  • In this paper, we propose an efficient packet forwarding method for an IP-based wireless Internet access network. Packets are forwarded along with a flow, that is a kind of connection-oriented connection and established before delivering packets. For this purpose, we also propose a flow resolution method and a modified IPv6 header for delivering packet in the wireless Internet access network. In addition, the method to support the mobility of mobile stations is explained, and the implementation issues are discussed. In order to estimate the performance of the proposed method, we analyzed the delay time to deliver packets in the wireless Internet access network. The numerical results show that the proposed method is very efficient, in the view point of delay.

  • Wireless network solution is used in many area because of free mobility and easy of establishment. Sensors that compose wireless network need protocol that support wireless communication to share information each other. As representative protocol, we currently witnessed IPv6 protocol. However, due to the limitation of sensors's electric power and computing ability, it is inefficient that each sensors use this protocol. In this paper, we designed improved sensor circuit that can heighten energy efficiency in sensor network to solve these problem and composed algorithm that can pare down energy consumption using method to make unnecessary sensor in sleep-mode.

  • In the wireless Internet, it is so restrictive to use the IPSec. The MIPv4 IPSec's path cannot include wireless links. That is, the IPSec of the wireless Internet cannot protect an entire path of Host-to-Host connection. Also wireless circumstance keeps a path static during the shorter time, nevertheless, the IKE for IPSec SA agreement requires relatively long delay. The certificate management of IPSec PKI security needs too much burden. This means that IPSec of the wireless Internet is so disadvantageous. Our paper is to construct the Mobile IPSec proper to the wireless Internet which provides the host-to-host transport mode service to protect even wireless links as applying excellent WP-IBE scheme. For this, Mobile IPSec requires a dynamic routing over a path with wireless links. FA Forwarding is a routing method for FA to extend the path to a newly formed wireless link. The FA IPSec SA for FA Forwarding is updated to comply the dynamically extended path using Source Routing based Bind Update. To improve the performance of IPSec, we apply efficient and strong future Identity based Weil Pairing Bilinear Elliptic Curve Cryptography called as WP-IBE scheme. Our paper proposes the modified protocols to apply 6 security-related algorithms of WP-IBE into the Mobile IPSec. Particularly we focus on the protocols to be applied to construct ESP Datagram.

  • Network Mobility basic support protocol (NEMO Basic) extends the operation of Mobile IPv6 to provide uninterrupted Internet connectivity to the communicating nodes of mobile networks. The protocol uses a mobile router (MR) in the mobile network to perform prefix scope binding updates with its home agent (HA) to establish a bi-directional tunnel between the HA and MR. This solution reduces location-update signaling by making network movements transparent to the mobile nodes (MNs) behind the MR. However, delays in data delivery and higher overheads are likely to occur because of sub-optimal routing and multiple encapsulation of data packets. To manage the mobility of the mobile network, it is important to minimize packet overhead, to optimize routing, and to reduce the volume of handoff signals over the nested mobile network. This paper proposes en aggregate router-assisted route optimization (ARARO) scheme for nested mobile networks support which introduces a local anchor router in order to localize handoff and to optimize routing. With ARARO, a mobile network node (MNN) behind a MR performs route optimization with a correspondent node (CN) as the MR sends a binding update message (BU) to aggregate router (AGR) via root-MR on behalf of all active MNNs when the mobile network moves. This paper describes the new architecture and mechanisms and provides simulation results which indicate that our proposal reduces transmission delay, handoff latency and signaling overhead. To evaluate the scheme, we present the results of simulation.

