Healthcare and Emergency Response Service Platform Based on Android Smartphone

  • As the elderly population is becoming an aging society, the elderly are experiencing many problems. Social security costs for the elderly are increasing and the un-linked social phenomenon is emerging. Thus, the social infrastructure and welfare system established in the past economic growth period are in danger of not functioning properly. People socially isolated or with chronic diseases among the elderly are exposed to various accidents. Thus, an active healthcare management service is imperative. Additionally, in the event of a dangerous situation, the system must have ways to notify guardians (family or medical personnel) regarding appropriate action. Thus, in this paper, we propose the smartphone-based healthcare and emergency response service platform. The proposed service platform aggregates movement of relevant data in real-time using a smartphone. Based on aggregated data, it will always recognize the user's movements and current state using the human motion recognition mechanism. Thus, the proposed service platform provides real-time status monitoring, activity reports, a health calendar, location-based hospital information, emergency situation detection, and cloud messaging server-based efficient notification to several subscribers such as family, guardians, and medical personnel. Through this service, users or guardians can augment the level of care for the elderly through the reports. Also, if an emergency situation is detected, the system immediately informs guardians so as to minimize the risk through immediate response.

  • 수부는 일상생활동작(ADL, activities of daily living)을 위한 중요 부위로 손상이나 장애가 있는 경우 재활치료를 통해 과제수행능력을 향상시킨다. 그러나 치료 과정은 주관적으로 진행되어 정확한 치료 성과를 위한 객관적 지표가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 실제 수부 움직임을 추적할 수 있는 동작인식 장비인 립모션 컨트롤러와 Unity3D로 가상공간 상에서 구현된 Box&Block Test를 이용하여 수부 움직임에 대한 객관적인 데이터를 얻었다. 기존 Box&Block Test와 제안한 모션인식과 추적에 의한 수지손상 환자용 진단 및 치료시스템의 성능을 T검정 수행한 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없음을 보였으며 수부 움직임의 정량적인 데이터를 통해 정확한 치료성과 판단의 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, We design and implement a humanoid robot, With Educational purpose, which can collaborate and communicate with human. We present an affective human-robot communication system for a humanoid robot, D2, which we designed to communicate with a human through dialogue. D2 communicates with humans by understanding and expressing emotion using facial expressions, voice, gestures and posture. Interaction between a human and a robot is made possible through our affective communication framework. The framework enables a robot to catch the emotional status of the user and to respond appropriately. As a result, the robot can engage in a natural dialogue with a human. According to the aim to be interacted with a human for voice, gestures and posture, the developed Educational humanoid robot consists of upper body, two arms, wheeled mobile platform and control hardware including vision and speech capability and various control boards such as motion control boards, signal processing board proceeding several types of sensors. Using the Educational humanoid robot D2, we have presented the successful demonstrations which consist of manipulation task with two arms, tracking objects using the vision system, and communication with human by the emotional interface, the synthesized speeches, and the recognition of speech commands.

  • 본 논문에서는 농구 경기에서의 대표적 자세 중 Standing shoot, Jump shoot, Pass, Dribble, Lay-up shoot, 총 5가지 자세를 인식하기 위해 각 자세와 3축 가속도 값과의 상관관계를 보여주고 있다. 스마트폰에 내장되어 있는 가속도 센서로부터 데이터를 생성해주는 어플리케이션인 Sensor log를 활용하여 얻은 3축 가속도 값으로 수직, 수평축과 3축 가속도의 크기를 구해 Instance로 사용하였다. 위 데이터는 대표적인 데이터 마이닝 도구인 Weka tool을 이용하여 각 모션과 데이터 값의 상관관계를 확인하였고, 실험 결과 10-fold에서 평균 59.8%를 보였으나 Training set과 Test set의 결과 80.8%를 보였다.

