The Effects of Nitrogen Fertilization Levels on the Content of ${NH_4}^+$-N and ${NO_3}^-$-N in Soil of Zoysiagrass(Zoysia japonica ) and 'Suffolk' Kentucky Bluegrass(Poa pratensis) (한국잔디(Zoysia japonica)와 'Suffolk' Kentucky bluegrass(poa pratensis)에서 지소지용 수준이 토양중 ${NH_4}^+$-N와 ${NO_3}^-$-N 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of the nitrogen fertilization levels on the content of $NH_4^+$-N in soil of 'Suffolk' Kentucky bluegrass and zoysiagrass. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1.According to the nitrogen fertilization levels, the content of $NH_4^+$-N in soil of Kentucky blue-grass and zoysiagrass was not significantly different. The content of $NH_4^+$-N in soil of Kentucky bluegrass and zoysiagrass was highest in June and December and lowest in March and September. 2.The content of $NH_3^-$-N in soil was increased by increasing the nitrogen fertilization levels in both Kentucky bluegrass and zoysiagrass. However, the deeper the depth of soil the less the content of $NO_3^-$-N in soil. In 40~60cm soil depth, the content of $NO_3^-$-N in soil was lower than 10ppm in average. Even in June, which was the highest month of the content of $NO_3^-$-N in soil, the content of $NO_3^-$-N in soil was not overpassed the degree of 20ppm.

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of NaCl stress on nitrogen, ${NH_4}^+$, and ${NO_3}^-$ content of 4 barley cultivar seedlings that were cultured for 10 and 30 days with different NaCl levels (0, 50, 100, and 150 mM) contain-ing 1/4 Hoagland solutions. The sodium ion content in the shoot of barley seedlings sharply increased with an increase of NaCl concentration. After 30 days of NaCl treatment, the sodium content of the shoot at 150 mM NaCl was 27 times higher than in non-saline conditions. The sodium content in the root linearly increased with increasing NaCl concentration. Nitrogen content in the shoot linearly increased with increasing NaCl concentration, but nitrogen content in the root declined above the point where the $Na^+$ content was 3.0 mM/g $Na^+$ in the barley seedling. ${NO_3}^-$ content also decreased with increasing NaCl concentration. ${NH_4}^+$ content in the shoot decreased with NaCl condition, but its content in the root increased with NaCl condition. A positive correlation between ${NO_3}^-$ and ${NH_4}^+$ content was found in the shoot, but their relationship was negative in the root.

  • Kale leaf had similar contents of vitamin C, $NO_3$, p, Ca, Mg, and Fe with reported values. Among these internal quality factors, $NO_3$ content which has been a concern recently, ranged from 139 to 429 mg in 100 g fresh kale leaf, Kale showed high vitamin C content ranging from 106 to 203 mg in 100 g fresh leaf. The relative concentration of chlorophyll and b value color had a high correlation coefficient (r) with vitamin C, $NO_3$, Mg and Fe content. The relationship between $NO_3$ content and the relative concentration of chlorophyll was given by the following linear equation: $NO_3$ content : 21.55 + (5.907 ${\times}$ the relative concentration of chlorophyll) with an r of $0.910^{{\ast}{\ast}}$. Correlation between $NO_3$ content and b value was also very dependable (r = $-0.901^{{\ast}{\ast}}$). Vitamin C content and the relative concentration of chlorophyll showed a high correlation, r = $-0.858^{{\ast}{\ast}}$. Among internal quality factors, vitamin C content increased with decreasing $NO_3$ content and their correlation coefficient was high (r = $-0.795^{{\ast}{\ast}}$). Consequently, $NO_3$ content of kale leaf could be inferred from an external nondestructive method, such as the relative concentration of chlorophyll. We may be able to produce high quality kale leaves containing high amount of vitamin C and low content of $NO_3$ using this method.

