The purpose of this study is to understand middle school students' levels of cognitive conflict for the students provided quantitative demonstration and qualitative demonstration after the pre-test. 297 middle school students were selected from one school in Pusan. Action-reaction problem of mechanics and electric bulbs in parallel problem of electricity were used in the demonstration and the pre-test. Students' cognitive conflict levels were investigated using the developed items by Kwon(1999) et al. We compared cognitive conflict levels between quantitative demonstration group and qualitative demonstration group. In addition to, we compared cognitive conflict levels between students who changed their preconceptions and the students who adhered to their preconceptions. We investigated correlation between levels of faith with preconceptions and cognitive conflict levels. The study generated the following results. First, students who selected incorrect choice in pre-test showed the higher levels of cognitive conflict in quantitative demonstration group than qualitative demonstration group and students who selected correct choice in pre-test showed higher levels of cognitive conflict in qualitative demonstration group than quantitative demonstration group. Second, students who changed their preconceptions were higher levels of cognitive conflict than students who adhered their preconceptions. Third, students who selected incorrect choice in pre-test showed positive correlation between levels of faith with preconceptions and levels of cognitive conflict, and students who selected incorrect choice in pre-test showed negative correlation between levels of faith with preconceptions and levels of cognitive conflict.
In this study, discrete mathematical items were classified into analytical items and mathematical items were analyzed on the basis of analytic framework items of mathematics and the past items of mathematics subject contents of the period 2011-2017 school year. First, the discrete mathematics evaluation areas and evaluation contents proposed by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation should be evenly distributed. Second, the items of measuring metacognitive knowledge as a strategic knowledge on the use of cognitive methods should be given. Third, the ratio of the number of items in discrete mathematics to the number of that was 3.8%~6.8%, and the ratio according to the item weighting was 2.2%~6.3%. Fourth, it is analyzed that all the items are suitable for the evaluation goal and the pre-service math teachers who have faithfully implemented the curriculum have maintained the appropriate level of difficulty to solve. Finally, the content items such as the method of counting the discrete mathematics curriculum, the Recurrence Relation, the generation function, and the graph are matched with the teacher certification examination and the mathematics education curriculum of each teachers college. By these reasons, we conclude that the contribution of pre-service teachers to the motivation of learning is obtained and implications.

The purpose of this study is to examine racism in the movie ≪Green Book≫ and to find solutions to racism through discussion with students. Set in 1962 in the United States, this film depicts the process of forming a good bond with the black pianist Dr. Shirley and the driver Tony in a racist society. This study utilized the subject of race, one of the subjects covered in the humanities class in the global era of S University in the second semester of 2021. This is because, since the outbreak of racism, the problem of racism has continued to arise in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. Therefore, the researcher looked at racism and intercultural education as a theoretical background, and looked at cases of racism in movies and cases of racism that have occurred today. The history of racism and discrimination dates back to medieval Europe and was caused by religious conflicts and was attributed to white supremacy. As a solution to this racial discrimination, international organizations suggested intercultural education. And the reason why film was used in this study is because it aims to provoke students' interest and motivation for learning by targeting first-year university students called the digital native generation who were born and grew up with the Internet. In this study, students' solutions to racism were presented using discussion, and then the researcher's solutions were presented.
The purpose of this study was to examine how primary school teachers use music for classroom teaching and management and how they perceive the effects of using music in their classroom. A total of 190 questionnaires were collected from primary school teachers and 119 responses were analyzed after excluding four responses from music teachers who are not in charge of a classroom. The results demonstrated that a greater number of respondents reported the use of music for classroom teaching than for classroom management. With regard to music use for classroom management, teachers most often attempted to enhance positive emotions of their students by playing children's songs. For classroom teaching, music was frequently used to increase students' motivation for learning. Also, while first through third grade teachers tended to use music frequently for both classroom teaching and management, fourth through sixth grade teachers mainly used music for teaching. Although most of the respondents perceived the positive influence of music on their children, they reported difficulties in using music in their classrooms. Respondents indicated the needs for music-related training or provision of materials to support teachers for effectively using music. Future studies are needed to develop music resource materials that could be readily utilized by teachers in a variety of contexts in primary school.

