Currently the terminology 'rock musical' is used too freely, and thus academic definition and research of its stylistic features are required. This thesis attempts to clarify the historical context of rock music and rock muscal, and to study the musical and dramatic feature of rock musical. This thesis also attempts to catagolize the musical types of the songs used in the contemporary rock musial ; 1) authentic rock music, 2) psudo-rock music transformed from other musical styles, and 3) amalgamation of rock music and other musical styles. All this attempts is aimed to find a possibility of creation of new musical.

Background: There is a need for index research on music therapy activities for the elderly in Korea. Purposes: This study aims to suggest application standards in music therapy by surveying the elderly's preference for music therapy activities. Methods: A survey of music-related actions and musical instrument preferences was conducted with 91 older people in 4 nursing homes. The questionnaire consisted of information about music activities, genres of songs, types of instruments, methods of movement, and purpose of participation in activities. Results: The preference for musical activities was for playing musical instruments, followed by singing, music appreciation, flowing movements, and concert-oriented activities. Music genres appeared in the order of popular songs, folk songs, and children's songs. The instrument type preferred drums, followed by shakers and woodblocks. As a movement application method, movement using themes is preferred. Participating in music activities was leisure, followed by stress relief and emotional cultivation. Conclusion: When applying music therapy to the elderly, it predicted that the treatment effect would be high when the elderly focus on playing musical instruments and singing activities preferred by the elderly. Music genres selected from popular music and folk songs, and musical instruments are drums and shakers. Therefore, if you use it, you can expect a more significant effect.

Music functions as a catalyst for various emotional experiences. Among the numerous genres of music, film music has been reported to induce strong emotional responses. However, the effectiveness of film music in evoking different types of emotions and its relationship in terms of which musical elements contribute to listeners' perception of intended emotion have been rarely investigated. The purpose of this study was to examine the congruence between the intended emotion and the perceived emotion of listeners in film music listening and to identify musical characteristics of film music that correspond with specific types of emotion. Additionally, the study aimed to investigate possible relationships between participants' identification responses and personal musical experience. A total of 147 college students listened to twelve 15-second music excerpts and identified the perceived emotion during music listening. The results showed a high degree of congruence between the intended emotion in film music and the participants' perceived emotion. Existence of tonality and modality were found to play an important role in listeners' perception of intended emotion. The findings suggest that identification of perceived emotion in film music excerpts was congruent regardless of individual differences. Specific music components that led to high congruence are further discussed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the transformation and characteristics of the Verse-Chorus form. The musical form of a musical song is a structural mechanism for expression to effectively convey the dramatic situation of the characters to the audience. This study identified four types of representative forms that can be used to explore the transformation with the verse-chorus form and examined their characteristics. First is the Verse-Chorus form which repeats the description of simple situations and characters in the early stage of the musical. Second is the Verse-Bridge-Verse form which is used to evoke the atmosphere and escape boredom through a slight transformation of the bridge while explaining a simple character. Third is the Verse-Prechorus-Chorus form, which sits just before the chorus, connects the verse and the chorus, and promotes the emotional rise of the characters by smoothing the drama and the harmonic progression. Lastly, this study examined the expanded Verse-BG dialogue-Chorus form used to represent the situation in which conflicts about the complex feelings of the characters and the decisions about them coexist. As such, musical songs use various types of verse-chorus forms. Through the formality and transformation of the verse-chorus, the logic of the music and the logic of the drama are balanced so that the development of the music and the drama does not enter the state of imbalance. Based on this study, further progressive research can take place on the correlation between musical form and dramatic structure, beyond the transformation of musical song form.

The purpose of this study is to suggest that cultural consumption practices are changing with social and media changes and re-conceptualize 'cultural consumption' beyond attendance or exposure to high culture genres. We look at four types of musical consumption - news reading, posting a review, amateur participation, interaction with others - as expanded musical consumption. We expect expanded musical consumption to be closely associated with cultural capital than with attendances at musical events since high-culture events gets popularized, musical information abundant and cultural interaction easier. We explore the question of the relationship between inherited cultural capital and cultural consumption using recent survey data. More evident are positive relationships between cultural capital and production than attendance.