  • Because of the development of computers and high-technology applications, all devices that we use have become more intelligent. In recent years, security and surveillance systems have become more complicated as well. Before new technologies included video surveillance systems, security cameras were used only for recording events as they occurred, and a human had to analyze the recorded data. Nowadays, computers are used for video analytics, and video surveillance systems have become more autonomous and automated. The types of security cameras have also changed, and the market offers different kinds of cameras with integrated software. Even though there is a variety of hardware, their capabilities leave a lot to be desired. Therefore, this drawback is trying to compensate by dint of computer program solutions. Image processing is a very important part of video surveillance and security systems. Capturing an image exactly as it appears in the real world is difficult if not impossible. There is always noise to deal with. This is caused by the graininess of the emulsion, low resolution of the camera sensors, motion blur caused by movements and drag, focus problems, depth-of-field issues, or the imperfect nature of the camera lens. This paper reviews image processing, pattern recognition, and image digitization techniques, which will be useful in security services, to analyze bio-images, for image restoration, and for object classification.

An Analytical Study on the Gas-Solid Two Phase Flows

  • This paper addresses an analytical study on the gas-solid two phase flows in a nozzle. The primary purpose is to get recognition into the gas-solid suspension flows and to investigate the particle motion and its influence on the gas flow field. The present study is the primal step to comprehend the gas-solid suspension flow in the convergent-divergent nozzle. This paper try to made a development of an analytical model to study the back pressure ratio, particles loading and the particle diameter effect on gas-solid suspension flow. Mathematical model of gas-solid two phase flow was developed based on the single phase flow models to solve the quasi-one-dimensional mass, momentum equations to calculate the steady pressure field. The influence of particles loading and particle diameter is analyzed. The results obtained show that the suspension flow of smaller diameter particles has almost same trend as that of single phase flow using ideal gas as working fluid. And the presence of particles will weaken the strength of the shock wave; the bigger particle will have larger slip velocity with gas flow. The thrust coefficient is found to be higher for larger particles/gas loading or back pressure ratio, but it also depends on the ambient pressure.

  • The cost competitive products buyers through the e-commerce are growing steadily every year due to the development of the Internet. Furniture and home appliances buyers through the e-commerce, on the other hand, aren't growing cause it's impossible to check the size and harmony with interior. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce arrangement system for furniture and home appliances based on augmented reality and motion recognition to provide service which checks the size and harmony with interior by arranging them virtually before purchasing.

  • A lot of research has been done on pipe climbing robots to investigate the aging pipe structures of nuclear power plants and petrochemical plants. Nevertheless, most of the research on pipe climbing robots focused on the structural design and foundational motion control of pipe climbing robots. So, For the operator to control the pipe climbing robot, it has many difficulties to climb the pipe and avoid obstacles by manual operation. In this paper, propose an algorithm that recognizes obstacle by using camera images of pipe climbing robots, estimates the distance between pipe climbing robots and obstacles, and determines the position where pipe climbing robots can catch pipes to avoid obstacles between pipes.

Development of ROS2-on-Yocto-based Thin Client Robot for Cloud Robotics (클라우드 연동을 위한 ROS2 on Yocto 기반의 Thin Client 로봇 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose an embedded robot system based on "ROS2 on Yocto" that can support various robots. We developed a lightweight OS based on the Yocto Project as a next-generation robot platform targeting cloud robotics. Yocto Project was adopted for portability and scalability in both software and hardware, and ROS2 was adopted and optimized considering a low specification embedded hardware system. We developed SLAM, navigation, path planning, and motion for the proposed robot system validation. For verification of software packages, we applied it to home cleaning robot and indoor delivery robot that were already commercialized by LG Electronics and verified they can do autonomous driving, obstacle recognition, and avoidance driving. Memory usage and network I/O have been improved by applying the binary launch method based on shell and mmap application as opposed to the conventional Python method. Finally, we verified the possibility of mass production and commercialization of the proposed system through performance evaluation from CPU and memory perspective.

  • In this paper, a monitoring program that can automatically determine whether a patient admitted to an isolation room acts out of a stable state through a screen photographed in real time is described. The motion recognition model of this program was built by learning through transfer learning. 900 images were used for the three movements, and this program was developed for the web to support all environments. The model was determined with high accuracy to determine the state of the subject hospitalized in the isolation room, and can be applied by applying it to the existing isolation room monitoring system.