This study is an attempt to present a usage of the Web as CAI in the classroom and to give a direction to the future education in the face of information age. Characteristcs of information society, current curriculum, educational and teacher education are first analyzed in this article. The features of internet and 'Web are then summarized to present benefits of usage in the classroom as a CAI tool. The literature shows several characteristics of information society as follows : a technological computer, a provision and sharing of information, multi functional society, a participative democracy', an autonomy, a time value..A problem solving and 4 Cs(e.g., cooperation, copying, communication, creativity) are newly needed in this learning environment. The Internet is a large collection of networks that are tied together so that users can share their vast resources, a wealth of information, and give a key to a successful, efficient. individual study over a time and space. The 'Web increases an academic achievement, a creativity, a problem solving, a cognitive thinking, and a learner's motivation through an easy access to : documents available on the Internet, files containing programs, pictures, movies, and sounds from an FTP site, Usenet newsgroups, WAIS seraches, computers accessible through telnet, hypertext document, Java applets and other multimedia browser enhancements, and much more, In the Web browser will be our primary tool in searching for information on the Internet in this information age.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of 'best practire' in mathematics and suggest some solutions to several problems emerging in mathematics classes of secondary schools. The study was carried out by using qualitative research methods such as class observations and in-depth interviews with six teachers. Based on the collected data, we could sort out the major patterns which characterize 'the good mathematics teaching' at schools in Korea. The common characteristics of best practice in mathematics are drawn out from the six cases. The common characteristics include revising the curriculum and text books, realistic mathematics education, using ICT and meta-cognition, introduction with motivation and interest, performance assessment and managing differentiated small group. Results implied that six teachers used a variety of instructional methods and strategies which is related with the common characteristics of good mathematics teaching. Also these teachers not only improved their own classroom practices but also participated in various professional community of mathematics education and shared their practical knowledge. In conclusion assorted efforts from the government and the school principals as well as the teachers are prerequisite for practicing and spreading good mathematics teaching across the classrooms.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mathematics classes focused on mathematical problem posing activities on 10th grade students' mathematics achievement and affective characteristics of mathematics. This study was conducted in a total of 45 regular mathematics classrooms with 81 students from two classes through a nonequivalent control group design. The results of the study showed that the teaching method based on mathematical problem posing activities had a more positive effect on students' mathematics achievement and the affective characteristics of mathematics than the teaching method that focuses on problem solving. The teaching method based on problem posing activities proposed in this study could induce students' self-reflective learning motivation, which in turn gave them a more solid understanding of the mathematical concepts they had learned. In addition, it was found that students' problem solving ability, mathematical communication ability, and mathematical thinking ability were positively influenced by problem posing activities. Regarding the affective characteristics of mathematics, the mathematical problem-posing activity suggested in this study turned out to be a very effective strategy for improving students' interest in mathematics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the development and application of strategies using fairy tales in elementary school science. For this study, many fairy tales were searched in terms of various characteristics and educational value of the tales. Five fairy tales were selected and reconstructed to suit the 'mirrors and lenses' unit of 5th graders' school science, and teaching strategies using the fairy tales were developed to be used in six lessons. To investigate the effects of instruction using fairy tales, pre/post tests for scientific attitude were administered. To analyze students' perception of their classes, a simple survey was administered through questionnaires. We found from this study that the students related the fairy tales with their own experiences and took an active part in the class that used them. Also, instruction using fairy tales had positive effects on their scientific attitude. Many students said that the science classes were interesting, and the method using fairy tales encouraged students to study hard as well as helped them to understand the context. It was concluded that instruction using fairy tales was an effective method in terms of enhancing learning motivation, encouraging more inquiries, more opportunities to apply the scientific concept, and more positive scientific attitude. We discussed the strategies using fairy tales for implementation in elementary science classes as well.