Mathematics(group theory, in particular) makes it partially possible to present and create music and patterns. This means that patterns can be presented by music through mathematics. In this work, we first produce musical piece for each type of frieze patterns. Based on the musical pieces, we compose a music presenting the combined pattern of all frieze types. We finally produce a video for hearing design through music. Through a QR-code, anyone can access the product of this work. The results of this research might be examples for integration of mathematics and arts and for utilizing smart circumstances.

Performing arts offer fun and knowledge and are directed for various purposes. Performing arts are also used as a means for education. Children's English media musical, 'The Magic Flute' is the performance reflecting all these. The author of this study took part in stage costume production, and this study was carried out aiming at designing and producing stage costume in line with educational purpose and intention. This study consists of an analysis stage for the existing performances of 'The Magic Flute', and a stage costume design and production stage for children's English media musical, 'The Magic Flute', First, this study classified and analyzed the stage design and stage costume design of the existing 'The Magic Flute' by concept, and then, examined their features, respectively. and this study unfolded the stage costume concept, based on the analyses of existing performance's stage costume and the characters' personality and features described in the current study subject's script. As the last step of this study made each character's stage costume. A total of 69 costumes for stage costume were made for 7 types of characters. This study is considered to have huge significance in that the stage costume was developed for 'The Magic Flute'.

The purpose of this study was to examine the perceived emotion of music according to cognitive styles of music listening. A total of 91 music-related graduate students participated in this study. They were given a questionnaire about perceived emotions of music, musical elements, and Music Empathizing-Music Systemizing Inventory. To analyze statistically, Descriptive statistics, paired t-test, ANalysis Of VAriance (ANOVA), multi-variate analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis were conducted. Results showed that participants had relatively universal experience in perceived emotions of both types of music, and also showed that musical elements contributed to the experience differed by cognitive styles of music listening.

This paper deals with three issues related to influx and change of the Confucian Shrine Ritual Music. First, the musical instrument of the Akhakgwebeom-wooden frame-form used in the current Confucian Shrine Ritual Music is not a form that came in when the Daesung-Aak of the Song Dynasty was introduced in 1116, but it is a Yuan Dynasty form brought from the Ming Dynasty, in the 19th year of King Kongmin. In the Song Dynasty of the Goryeo Yejong era, when Daesung-Aak came in, there was not yet 'Baeso', a musical instrument of the Akhakgwebeom form, which first appeared in the Yuan Dynasty. A new musical instrument named 'Baeso' appears with the 'So' in the later period of King Gongmin, and it is very likely that this 'Baeso' is the musical instrument of the present Akhakgwebeom form. Second, although the form of the 'So' in the Joseon Dynasty recorded in the Akhakgwebeom was followed by the Chinese one, but the pitch and arrangement are the one of the pitch of '12 Yul and 4 Cheongseong' and the arrangement of the pitch from left to right. Third, in the 1930s, the whole form was the same as that of the Akhakgwebeom, but there existed two types, which several pipes stick together or pipes fall apart. But since then, as seen in the musical instrument located at Kyungpook National University Museum and in instruments currently used in Confucian Shrine Ritual Music, only musical instruments exist which pipes fall apart. It is unclear for what reason and to what extent the 'So' were so transformed, but it would be appropriate to re-establish the form of the 'So' in the musical and historical point of view.

In this paper, we study how to improve the performance of a machine learning-based automatic music transcription model by adding musical information to the input data. Where, the added musical information is information on the number of pitches that occur in each time frame, and which is obtained by counting the number of notes activated in the answer sheet. The obtained information on the number of pitches was used by concatenating it to the log mel-spectrogram, which is the input of the existing model. In this study, we use the automatic music transcription model included the four types of block predicting four types of musical information, we demonstrate that a simple method of adding pitch number information corresponding to the music information to be predicted by each block to the existing input was helpful in training the model. In order to evaluate the performance improvement proceed with an experiment using MIDI Aligned Piano Sounds (MAPS) data, as a result, when using all pitch number information, performance improvement was confirmed by 9.7 % in frame-based F1 score and 21.8 % in note-based F1 score including offset.
