  • The mold transformer has anti-burnt and possibility of small size contrary to oil-immersed transformer. The mold transformer has generally cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil and also made by one body molding for small size and low loss. In this paper, the temperature distribution of designed 50kVA pole mold transformer for power distribution is investigated by FEM program. The designed transformer is also manufactured and temperature rise test is carried out.

  • This paper presents the electric field for 22.9[kV]/380[V], 2[MVA] mold transformer are analysed using FEM(finite element method). The electric field was calculated for the voltage applied to the transformer. Then, it is analysed that the maximum electric field occurred between high voltage turns. Capacitance is calculated with energy method. Surge impulse test simulation is studied by modeling circuit with capacitance and inductance. This paper obtain the result that is about influence of electric field in distribution mold transformer adopted.

  • Especially, demands for the noise reduction of mold transformer has been becoming an common issue because it has been used mainly at the residence area such as building and ship. So, this paper investigates the noise source and countermeasure of mold transformer radiated high noise abnormally. The result of impact hammering test for core of transformer ascertains the core resonance by harmonics of line frequency and high noise can be reduced to avoid core resonance by changing torque strength of tie rod. Magnetic field analysis is performed to identify the reason that noise of V-phase is higher than U and W-phase in the normal condition. It is the cause that flux density and magnetic force of V-phase is higher than the other phase respectively.

  • The mold transformer is a complex and critical component of DC substations in Metro system. In this paper, a cost effective and intelligent condition monitoring system for mold transformers in DC substations was developed. This paper also provides an overview of the management program using PD (partial discharge) data on mold transformers. Prior to application of the proposed system to Metro DC substations, experiments were performed at the metro line substation located in Seoul and presented case studies for the use of the intelligent condition monitoring system for mold transformer in DC substations. The experiment results indicated that the developing system can be need in helping mange the risk of unexpected failure of mold type transformers.

  • This dissertationhas confirmed the non-flam mability of cast mold transformer that is increasingly used lately. As a research progress, the investigation has been performed on the installation status and each line of the subway system which have the most mold transformer accidents, and the impediment status of the transformer for rectifier and the high-voltage distribution transformer per each manufacturer. Then, a high voltage mold of the actual mold transformer has been installed in the horiwntal heating furnace and the heat has been applied by the standard heating temperature curve of KSF 2257(Fireproof testing meth od of the construction structures: 1993). Accordingly, the combustibility of the mold transformer based on the test results has been found that 78 minutes has been required for the complete burning per the KSF 2257 combustion test curve and that, after stopping the heat application of the horizontal furnace after ignition, the flame progress has not been made but shown as the self-extinguishing characteristics when the flame progress has been checked. Thus, the non-flammability and self-extinguishability of the mold transformer have been confirmed. The result of this dissertation has indicated that the accident involving mold transformer has been progressed and expanded by the dielectric breakdown or void due to the crack in the mold rather than a fire accident caused by a short-circuit or an overload.r an overload.

  • Electric railroad transformer of a supply of Operation power of DC electric cars is intense fluctuation of load and flows the only big short-circuit current as a accident of the power system. it is a peculiarity more severe than general power transformer. Consequently, researches the properties about the rectifier mold transformer of DC substation and applies with data of safety of the electric railroad transformer. This paper analyzed a failure mode, the accident occurrence scenario and the be latent dangerous unit against the rectifier mold transformer of DC railway system.

  • When the large-capacity Mold type Transformer was passed through rain, after it was dried and it's parts were changed, Insulation Diagnosis was made to evaluate the condition of it and decide to recharge. Using the evaluation of Insulation Diagnosis, the urgent decision-making for recharge made blackout time minimum. In this study, it was considered that Insulation Diagnosis for the large-capacity Mold type Transformer is applied to decision-making for reuse of high voltage electric power equipment by analysis of the case study.

  • This paper describes the analysis of vibration signals of distorted mold transformer. For experiment, the acceleration sensors were adhered on the surface of winding and on the core. The vibration signals measured as variation of control variables were analyzed using data acquisition system. It was shown that the vibration signals of distorted mold transformer were distinguished from those of normal mold transformer.

  • In order to development of diagnosis system for mold transformer, partial discharge measurement technique is recommended the best effective method for the evaluation of insulation condition on high voltage winding part. However, this technique was not applied to mold transformer yet. The purpose of this paper is to describe the method of partial discharge measurement for mold transformer with coupling sensor and measuring system. As we reviewed and developed the on-line partial discharge test technique, ceramic coupling sensor, measuring system, terminal box and index parameters.
