  • Document page segmentation is an important step in building a quality optical character recognition module. The study examined already existing work on the topic of page segmentation and focused on the development of a segmentation model that has greater functional significance for application in an organization, as well as broad capabilities for managing the quality of the model. The main problems of document segmentation were highlighted, which include a complex background of intersecting objects. As classes for detection, not only classic text, table and figure were selected, but also additional types, such as signature, logo and table without borders (or with partially missing borders). This made it possible to pose a non-trivial task of detecting non-standard document elements. The authors compared existing neural network architectures for object detection based on published research data. The most suitable architecture was RetinaNet. To ensure the possibility of quality control of the model, a method based on neural network modeling using the RetinaNet architecture is proposed. During the study, several models were built, the quality of which was assessed on the test sample using the Mean average Precision metric. The best result among the constructed algorithms was shown by a model that includes four neural networks: the focus of the first neural network on detecting tables and tables without borders, the second - seals and signatures, the third - pictures and logos, and the fourth - text. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the approach based on four neural networks showed the best results in accordance with the objectives of the study on the test sample in the context of most classes of detection. The method proposed in the article can be used to recognize other objects. A promising direction in which the analysis can be continued is the segmentation of tables; the areas of the table that differ in function will act as classes: heading, cell with a name, cell with data, empty cell.

  • Log data collected from mobile devices contain diverse and meaningful personal information. However, it is not easy to implement a context-aware mobile agent using this personal information due to the inherent limitation in mobile platform such as memory capacity, computation power and its difficulty of analysis of the data. We propose a method of selective inference for modular Bayesian Network for context-aware mobile agent with effectiveness and reliability. Each BN module performs inference only when it can change the result by comparing to the history module which contains evidences and posterior probability, and gets results effectively using a method of influence score of the modules. We adopt memory decay theory and virtual linking method for the evaluation of the reliability and conservation of casual relationship between BN modules, respectively. Finally, we confirm the usefulness of the proposed method by several experiments on mobile phones.

  • This paper investigates the output powers of PV modules by predicting three unknown parameters: reverse saturation current, and series and shunt resistances. A theoretical model using the non-uniform physical parameters of solar cells, including the temperature coefficients, voltage, current, series and shunt resistances, is proposed to obtain the I-V characteristics of PV modules. The solar irradiation effect is included in the model to improve the accuracy of the output power. Analytical and Newton methods are implemented in MATLAB to calculate a module output. Experimental data of the non-uniform solar cells for both serial and parallel connections are used to extend the implementation of the model based on the I-V equation of the equivalent circuit of the cells and to extend the application of the model to m by n modules configuration. Moreover, the theoretical model incorporates, for the first time, the variations of series and shunt resistances, reverse saturation current and irradiation for easy implementation in real power generation. Finally, this model can be useful in predicting the degradation of a PV system because of evaluating the variations of series and shunt resistances, which are critical in the reliability analysis of PV power generation.

  • The conventional semiconductor equipment has adopted SRAM module as the test pattern memory, which has a simple design and does not require refreshing. However, SRAM has its disadvantages as it takes up more space as its capacity becomes larger, making it difficult to meet the requirements of large memories and compact size. if DRAM is adopted as the semiconductor inspection equipment, it takes up less space and costs less than SRAM. However, DRAM is also disadvantageous because it requires the memory cell refresh, which is not suitable for the semiconductor examination equipments that require correct timing. Therefore, In this paper, we will proposed an algorithm for punctuality guarantee of memory-free inspection equipment using DDR2 SDRAM. And we will Developed memory controller using punctuality guarantee algorithm. As the results, show that when we adopt the DDR2 SDRAM, we can get the benefits of saving 13.5 times and 5.3 times in cost and space, respectively, compared to the SRAM.

