Robust Near Time-optimal Controller Design for a Driving System Using Lyapunov Stability (Lyapunov 안정성을 이용한 구동장치의 강인 최단시간 제어기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a high performance position controller for a driving system using a time optimal controller which has been widely used to control driving systems to achieve desired reference position or velocity in a minimum response time. The main purpose of this research lies in an improvement of transient response performance rather than that of steady-state response in comparison with other control strategies. In order to refine the scheme of time optimal control, Lyapunov stability proofs are incorporated in a controller of standard second order system model. This scheme is applied to the control of a driving system. In view of the simulation and experiment results, the standard second order system model exhibits better minimum-time control performance and robustness than double integral system model does.

  • We propose a time-optimal path planning scheme for the robot manipulator using Hopfield neural network. The time-optimal path planning, which can allow the robot system to perform the demanded tasks with a minimum execution time, may be of consequence to improve the productivity. But most of the methods proposed till now suffers from a significant computational burden and thus limits the on-line application. One way to avoid such a difficulty is to apply the neural networke technique, which can allow the parallel computation, to the minimum time problem. This paper proposes an approach for solving the time-optimal path planning by using Hopfield neural network. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrarted using a PUMA 560 manipulator.

Minimum Time Regulation of DC-DC Converters in Damping Mode with an Optimal Adjusted Sliding Mode Controller

  • In this paper, a new development in the time optimal control theory in sliding mode control systems for multi-quadrant buck converters with a variable load is presented. In general, the closed-loop time optimal control system is applied to multi-quadrant buck converters for output regulation, so that an optimal switching surface is obtained. Moreover, an adjusted optimal sliding mode controller is suggested which adjusts the controller parameters to give an optimal switching surface. In addition, a description of the transient response of the closed-loop system is proposed and used to damp any output or input disturbances in minimum time. Numerical simulations and experimental results are employed to demonstrate that the output regulation time and transient performances of dc/dc converters using the proposed technique are improved effectively when compared to the classical sliding mode control method.

  • Network uncertainties such as data loss and time delay can vary the stability property of networked control system. Therefore, these uncertainties must be considered first in designing networked control system. In this paper, we present a new stability analysis method of networked control system with data loss and time delay. The proposed method can determine maximum allowable time delay and minimum allowable transmission rate that preserves stability performance of networked control system. The results of the simulation validate effectiveness of our stability analysis method.

Proposition and Evaluation of Parallelism-Independent Scheduling Algorithms for DAGs of Tasks with Non-Uniform Execution Time

  • We propose two new algorithms for parallelism-independent scheduling. The machine code generated from the compiler using these algorithms in its scheduling phase is parallelism-independent code, executable in minimum time regardless of the number of the processors in the parallel computer. Our new algorithms have the following phases: finding the minimum number of processors on which the program can be executed in minimal time, scheduling by an heuristic algorithm for this predefined number of processors, and serialization of the parallel schedule according to the earliest start time of the tasks. At run time tasks are taken from the serialized schedule and assigned to the processor which allows the earliest start time of the task. The order of the tasks decided at compile time is not changed at run time regardless of the number of the available processors which means there is no out-of-order issue and execution. The scheduling is done predominantly at compile time and dynamic scheduling is minimized and diminished to allocation of the tasks to the processors. We evaluate the proposed algorithms by comparing them in terms of schedule length to the CP/MISF algorithm. For performance evaluation we use both randomly generated DAGs (directed acyclic graphs) and DACs representing real applications. From practical point of view, the algorithms we propose can be successfully used for scheduling programs for in-order superscalar processors and shared memory multiprocessor systems. Superscalar processors with any number of functional units can execute the parallelism-independent code in minimum time without necessity for dynamic scheduling and out-of-order issue hardware. This means that the use of our algorithms will lead to reducing the complexity of the hardware of the processors and the run-time overhead related to the dynamic scheduling.

  • It is required to transmit data through shorter path between sensor and base node for real time intrusion detection in wireless sensor networks (WSN) with a mobile base node. Because minimum Wiener index spanning tree (MWST) based routing approach guarantees lower average hop count than that of minimum spanning tree (MST) based routing method in WSN, it is known that MWST based routing is appropriate for real time intrusion detection. However, the minimum Wiener index spanning tree problem which aims to find a spanning tree which has the minimum Wiener index from a given weighted graph was proved to be a NP-hard. And owing to its high dependency on certain nodes, minimum Wiener index tree based routing method has a shorter network lifetime than that of minimum spanning tree based routing method. In this paper, we propose a multi-objective ant colony optimization algorithm to tackle these problems, so that it can be used to detect intrusion in real time in wireless sensor networks with a mobile base node. And we compare the results of our proposed method with MST based routing and MWST based routing in respect to average hop count, network energy consumption and network lifetime by simulation.

  • The minimum latency problem, also known as the traveling repairman problem and the deliveryman problem is to minimize the overall waiting times of customers, not to minimize their routing times. In this research, a genetic algorithm, a clonal selection algorithm and a population management genetic algorithm are introduced. The computational experiment shows the objective value of the clonal selection algorithm is the best among the three algorithms and the calculating time of the population management genetic algorithm is the best among the three algorithms.

  • We study the maximum integer multiflow problem and the minimum multicut problem in a ring network. Both problems in a general network are known to be NP-hard. In this paper, we develop polynomial time algorithms to solve the problems. We also prove that even In a ring network, maximum multiflow is not always integral, which implies that the amount of maximum integer flow does not always reach the minimum capacity of multicut.

  • The triangulation problem is to make triangles using the given points on the space. The Minimum Weight Triangulation(MWT) is the problem of finding a set of triangles with the minimum weight among possible set of the triangles. In this paper, a modified genetic algorithm(GA) based on an existing genetic algorithm and multispace smoothing technique is proposed. Through the computational results, we can find the tendency that the proposed GA finds good solutions though it needs longer time than the existing GA does as the problem size increases.

  • This paper suggests heuristic algorithm to obtain optimal solution of minimum number of delay aircraft in airport arrivals/departures problem. This problem can be solved only mathematical optimization method. The proposed algorithm selects the minimum delays capacity in various airport capacities for number of arrivals/departures aircraft in $i^{th}$ time interval (15 minutes). In details, we apply median selection method and left-right selection method. This algorithm can be get the optimal solution of minimum number of delay aircraft for sixes actual experimental data.
