one of rhizosphere fungus usually lives near the plant root regions in the soil. T. harzianum plays an important role in plant growth promotion and increases disease resistance against various plant pathogens on crops. In this study, the strain T. harzianum MPA167 was isolated from the barley rhizosphere soil in Suwon, Korea. Among 183 isolates, the strain T. harzianum MPA167 was selected as promising strain in which based on hyperparasitical activity against Phytophthora capsici and estimated disease control activity against P. capsici in the greenhouse conditions. The strain T. harzianum MPA167 was identified using 23s rDNA internal transcribed spacer(ITS) region sequences. MPA167 treatment ($1{\times}10^6$ spores/ml) showed greater disease suppression against Phytophthora blight of red-pepper caused by P. capsici in greenhouse compared with the water-treated control. Volatiles derived from T. harzianum MPA167 elicit growth promotion of tobacco and Arabidopsis seedlings in I-plate assay. In addition, T. harzianum MPA167 strain was also found to be effective for the growth promotion and induction of systemic resistance on red-papper plant. These results suggest that MPA167 might be used as one of the potential biocontrol agents.
Objective: This study composed a melody program through handbells, and applied it to the mixed-age edu-care children. Methods: This study implemented a handbell melody program suitable for children's interest and development characteristics, based on Nuri Curriculum, to 15 mixed-aged edu-care children aged 3 to 4 at C Kindergarten located in Seoul for 12 weeks (once a week) from October 2015. Results: The program consisted of the origin of handbell, promises to keep in playing the handbell, partial literary introduction, and musical note activities using teaching aids or games in an integrated way with other areas. Through the program, dynamic class could be carried out with mutual leading participation of a teacher and children. Consequently, children aged 3 to 4 could easily encounter playing the handbell, being interested in playing, and showed cooperative spirit and society-friendly behaviors. The mixed age edu-care teacher felt pleasure and achievement of challenge by performing the class herself, which had depended upon extracurricular activities. Conclusion/Implications: A further study as action research for edu-care teachers, focused on change of edu-care teachers themselves, is proposed.

The characteristics of the residual stress on the types of the substrate was investigated with adjusting the V/III ratio during GaN growth via the HVPE method. GaN single crystal layers were grown on a sapphire substrate and a GaN template under the conditions of V/III ratio 5, 10, and 15, respectively. During GaN growth, multiple hexagonal pits in GaN single crystal were differently revealed in accordance with growth condition and substrate type, and their distribution and depth were measured via optical microscopy(OM) and white light interferometry(WLI). As a result, it was confirmed that the distribution area and depth of hexagonal pit tended to increase as the V/III ratio increased. Moreover, it was found that the residual stress in GaN single crystal decreased as the distribution area and depth of the pit increased through measuring micro Raman spectrophotometer. In the case of GaN growth according to substrate type, the GaN on GaN template showed lower residual stress than the GaN grown on sapphire substrate.
The gene expression of amylase, trypsin, and lipase in the digestive organs of the two-spotted cricket (Gryllus bimaculatus) was tested to understand how it overcomes starvation. Amylase gene expression in the foregut was reduced by digesting no food until starvation-3 days. Although that expression persisted to starvation-6 days, it returned to normal at refeeding-2 days. The expression of trypsin peaked at around 8 times as starvation started and at around 4 times at starvation-3 days. After refeeding, trypsin expression rose up to 14 times and then fell back to normal as feeding continued. Lipase gene expression remained elevated at 1.5-2 times when starvation started and returned to normal at refeeding-2 days. In the midgut, amylase expression decreased until starvation-3 days, increasing to about 2 times at starvation-6 days; it did not rise again by refeeding. Trypsin was constantly expressed regardless of starvation and refeeding, while lipase expression was reduced by 0.6-0.7 times by starvation and refeeding. Amylase gene expression in the hindgut was 0.2-0.3 times lower than starvation-6 days, and it increased by 0.5 times on refeeding-1 day and more than 1.5 times on refeeding-3 days. The gene expression of trypsin was almost identical to amylase.
Saxifraga stolonifera (Saxifragaceae) is a perennial herbaceous plant growing in Korea, China, Japan and Russia. The aerial part has been used as herbal medicine for treatment of pneumonia, frostbite, inflammation and microbial infection. In this study, fresh juice and methanol extract were prepared from the aerial part of S. stolonifera, and their antimicrobial, antithrombin, and antioxidant activity were evaluated, respectively. The fresh juice showed weak antimicrobial activity against Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Candida albicans with ignorable DPPH scavenging activity. But, the methanol extract showed strong antioxidant activity ($IC_{50}$ of $37.5{\mu}g/mL$) with minor, broad-range antimicrobial activity. Antithrombin activities were not observed in fresh juice and extract, up to 1.5 mg/mL. Sequential organic solvent fractionation of methanol extract showed that $IC_{50}s$ of ethylacetate and the butanol fraction were 6.9 and $7.8{\mu}g/mL$, respectively, that is comparable with vitamin C or butylated hydroxytoluene. Analysis of component in extract and fractionates suggested that the antioxidants in fractions are diverse and the active substances have glycosylated phenolic structure. Our results suggest that the aerial part of S. stolonifera could be used as the natural source of potential antioxidant.

Purpose: To evaluate the treatment results in early stage non-small cell lung cancer patients who have undergone fiducial-less CyberKnife radiosurgery (CKRS). Materials and Methods: From June 2011 to November 2013, 58 patients underwent CKRS at Asan Medical Center for stage I lung cancer. After excluding 14 patients, we retrospectively reviewed the records of the remaining 44 patients. All analyses were performed using SPSS ver. 21. Results: The median age at diagnosis was 75 years. Most patients had inoperable primary lung cancer with a poor pulmonary function test with comorbidity or old age. The clinical stage was IA in 30 patients (68.2%), IB in 14 (31.8%). The mean tumor size was 2.6 cm (range, 1.2 to 4.8 cm), and the tumor was smaller than 2 cm in 12 patients (27.3%). The radiation dose given was 48-60 Gy in 3-4 fractions. In a median follow-up of 23.1 months, local recurrence occurred in three patients (2-year local recurrence-free survival rate, 90.4%) and distant metastasis occurred in 13 patients. All patients tolerated the radiosurgery well, only two patients developing grade 3 dyspnea. The most common complications were radiation-induced fibrosis and pneumonitis. Eight patients died due to cancer progression. Conclusion: The results showed that fiducial-less CKRS shows comparable local tumor control and survival rates to those of LINAC-based SABR or CKRS with a fiducial marker. Thus, fiducial-less CKRS using Xsight lung tracking system can be effectively and safely performed for patients with medically inoperable stage I non-small cell lung cancer without any risk of procedure-related complication.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Mathematical Activities using 4D-frame on 5-year-old children's mathematical ability and attitude towards Mathematics. For the study, E, K, and Y preschools located in S city were selected: 28 children from Y preschool as the experimental group(I: n=14, II: n=14) and 28 children from E and K preschool as the comparative group(III: n=14, IV: n=14). During the 8 weeks, the experimental group performed Mathematical Activities using 4D-frame and in the comparison group, Nuri-Curriculum's mathematical activities and mathematics-science integration programs were conducted. The analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was conducted with the pre-test scores of the experimental group(I, II) and the comparison group(III, IV) as covariance. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and comparative groups. Mathematical Activities for Young Children using 4D-frame enhanced 5-year-old children's mathematical ability and attitude towards Mathematics. The results of this study provide an understanding of the efficiency of early childhood mathematical activities using the 4D-frame in early childhood education and provide basic data for the improvement of mathematical ability and attitude of young children and the applicable educational methods at the field.
