  • Main components of metakaolin(MK) were $SiO_2\;and\;Al_2O_3$. and specific surface was 2.2 times larger than that of ordinary portland cement(OPC). MK indicated the fine particle and fiber texture. Flow value of mortar with MK was decreased linearly each $13\%$ as the replacement ratio of MK was increased each $5\%$. Compressive strength of mortar with MK was increased more than that of mortar with OPC by 3days. Compressive strength of mortar with $10\%$ MK was about 83MPa at 28 days. When MK was replaced with $10\%$ of cement volume, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of mortar was indicated the maximum value at 28 days.

  • In this study the characteristics of adiabatic and lightweight of cement mortar was improved by using porous Bottom ash which was industrial waste. when a foaming agent was added, the characteristics of mortar using sand and Bottom ash were compared. From the empirical results the heat-transfer ratio for the mortar using Bottom ash only was shown the lower values than that for a general mortar, and the lightweight concrete with unit weight of 1.5t/$\textrm{m}^3$ could be made. When the foaming agent of 0.25% and 0.5% in usage of cement was added to that, the compressive strength scould be measured as 5 and 8times of the general mortar respectively. Also, the characteristics of adiabatic for that mortar was great improved so that the heat-transfer ratio was fallen to 0.172kcal/$mh^{\circ}C$.

  • Accumulations of worn-out automobile tires creat fire and health hazards. As a possible solution to the problem of scrap-tire disposal, an experimental study was conducted to examine the potential of using tire chips as aggregate in rubber mortar. This paper examines strength and toughness properties of rubber mortar in which different amounts of rubber-tire particles of several sizes were used as aggregate. The rubber mortar mixtures exhibited lower compressive, bending, tensile than did normal mortar. However, these mixtures did not demonstrate brittle failure, but rather a ductile, plastic failure, and had the ability to absorb a large amount of plastic energy under compressive loads.

  • This paper presents results of an experimental study which investigates the effect of industrial pozzolan made from calcined silt of dam at $750^{\circ}C$ for 5 h, on mechanical properties and durability of ordinary mortar, compared to the silica fume. Mortar specimens prepared with 5, 10 and 15 % of calcined silt to substitute cement were evaluated for their compressive and flexural strength, sulfate, acid and penetration of chloride ions resistance. The results were compared with ordinary mortar (without addition) and mortar containing 10 % of silica fume. The results obtained showed that the calcined silt of dam has a high potential to be used as a pozzolanic material, it improves the strength and the durability of mortar and compete the silica fume.

  • The objective of this study was to develop a polymer mortar protection block with high strength and durability using unsaturated polyester resin to complement defects of conventional cement mortar protection block. Physical and mechanical properties of the polymer mortar protection block were also investigated. Low absorptivity, high impact strength, and great bending strength of the polymer mortar protection block was compared with those of the conventional cement protection block. In conclusion, the polymer mortar protection block is excellent and useful as industrial products for erosion control works.

  • Tn this present study, the superhydrophobic surface was developed on the cement mortar surface by using water repellent materials. For better superhydropohicity, it was developed by using silane as binder and which was enriched with filler materials of SiO2 and TiO2 nanomaterials. Those nanomaterials enriched with silanes were admixed in cement mortar during casting time and another was coated on the cement mortar surface. The water repellent properties of spray coated and admixed cement mortars were evaluated by measuring the contact angle which was compared with normal cement mortar.

  • This research utilizes the modified sulfur having the low melting point which 65℃ is tries to study the strength property of the mortar according to the cure method of the modified sulfur mortar. And we try to use as basic data for investigating the curing condition of the light panel optimum utilizing the modified sulfur. We experimented by five kinds; 20℃ water curing method and 20, 40, 60, 80(℃) air dry curing method. In 3 day curing, the compressive strength was improved caused by high curing temperature. But the compressive strength was degraded caused by enhanced temperature in 7day curing and 28day curing. Therefore, the curing temperature of the modified sulfur mortar is determined that it comes 20 time case curing and the water curing is the most recommendable.

  • Mortar is produced with different degrees of temperature and ratios of admixture materials. In order to produce strength mortar, the degree of temperature and the ratio of admixture materials must be optimized. This paper examines experimental effects by applying certain degrees of temperature and ratios of admixture materials to statistically understand the changes in the strength of mortar. The Taguchi method is used for the above-mentioned optimization problem. Firstly, factorial ANOVA is used to investigate the difference of means between the experiments. Due to the significant differences in obtained means, the regression analysis is applied. On the other hand, the effects of the varying degrees of temperature and admixture ratios are presented via 3D plots. Finally, the statistical results of ANOVA and Taguchi indicate that degree of temperature and the different ratios of admixture materials can affect the behaviour of mortar under the tests.

  • It is reported that a lot of sludge powder is produced during the process of manufacturing crushed fine aggregate in mines. However, there is a limitation on the its use that most of them are disposed and wasted, which cause environmental pollution. Therefore, in this paper, tests are carried out in order to recycle sludge powder as filler for cement mortar products. Kinds of aggregates and mix proportion of mortar are varied under various contents of sludge powder. According to test results, it is found that cement mortar products using sludge powder as substitution of fine aggregate about 10% have better qualities than those without sludge powder.

  • We encapsulate the core materials which have long term resisting properties to the insect. We also try to apply those capsules to the mortar and concrete which is used for the structures and ornament materials. Various membrane structures and sizes of microcapsule are tested and construction properties of the mortar and concrete which contain microcapsules are examined. The capsuled are confirmed by SEM and optical microscope. Finally the microcapsules with anti-insect which can be used for the mortar and concrete are developed through the various experiments and mock-up tests.
