This landscape design proposal was presented to a design competition for the Culture.Welfare.Administration Complex of Yongin-City which was held by Yongin-City in December, 2001. The site is located at 68-19 Yukbuck-dong, Yongin-City, Kyunggi-do and has an area of 236,449$m^2$. The judging criteria for landscape design set by the Yongin-City could be articulated as follows: an environment friendly design respecting the surrounding environment, a locale as a community center of Yongin-City, a resting place for the welfare of employees and visitors, and finally a place with diverse landscape elements reflecting the individual identity of each facility. This proposal chose the main design concept of this project as‘Nature meets City'. A grove of pine trees fragments the multi building complex, so that‘nature'was brought into the‘city'. A double ground system was introduced to respect the existing topography and to enhance the efficency of the land. This design proposal consists of four segments. Each segment has its own design theme. Outdoor space of this multi-purpose complex was designed with themes of nature, culture, welfare and administration. Space composition with grid and natural looking curvilinear lines was a design motive for this complex. The nature oriented planting design was introduced to respect the existing groves of Mt. Suksung. Specific species were chosen to follow its own spatial character in each space. An environmental sculpture called‘Dream Soaring'was placed in the middle of‘Citizen Plaza'. Its light and feather-looking shape symbolizes the vision of Youngin-City. At night people can watch the diverse color changes on its mirror-like surface.

Until now, the domestic construction market has been formed focusing on new construction and reconstruction in the apartment industry. Recently, however, the remodeling market for old structures have shown a tendency towards land shortage and land price increases in the major cities : the reinforcement of regulations regarding reconstruction ; expenditure reduction and the solving of environmental problems by regarding old structures is pursuing low costs and maximum efficiency. The interest in remodeling is increasing, however, remodeling has not been successfully initiated in the apartment division for a reasonable period of time. Consequently to acquire mutual agreement for remodeling from the residential occupants. In order to evaluate profitability, it is necessary to set priorities and reasonable criteria for remodelling and to this end, it is also required to assess each fact of remodelling in view of both customers and supplied.

The purpose of this study is to find out users' preference of the shares community space(SCS) for the Community Design. For this, it was analyzed the residents' behavior characteristics of the current multi-family housing and the residents' needs of the SCS. This study focused on seeking out the user-oriented design criteria for the planning of the SCS. The survey was carried out with a structured questionnaire including sketch map from Aug. 13, 2001 to Sept. 14, 2001. The subjects were housewives who's living in Haeuondae of Busan, Korea. Total number of 650 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. Especially 439 cases among them were used for analysis of mental map. The SPSS PC+ was used for the analysis of data. The results of this study are as follows : First, as to the users' behavior for the SCSs, there is a difference in the location of residents' activities by contents of them. And, the range of these locations categorized according to levels of spacial cognition for neighborhoods. Second, as to the analysis of the SCS through a mental maps, it was shown that the residents' pathway and the residents' location are main variables to be considered in the SCS planning. The preferred location of SCS is organized according to the character of the SCS; the one for most residents, is located the surrounding of main enterance or the center of the housing complex, and the one the neighbors living in the same or the near building is located in area of the block of resident buildings. Third, as the results of residents' needs analysis, the SCS has the meaning of community facilities. And there is a difference in the degree of necessity and in the preferred location according to character of the SCS. In detal, for the indoor SCS of a resident building, there is a difference in the preferred location according to the kinds of each SCS. And for the outdoor SCS, it is necessary to divide the planning zone of the SCS into 3 steps(the resident building, the block of resident buildings, and the housing complex).

Mixture design of self-compacting concrete is a typical multi-criteria decision making problem and conventional mixture designs are based on the low level engineering method like trials and errors through iteration method to satisfy the various requirements. This study concerns with performing the straightforward multiobjective design optimization of economic SCC mixture considering relative importances of the various requirements and cost-effectives of SCC. Total five requirements of 28day compressive strength, filling ability, segregation stability, material cost and mass were taken into consideration to prepare the objective function to be formulated in form of the weighted-multiobjective mixture design optimization problem. Economic SCC mixture computational design can be given in a rational way which considering material costs and the relative importances of the requiremets and from the result of this study it is expected that the development of SCC mixtue computational design and the consequent univeral concrete material design optimization methodology can be advanced.