Study on the Content of ${NO_3}^-$ in Green Vegetable Juice by Different Sorts, Harvesting Time, Mixing Rate of Vegetable, Storage Condition and Manufacturers (채소 모재료의 종류, 수확시기별, 부위별 혼합비율, 저장조건 및 생산회사에 따른 녹즙의 ${NO_3}^-$ 함량차이)

  • After the consumption of green vegetable juice by Korean increase rapidly, the ${NO_3}^-$ intake through green vegetable juice have been ignored to consider for the calculation of daily ${NO_3}^-$ intake. It is necessary to collect the basic data on the ${NO_3}^-$ content in green vegetable juice by different sorts, harvesting time and mixing rate of vegetable, manufacturers and storage conditions for the next calculation of daily ${NO_3}^-$ intake for Korean. Followings are the research results from monitoring and laboratory experiment related with ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C in green vegetable juice. The ${NO_3}^-$ content of angelica plaant(tomorrow's leaf) and kale were higher in spring than those in summer and autumm. The highest value of ${NO_3}^-$ content in tomorrow's leaf and kale were 4.85 and 2.94 times higher compare to the lowest value. The average ${NO_3}^-$ content in the midribs of tomorrow's leaf and kale were 7.5 and 2.1 times higher than those in leafblades. It indicate the green vegetable juice made from leadblade of tomorrow's leaf and kale might be better compare to those from midrib in terms of ${NO_3}^-$ content. The content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C as affected by the timecourse after juice making were decreased rapidly compare to those by storage temperature in case of carrot, kale and cucumber juice. It show the positive comelation between the content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C in carrot, kale and cucumber juice regardless of room temperature(${NO_3}^-$) or cold temperature(${NO_3}^-$). The content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C of green vegetable juice by P company were the highest among the manufactuers. The lower content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C of green vegecable juice by TW company and GB company compare to P company is due to dilution with water to produce the juice. The content of ${NO_3}^-$ of green vegetable juice which were available in market showed 143ppm in carrot juice, 506ppm in tomorrow's leaf juice, 669ppm in wild water celery juice, 985ppm in kale juice, whereas the content of vitamine C were 43ppm in carrot juice, 289ppm in wild water celery juice, 353ppm in kale juice and 768ppm in tomorrow's leaf juice. It was calculated that people take 253mg by tomorrow's leaf juice, 335mg by wild water celery juice, 483mg by kale juice if they drink 500ml of green vegetable juice perday, and it suggest to excess 1.16, 1.53 and 2.21 times respectively only by green vegetable juice consumption.

Nitrate Content and Organophosphorus Pesticide Residues in Edible Part of Organic Farming Vegetables (시판 유기농법 재배 채소류의 질산염 및 유기인계 잔류농약의 함량)

  • The NO3 contents and organophosphorus pesticide residues in edible part of vegetables cultivated by a conventional or an organic farming methods were determined. The NO3 contents of vegetables cultivated by the organic farming method were between 120ppm and 4,523ppm, whereas its contents of vegetables cultivated by the conventional farming method were between 89ppm and 1,575ppm. Fifty two percent of vegetables cultivated by hte organic farming method accumulated NO3 content over than 2,000ppm, whereas 82% vegetables cultivated by the conventional farming method accumulated NO3 content below than 1,000ppm. The NO3 contents of lettuce dependent on the cultivation method obviously. The NO3 contents of lettuce cultivated by a hydroponic farming method were between 4,800 and 6,500ppm, whereas those cultivated by the conventional method were between 630 and 750ppm. The organophosphorus pesticide residues in edible part of vegetables cultivated by the conventional or the organic farming methods were not detected. The NO3 contents in edible part of vegetables cultivated by the organic farming method should be considered as one of several parameters to judge a real safe vegetable to be certified by goverment.

Seasonal Change in Inorganic Nitrogen Content in the Soil Profile of Urea-Fertilized Grassland (요소(尿素)(Urea)를 시용(施用)한 초지(草地)의 토양단면(土壤斷面)에서 무기태질소(無機態窒素) 함량(含量)의 계절적(季節的) 변화)

  • Field experiment was conducted to investigate the seasonal change in inorganic nitrogen content in grassland soil profile after urea application. Urea was applied at the levels of 0 (0N), 14 (14N), and 28 (28N) Kg N per 10a. Soil samples were taken at every 20 cm interval upto 100 cm soil depth in spring (May 26), summer (July 27), and autumn (October 18) and analysed for total and inorganic nitrogen ($NH_4-N$ and $NO_3-N$). The results obtained are as follows ; 1. In spring, the $NH_4-N$ content of ON treatment was higher than $NO_3-N$ content both in surface and subsoil. The urea application increasing both $NH_4-N$ and $NO_3-N$ contents in the surface soils and these contents decreased with soil depth. 2. In summer, increase in urea application rate elevated the $NO_3-N$ content in soil profile of 0 to 100cm and the content reached upto 42 ppm in the 28N treatment. 3. The seasonal difference in $NH_4-N$ content between summer and autumn was insignificant throughout soil profile. Soil $NO_3-N$ content in autumn were 7 and 14 ppm for 14N and 28N respectively, showing very low values compared with that of summer. 4. The ratio of inorganic nitrogen to total nitrogen increased with soil depth and with urea application rates.

