  • The effect of aminosiloxane modifier on the chemorheological properties of ortho-cresol novolac epoxy/phenol novelac/triphnylphosphine resin system was investigated aat different isothermal curing temperatures. By adding the aminosiloxane to the resin system, not only conversion rate and conversion were increased but also glass transition temperature was promoted. Critical conversion and gelation time obtained at the crossover point between storage and loss moduli were reduced and thus the viscosity was increased by the aminosiloxane. $C_1$ and $C_2$ in the WLF equation calculated from the glass transition temperature as a function of conversion and measured viscosity were found to vary with the curing temperature. By applying the change of glass transition temperature with conversion, $C_1$ and $C_2$ to WLF equation, it was possible to predict accurately the viscosity change with isothermal curing reaction.

  • Ryu et al. proposed a multiple target angle-tracking algorithm with efficient equation for angular innovation, and Ryu's algorithm has good feature that it has no data association problem. Ryu's algorithm is only applicable to linear sensor array, because its efficient equation for angular innovation is derived in case of using a linear sensor array. In a many fields studying multiple target angle-tracking, the various shapes of sensor array are used. In sonar, a cylindrical sensor array is as much used as a linear sensor array, a example is hull mounted sonar. In this paper, Ryu's algorithm is modified to be applicable to cylindrical sensor array, and the tracking performance of a modified algorithm is verified by various computer simulations.

  • A modified Ignition and Growth(I&G) model which is necessary to simulate the combustion phenomena of energetic materials and an analytical model determining the unknown parameters of the reaction rate equation are proposed. The modified I&G model sustains important physical implications with overcoming some problems of previous rate equations. This rate model consist of Ignition term which represent the formation of the hotspot due to void collapse and Growth term which means the shock to detonation transition phenomena. Also, the theoretical model is used to investigate the combustion characteristics of certain energetic materials before running Hydrocode by pre-determination of unknown parameter, b, G, x, I. The analytical model provides efficient and highly accurate results rather than previous method which simulated the unconfined-rate-stick via the numerical means.

  • The objective of this study was to propose a development length equation for GFRP bars. A total of 104 modified pullout tests were completed while the test variables were embedment length (15, 30, $45d_b$), net cover thickness ($0.5{\sim}2.0d_b$), top-cast bar effect, different GFRP bar types (K2KR, K3KR and AsUS), and bar diameters (10, 13, 16 mm). Average bond stresses were determined based on modified pullout test results. Two variable linear regression analysis was performed of the average bond stresses. Utilizing 5% fractile concept, a conservative development length design equation was derived. The design equation derived in this study was compared to the ACI 440 committee equation. The cross-comparison revealed that the current equation resulted in shorter development lengths than those determined by the ACI 440 equation when the net cover thickness was large (greater than $1.0d_b$). On the other hand, when the net cover thickness was small (equal to or less than $1.0d_b$), the development lengths required by the current equation were larger than those by the ACI equation. The bond stresses were significantly influenced by the cover thicknesses. The current equation results in development lengths that are more economical when the cover thickness is large, and more conservative lengths when the cover thickness is small than the ACI 440 committee equation.

  • In cases sufficient conditions for the semilocal convergence of Newtonlike methods are violated, we start with a modified Newton-like method (whose weaker convergence conditions hold) until we stop at a certain finite step. Then using as a starting guess the point found above we show convergence of the Newtonlike method to a locally unique solution of a nonlinear operator equation in a Banach space setting. A numerical example is also provided.

  • An algorithm for a solution of ordinary differential equations using a modified corrector in the Adams predictor-corrector method of order four is described. The Lagrange interpolation used in the corrector of the Adams method is replaced partially by the cubic spline interpolation satisfying the first derivative constraints at the two end points. By exhibiting three examples, we show that the proposed method is more effcient when the solution of a differential equation is highly oscillating.

  • A combined form of the modified Laplace Adomian decomposition method (LADM) is developed for the analytic treatment of the nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integro differential equations. This method is effectively used to handle nonlinear integro differential equations of the first and the second kind. Finally, some examples will be examined to support the proposed analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a combined form for solving nonlinear interval Volterra-Fredholm integral equations of the second kind based on the modifying Laplace Adomian decomposition method. We find the exact solutions of nonlinear interval Volterra-Fredholm integral equations with less computation as compared with standard decomposition method. Finally, an illustrative example has been solved to show the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • In this paper an analytical study is carried out to improve the capacity of absorbing boundary using dashpot, one of the most widely used absorbing boundaries in FEM. Using harmonic plane wave equation, absorbing boundary condition is modified to maximize its capacity according to the incident angle. Validity of the modified absorbing boundary conditions is investigated by adopting the solution of Miller-Pursey which is the solution for the wave propagation in semi-infinite elastic media, and the absorption ratio is calculated according to various Poisson's ratios.

  • In this paper, the analysis of the gas flow in the GCB is presented by using the modified FLIC method and the arc model. The modified FLIC method has two step calculation procedure. And it adopts the upwind scheme, which results in the stability.[1] The arc model used in this paper makes arc a heating source in the energy equation. The heating source is composed of ohmic heating and radiation energy transfer. And the type of the GCB in this paper is a auto-expansion type.[2]