The policy introduced recently in order to promote small-size reconstruction housing projects for rehabilitating downtown area consists of aged multi houses has been little practiced, as preferential provisions for such projects are more likely applicable for large projects. Several expert interviews and surveys were conducted to find efficient clauses to overcome the problems and their relative weights. As the results, it is revealed that 'relation of floor area ratio' and 'relaxation of building height limit criteria' are the most effective whereas 'purchasing and operating of residents' common facilities with public fund' is little. The study results would be a great interests for public institutions to rebuild aged housing area without destroying local communities and to provide socially disadvantaged class with rental housing at the same time.
Composite material-due to low density-causes weight savings, which results in lower fuel consumption of transport vehicles. The aim of the research was to change the existing base-plate of the aluminum airplane container with the composite sandwich plate in order to reduce the weight of the containers of cargo aircrafts. The newly constructed sandwich plate consists of aluminum honeycomb core and composite face-sheets. The face-sheets consist of glass or carbon or hybrid fiber layers. The orientations of the fibers in the face-sheets were 0°, 90° and ±45°. Multi-objective optimization method was elaborated for the newly constructed sandwich plates. Based on the design aim, the importance of the objective functions (weight and cost of sandwich plates) was the same (50%). During the optimization nine design constraints were considered: stiffness, deflection, facing stress, core shear stress, skin stress, plate buckling, shear crimping, skin wrinkling, intracell buckling. The design variables were core thickness and number of layers of the face-sheets. During the optimization both the Weighted Normalized Method of the Excel Solver and the Genetic Algorithm Solver of Matlab software were applied. The mechanical properties of composite face-sheets were calculated by Laminator software according to the Classical Lamination Plate Theory and Tsai-Hill failure criteria. The main added-value of the study is that the multi-objective optimization method was elaborated for the newly constructed sandwich structures. It was confirmed that the optimal new composite sandwich construction-due to weight savings and lower fuel consumption of cargo aircrafts - is more advantageous than conventional all-aluminum container.

One of the biggest challenges that the software industry is facing today is to create highly efficient applications without affecting the quality of healthcare system software. The demand for the provision of software with high quality protection has seen a rapid increase in the software business market. Moreover, it is worthless to offer extremely user-friendly software applications with no ideal security. Therefore a need to find optimal solutions and bridge the difference between accessibility and protection by offering accessible software services for defense has become an imminent prerequisite. Several research endeavours on usable security assessments have been performed to fill the gap between functionality and security. In this context, several Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approaches have been implemented on different usability and security attributes so as to assess the usable-security of software systems. However, only a few specific studies are based on using the integrated approach of fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) technique for assessing the significant usable-security of hospital management software. Therefore, in this research study, the authors have employed an integrated methodology of fuzzy logic, ANP and TOPSIS to estimate the usable - security of Hospital Management System Software. For the intended objective, the study has taken into account 5 usable-security factors at first tier and 16 sub-factors at second tier with 6 hospital management system softwares as alternative solutions. To measure the weights of parameters and their relation with each other, Fuzzy ANP is implemented. Thereafter, Fuzzy TOPSIS methodology was employed and the rating of alternatives was calculated on the foundation of the proximity to the positive ideal solution.

The role of cost modeller is to facilitate the design process by systematic application of cost factors so as to maintain a sensible and economic relationship between cost, quantity, utility and appearance which thus helps in achieving the client's requirements within an agreed budget. There are a number of research on cost estimates in the early design stage based on the improvement of accuracy or impact factors. It is common knowledge that cost estimates are undertaken progressively throughout the design stage and make use of the information that is available at each phase, through the related research up to now. In addition, Cost estimates in the early design stage shall analyze the information under the various kinds of precondition before reaching the more developed design because a design can be modified and changed in all process depending on clients' requirements. Parametric cost estimating models have been adopted to support decision making in a changeable environment, in the early design stage. These models are using a similar instance or a pattern of historical case to be constituted in project information, geographic design features, relevant data to quantity or cost, etc. OLAP technique analyzes a subject data by multi-dimensional points of view; it supports query, analysis, comparison of required information by diverse queries. OLAP's data structure matches well with multiview-analysis framework. Accordingly, this study implements multi-dimensional information system for case based quantity data related to design information that is utilizing OLAP's technology, and then analyzes impact factors of quantity by the design criteria or parameter of the same meaning. On the basis of given factors examined above, this study will generate the rules on quantity measure and produce resemblance class using clustering of data mining. These sorts of knowledge-base consist of a set of classified data as group patterns, of which will be appropriate stand on the parametric cost estimating method.
As the meter reading method of gas meters develops, smart gas meters capable of remote meter reading (leak checking meters and multi-function safety meters) are being used. These meters have a function to judge leakage by utilizing the flow rate and pressure data collected as an additional function. Leakage judgment function using flow rate data has valid cases in the actual field, but the pressure data-based leakage judgment standard is based on not only the pressure value change due to leakage but also various factors (pressure regulator pressure, connection with adjacent meters, usage of adjacent houses, location of meters, etc.). There is a problem with pressure magnitude changes (levels). In this paper, as a technique that can judge leaks by using pressure data collected from smart gas meters, it was developed through preprocessing of pressure data, criteria for pressure value ranges related to leaks, leak judgment techniques, and application case verification.