  • This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of cutting frequency and nitrogen fertilization on $(NO_3$-N leaching losses under 12 years mixture permanent meadow, The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. There was no difference in the $(NO_3$-N content of soil water within 1 m soil depth during the whole experimental period. It means that the content of $(NO_3$-N leaching losses was not influenced by botanical composition, cutting frequency and nitrogen fertilization in this experiment. 2. The level of $(NO_3$-N content during the whole experimental period was not in excess of 0.5 ppm level.

  • This study was designed to investigate the content of inorganic nitrogen($NH_4$, $NO_3$) and its change in the 7 different sites; the permanent meadows of alfalfa, orchardgrass, and reed canarygrass, the fields of rye. corn, rice and a mountain region. the results from this study were summarized as follows; 1. The contents of ammonium and nitrate in meadows were 15.89-16.46 and 1.32-1.86ppm, respectively, showing the lower level than in other sites and no significant diffirences among three meadows. 2. In the rice field, the average content of ammonium(7.19ppm) was the highest among all sites, but the content of nitrate(1 l.l7ppm) was the lowest. In addition, almost all of nitrate were spreaded around the surface. 3. In the mountain region, the content of $NH_4$(5.79ppm) was slightly high, but the content of nitrate ( 15.18ppm) was very low. 4. In the rye field. the average content of $NO_3$ was 35.46ppm and show the highest (92.63ppm) at the deep part of soil in the specific season, but it decreased with increasing temperature. 5. In the corn field, which kept bare after harvesting the corn silage, the content of $NO_3$ was high, regardless of seasons and depths, and increased up to maximum of 103ppm. 6. The ground water concentrations of $NO_3$ were not more than 50ppm in the pasture. In the vegetable house, they were less than 30 ppm during the winter and spring and were 80-100ppm during the summer and fall. 7. The concentrations of $NO_3$ in Han river water were lower during the winter and spring(20-30ppm) and higher dxring the summer and fall (50-90ppm).

Analysis of the Amino Acids Content of Three Neopyropia Dentata Cultivars under the Two Different Aquafarm Environment in Haenam, Korea (해남의 김 양식장별 잇바디돌김(Neopyropia dentata) 3품종의 아미노산 성분 분석)

  • This study aims to assess the water quality of the Eoran and the Imha aquafarm with different aquafarm environments in Haenamn-gun, and analyzed the composition of total amino acids (TAAs) and free amino acids (FAAs) in three Neopyropia dentata cultivars (Yuldo, Supum1 and 2) in two aquafarms. Mean water temperature ranged from 22.9 to 10.9℃ during September to November 2018. In Eoran aquafarm, the water quality analysis showed that NO2-N was high in September, NH4-N and COD in October, and NO3-N, DIN, and DIP in November. In Imha aquafarm, the water quality analysis showed that NH4-N and COD was high in September, NO3-N and DIN in October, and NO2-N and DIP in November. We confirmed the proximate composition, amino acid composition (TAA/FAA) in two auqufarms. In the Eoran aquafarm, the 'Yuldo' cultivar had significantly higher crude lipid content than two other cultivars (Supum 1 and 2). The 'Supum1' cultivar had significantly higher moisture content, whereas the highest content of crude protein, crude lipid, crude ash, and carbohydrates was found in the 'Supum2' cultivar. In the Imha aquafarm, the content of crude lipid and crude ash was highest in the 'Yuldo' cultivar. The highest content of crude protein and carbohydrates was found in the 'Supum1' cultivar, while the 'Supum2' cultivar had the highest content of moisture. The highest concentration of glutamic acid belong to TAAs is observed in all cultivars from Eoran and Imha aquafarm, while all cultivars in two aquafarm also contained higher content of alanine among the detected FAAs.