  • This paper focuses on message complexity performance analysis of MANET AAPs in reference to link errors generated by the mobile wireless nodes. To obtain the message complexity performance of AAPs in reference to the link error probability ($P_e$), an enhancement was made by proposing the retransmission limit (S) to be computed for error recovery (based on the link error probability), and then for each of the AAPs the control procedures for the retransmission limit have been properly included. The O-notation has been applied in analyzing the upper bound of the number of messages generated by a MANET group of N nodes. Based on a link error probability range of $P_e=0$ to 0.8, the AAPs investigated in this paper are Strong DAD, Weak DAD with proactive routing protocol (WDP), Weak DAD with on-demand routing protocol (WDO), and MANETconf. Based on the simulation results and analysis of the message complexity, for nominal situations, the message complexity of WDP was lowest, closely followed by WDO. The message complexity of MANETconf is higher than that of WDO, and Strong DAD results to be most complex among the four AAPs.

  • With the dramatic increase in mobile traffic in recent years, some of the limitations of mobility management frameworks have magnified. The current centralized mobility management (CMM) strategy has various problems, such as a suboptimal routing path, low scalability, signaling overhead, and a single point of failure. To overcome these weaknesses in the CMM strategy, the Internet Engineering Task Force has been discussing distributed mobility management (DMM) strategies. The fundamental concept of a DMM strategy is to distribute the mobility anchors closer to the users. While the distribution of mobility anchors results in low-cost traffic delivery, it increases the signaling cost. To reduce this higher signaling cost, we propose a new DMM strategy applying the pointer forwarding technique. The proposed strategy keeps the existing tunnels and extends the traffic path as much as possible. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the pointer forwarding-DMM strategy and discuss its pros and cons.

  • This article presents a field evaluation of an IP-based architecture for heterogeneous environments that has been developed under the aegis of the Moby Dick project, covering UMTS-like (universal mobile telecommunications system) TD-CDMA (time division-code division multiple access) wireless access technology, wireless and wired LANs. The architecture treats all transmission capabilities as basic physical and data-link layers, and replaces all higher-level tasks by IP-based strategies. The Moby Dick architecture incorporates mobile IPv6, fast handovers, AAA-control (authentication, authorisation, accounting), charging and quality of service (QoS) in an integrated framework. The architecture further allows for optimised control on the radio link layer resources. It has been implemented and tested by expert users, and evaluated by real users on field trials with multiple services available.

  • Mobile traffic is increasing a masse because of the propagation of the Internet and the development of wireless mobile technology. Accordingly, the Network Local Mobility Management (NETLMM) working group [1] of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) [2] as a protocol for accomplishing the transmissibility of mobile terminals. PMIPv6 is a network-led IP-based mobility management protocol, which can control terminal mobility without depending on the type of access system or the capability of the terminal. By combining PMIPv6 and the mobility of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), we can establish terminal mobility and session mobility through a more effective route. The mobility function can be improved and the overlap of function reduced as compared to that in the case of independent operation. PMIPv6 is appropriate for a non-real-time service using TCP, and SIP is appropriate for a real-time service using RTP/UDP. Thus, in the case of a terminal using both services, an effective mobility management is possible only by using PMIPv6 together with SIP. In order to manage mobility in this manner, researches on PMIPv6-SIP are in progress. In line with this trend, this paper suggests a new PMIPv6-SIP architecture where when a mobile terminal conducts a handover, a network-led handover while maintaining the session without the addition of a special function or middleware is possible along with effective performance evaluation through mathematical modeling by comparing the delay and the packet loss that occur during the handover to the Pure-SIP.

  • The rapid increase of mobile devices such as smart phone and smart pad have raised the needs for seamless multimedia services during moving at anytime and anywhere. Current 4G mobile devices are equipped with both 4G (LTE) and WLAN (WiFi) interfaces, and mobile services operators provide wireless Internet services using 4G network with a wider coverage and WiFi zone. Generally users prefer to use the Internet services through WLAN rather than LTE in the coverage of WLAN. However, since WLAN has a long L2 handover latency, it is difficult to support seamless services during a handover. In this paper, we proposed an efficient handover scheme based on flow mobility for WLANs to support a seamless service during handovers by using the overlaid 4G network with a wider coverage. Also, we showed the outperformance of the proposed scheme on a testbed.