  • The Viterbi decoders can be classified into serial Viterbi decoders and parallel Viterbi decoders. Parallel Viterbi decoders can handle higher data rates than serial Viterbl decoders. This paper designs and implements a fully parallel Viterbi decoder for high speed multimedia communications. For high speed operations, the ACS (Add-Compare-Select) module consisting of 64 PEs (Processing Elements) can compute one stage in a clock. In addition, the systolic away structure with 32 pipeline stages is developed for the TB (traceback) module. The implemented Viterbi decoder can support code rates 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 using punctured codes. We have developed Verilog HDL models and performed logic synthesis. The 0.6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ SAMSUNG KG75000 SOG cell library has been used. The implemented Viterbi decoder has about 100,400 gates, and is running at 70 MHz in the worst case simulation.

  • In this paper to cope with the reduction of products life-cycle as the variety of products along with the various demands of consumers, a virtual simulator is developed to make the changeover of manufacturing line efficient to embody a virtual simulation similar to a real manufacturing line. The developed virtual simulator can design a layout of a factory and make the time scheduling. Every factory has one simulator so that one product can be manufactured in the factories to use them as virtual factories. We suggest a scheme that heightens the agility to the diversity of manufacturing models by making the information of manufacturing lines and products models to be shared. The developed unit simulator can construct a proper virtual manufacturing line along with the required process of products using several kinds of operator and work cell. A user with the simulator can utilize an interface that makes one to manage the separate task process for each manu(acturing module, change operator components and work cells, and easily teach tasks of each task module. The developed simulator was made for users convenience by Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 that can develop a program supplying graphic user interface environment and by OpenGL of the Silicon Graphics as a graphic library to embody 3D graphic environment. Also, we show that the simulator can be used efficiently for the agile manufacturing by the communication among the factories being linked by TCP/IP and a hybrid database system made by a hierarchical model and a relational model being developed to standardize the data information.

  • This study aimed at developing a down jacket prototype that utilized sunlight as an alternative energy source with no air pollution. The jacket is filled with flexible solar panels and has a heat-generating function and LED function. In this study, three smart down jacket prototypes were developed, and the jacket's capabilities were demonstrated through the thermal effect on the performance test. The typical output voltage of the flexible solar panels was 6.4V. By connecting the 2 solar cell modules in series, the final output voltage was 12.8V. A battery charge regulator module was used the KA 7809 (TO-220) of 9V. Three heating pads were to be inserted into the belly of the jacket as direct thermal heating elements, and the LED module was configured, separated by a flash and an indicator. The smart down jacket was designed to prevent damage to the down pack without the individual devices' interfering with the human body's motion. Because this study provides insulation from extreme cold with a purpose, the jacket was tested for heat insulation properties of non-heating, heating on the back, heating on the abdomen, and heating on both the back and abdomen in a sitting posture in a static state. Thermal property analysis results from examining the average skin temperature, core temperature, and the temperature and humidity within clothing showed, that placing a heating element in one place was more effective than distributing the heating elements in different locations. Heating on the back was the most effective for maintaining optimal skin temperature, core temperature, and humidity, whereas heating on the abdomen was not effective for maintaining optimal skin temperature, core temperature, or humidity within clothing because of the gap between the jacket and the body.

  • The main objective of this study is to extract the hydro-Parameter of the Tamjin River basin. A CIS is capable of extracting various hydrological factors from DEM. One of important tasks for hydrological analysis is the division of watershed. In this study, watershed itself and other geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a CIS technique. The data of topographical map with scale of 1:25,000 and 1:250,000 in the Tamjin River basin is used for this study and it is converted to DEM date. Various forms of representation of spatial data are handled in main modules and a CRID module of ArcView. A GRID module is used on a stream in order to define watershed boundary. Based on the spatial analysis using those GIS technique, it would be possible to obtain the reasonable results of watershed characteristics. Also, the results show not only that GIS can aid watershed management, research and surveillance, but also that the geometric characteristics as parameters of watershed can be quantified more accurately and easily than conventional graphic methods. From the equations($Y=14632.87{\cdot}X^{-0.542444},\;Y=37014.1{\cdot}X^{-1.058808}$), it can be concluded that the optimal count of flow accumulation is 468 and cell size is 42m for spatial analysis by using GIS technique in Tamjin River basin.
