  • In this paper, a real-coefficient approach to Adaptive Frequency Sampling (AFS) technique is developed for efficient equivalent circuit modeling of RF components. This proposed method is advantageous than the vector fitting technique and the conventional AFS method in terms of fewer samples leading to a lower order of a rational function on a given data and to a direct conversion to an equivalent circuit for PSPICE(Personal Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphsis) simulation, respectively. To validate the proposed method, the distributed equivalent circuit of a presented multi-layered RF low-pass filter is obtained using the proposed real-coefficient AFS, and then comparisons with EM simulation and circuit simulation for the device under consideration are achieved.

  • During the last few decades, excavation automation has been investigated to protect the operator from the hazardous working environment and to relieve the cost of the skilled operator. Therefore, a number of modelling and controller design methods of the hydraulic excavator are proposed in many literatures to realize the excavation automation. In this article, a geometric approach far the multi-body system modeling is adopted to develop the excavator mechanism model that contains 4 kinematic loops and 12 links. Considering a simple soil mechanism model with a number of uncertain soil parameters, an adaptive trajectory tracking control strategy based on the developed excavator model is proposed. The improved performance of the designed controller over the simple PID controller is validated via the simulation study.

  • Analysis of the internal state of the blast furnace is needed to predict and control the operating condition. Especially, it is important to develop modeling of blast furnace for predicting cohesive zone because shape of cohesive zone influences overall operating condition of blast furnace such as gas flow, chemical reactions and temperature. because many previous blast furnace models assumed cohesive zone to be fixed, they can't evaluate change of cohesive zone shape by operation condition such as PCR, blast condition, and production rate. In this study, an axi-symmetric 2-dimensional steady state model is proposed to simulate blast furnace process. In this model, cohesive zone is changed by solid temperature range, FVM is used for numerical simulation. To find location of cohesive zone whole calculation procedure is iterated Until cohesive zone is converged. Through this approach, shape of cohesive zone, velocity, composition and temperature within the furnace are predicted by model.

  • Operation parameters for large scale industrial facility such as iron making plant are carefully selected through elaborate tests and monitoring rather than through a mathematical modeling. One of the recent progresses for better energy utilization in iron ore sintering process is the distribution pattern of fuel inside a macro particle which is formed with fines of iron ore, coke and limestone. Results of model tests which have been used as a basis for the improved operation in the field are introduced and a theoretical modeling study is presented to supplement the experiment-based approach with fundamental arguments of physical modeling, which enables predictive computation beyond the limited region of tests and adjustment. A single fuel particle model along with one-dimensional bed combustion model of solid particles are utilized, and thermal processes of combustion and heat transfer are found to be dominant consideration in the discussions of productivity and energy utilization in the sintering process.

  • As functional requirement of massive digital information storage devices are on a trend for the higher data transfer rate and lower cost, many different technical efforts are being tested and implemented in the industry. FDB(Fluid Dynamic Soaring) is one of the major breakthroughs in rotor design in terms of TMR budget. Although FDB analysis based on Reynolds' equation is well established and popularly being used for DB design especially for the estimation of bearing stiffness, there are obvious limitations in the approach due to the inherent assumptions. A generalized analysis tool employing the full Navier-Stokes equation and the energy balance is to be beneficial for detailed FDB design In this publication, an efficient geometry modeling method is presented that provides fully integrated inputs for general FVM/FDM codes. By virtue of the flexibility of the presented method, many different detailed FDB design and analysis are carried over with ease.

  • In this study, structural vibration analyses for a 5MW offshore wind wind-turbine model have been performed for different substructure models. The efficient equivalent modeling method based on computational multi-body dynamics are applied to the finite element models of the present offshore wind turbines. Monopile and tri-pod substructure types of the typical offshore wind-turbine are considered herein. Detailed finite element modeling concepts and boundary conditions are described and the comparison results for previous analyses are presented in order to show the verification of the present numerical approach. Campbell diagrams are also present to investigate the rotational resonance characteristics of the offshore wind-turbines with different substructures.

  • This paper presents the generalized dynamic modeling of self-excited induction generator (SEIG) using state-space approach. The proposed dynamic model consists of induction generator; self-excitation capacitance and load model are expressed in stationary d-q reference frame with the actual saturation curve of the machine. An artificial neural network model is implemented to estimate the machine magnetizing inductance based on the knowledge of magnetizing current. The dynamic performance of SEIG is investigated under no load, with the load, perturbation of load, short circuit at stator terminals, and variation of prime mover speed, variation of capacitance value by considering the effect of main and cross-flux saturation. During voltage buildup the variation in magnetizing inductance is taken into consideration. The performance of SEIG system under various conditions as mentioned above is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the simulation results demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed system.

  • Business processes are often of long duration, and include internal worker's decision making, which makes business processes to be exposed to many exceptional situations. These properties of business processes makes it difficult to design processes to support uncertainties from internal or external environments. The behavioral properties of business processes mainly depends on the data aspects of business processes. To formalize the data aspect of process modeling, this paper proposes a graph-based model, called Data Dependency Graph (DDG), constructed from dependency relationships specified between business data. The paper also defines a mechanism of describing a set of mapping rules that generates a process model semantically equivalent to a DDG, which is accomplished by allocating data dependencies to component activities.

  • It is quite necessary that an organization's information network should be equipped with a proper security system based on its scale and importance. One of the effective methods is to use the simulation model for deciding which security policy and mechanism is appropriate for the complex network. Our goal is to build a foundation of knowledge-based modeling and simulation environment for the network security. With this environment, users can construct the abstracted model of security mechanisms, apply various security policies, and quantitatively analyze their security performance against possible attacks. In this study, we considered security domain from several points of view and implemented the models based on a systematic modeling approach. We enabled the model to include knowledge in modular fashion and provided well-defined guidelines for transforming security policy to concrete rule set.

  • This study presents an approach to predict insulation resistance failure of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) using non-linear modeling. A capacitance aging model created by non-linear modeling allowed for the prediction of insulation resistance failure. The MLCC data tested under temperature-humidity-bias testing conditions showed that a change in capacitance, when measured against a capacitance aging model, was able to provide a prediction of insulation resistance failure.
