An elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) analysis for an axially crown profiled cylindrical roller is carried out using a finite difference method and the Newton-Raphson method. Variations of the minimum film thickness with dimensionless parameters show considerably different from those of infinite solutions.
The three-dimensional Euler equations are solved numerically for the analysis of contraction flows in wind or water tunnels. A second-order finite difference method is used for the spatial discretization on the nonstaggered grid system and the 4-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for the numerical integration in time. In order to speed up the convergence, the local time stepping and the implicit residual-averaging schemes are introduced. The pressure field is obtained by solving the pressure-Poisson equation with the Neumann boundary condition. For the evaluation of the present Euler solver, numerical computations are carried out for three contraction geometries, one of which was adopted in the Large Cavitation Channel for the U.S. Navy. The comparison of the computational results with the available experimental data shows good agreement.
In this paper, we operate Synchronous Reluctance Motor(SynRM) using the two-phase conduction method. Acually SynRM is operated by the sinusoidal PWM method but in home-appliance there is many restrictions of making the motor such as the method of winding, the shape of rotor etc. Therefore it is possible that there is little difference of performance between the two-phase conduction method and the sinusoidal PWM method. In this paper the characteristics of motor noise will be analyzed especially in the case of using the two-phase conduction method by experiment results.

We are interested in an adaptive grid method for hyperbolic equations. A multiresolution analysis, based on a biorthogonal family of interpolating scaling functions and lifted interpolating wavelets, is used to dynamically adapt grid points according to the physical field profile in each time step. Traditional finite-difference schemes with fixed stencils produce high oscillations around sharp discontinuities. In this paper, we hybridize high-resolution schemes, which are suitable for capturing singularities, and apply a finite-difference approach to the scaling functions at non-singular points. We use a total variation diminishing Runge-Kutta method for the time integration. The computational cost is proportional to the number of points present after compression. We provide several numerical examples to verify our approach.
Purpose The principle of nuclear medicine test is divided into two main categories: competition(radioimmunoassay, RIA) and noncompetitive reaction(Immunoradiometric assay, IRMA). It is known that the curve fitting method, which is commonly used in inspection field, uses Spline interpolation in RIA method and Linear interpolation method in IRMA method. Among them, the insulin test using the IRMA test showed a significant difference, especially at low concentrations, despite the same algorithm of linear interpolation between fully automated radio immunoassay analyzers. In this study, we aim to obtain results from applying two different of algorithm using fully automated radio immunoassay analyzers including Gamma pro, Gamma 10, Cobra, and SR300. Materials and Methods A total of 30 test samples were selected for the test of TSH, ferritin, C-peptide, and insulin serum levels. Test was performed by IRMA method. We compared the difference in the results of applying the linear interpolation method and the spline interpolation method to Gamma Pro, Gamma 10, Cobra, and SR300 equipment. Results Two-way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. The significance level was applied as P <0.05. The results of TSH, ferritin, C-peptide, and insulin tests were compared between the fully automated radio immunoassay analyzers. There was a significant difference between ferritin, C-peptide, and insulin serum levels(P<0.001). TSH didn't show any significant different between the devices(P=0.29). In the difference between linear and spline interpolation, there was no significant difference between insulin test(P=0.08), TSH test(P=0.81), and Ferritin test(P=0.06). However, C-peptide test showed a significant difference(P=0.03). Especially, the insulin test showed significant difference in lower ranges. As a result of comparing and analyzing the difference between the two interpolation methods, the devices in the low concentration group showed significant difference(P<0.001). Conclusion In case of new equipment in the laboratory it is necessary to recognize that there is a difference in the curve fitting method for each automated radio immunoassay analyzers in the low concentration area when the principle of inspection is IRMA method.

If a hidden enemy is shooting, there is a threat against soldiers in recent conflicts. This paper aims to improve the localization of a muzzle using microphone array. Gunshot noise can provide information about the location of muzzle with two signals, the muzzle blast from the gun barrel and the projectile sound from the bullet. Two signals arrive to the microphone array with different arrival time and angle. If the arrival angles of the two signals are estimated, distance between sniper location and the microphone array can be calculated by using geometric principles. This method was established in 2003 by Pare. But this method has a limitation that it cannot calculate the distance when the arrival angles of the two signals are same. Also it has an error when the angle difference of arrival is small. In order to overcome this limitation, a new method is proposed that uses the change of characteristic of the projectile sound with respect to vertical distance from the trajectory. The proposed method estimates the distance correctly when the arrival angle of two signals are same, and when the angle difference between two signals is increased, the estimation error increases with respect to the angle. Therefore these two methods can be selected according to the angle difference between two signals to estimate the distance of the muzzle. Below the threshold of the angle difference, the proposed method can be used to estimate distance with smaller error than the existing method. This was demonstrated by shooting tests using actual sniper rifles.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of purchasing behavior on brand attitude, shopping satisfaction, and recommendation of herbal cosmetics consumer. Through judgment sampling method, selected 304 survey questionnaires were used for final analysis from herbal cosmetics consumer. With the collected data, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were performed by SPSS 14.0. The results of the analysis were summarized as follows. First, level of education no significant difference on purchasing behavior, but age, marital status, average income, and job type showed significant difference on purchasing behavior. Second, level of education and average income no significant difference on brand attitude, shopping satisfaction, and recommendation, but age, marital status, and job type showed significant difference on brand attitude, shopping satisfaction, and recommendation. Third, the reasonable purchase, conformity purchase, and conspicuous purchase impacts positively(+) influence, but impulse purchase impacts negatively(+) influence on brand attitude. Fourth, the rational purchase and conspicuous purchase impacts positively(+) influence on shopping satisfaction. Fifth, the conformity purchase and conspicuous purchase impacts positively(+) influence on recommendation.

In many machines handling lightweight and flexible media, such as automated teller machines(ATM) and printers etc., the media must transit an open space. In the paper feeding mechanism, it is important to feed the sheet without jamming under any conditions. To avoid sheet jamming, first we need to predict the behavior of the sheet exactly. The nonlinear theory of the dynamic elastica has often been used to a nonlinear dynamic deflection model. In this paper, the governing equation is derived and simulated by the finite difference method. The analysis has to include aerodynamic effect for more exact behavior analysis. For verification of the numerical simulation, the experiments were performed using high-speed camera and feeding mechanism. The experimental results show good agreement with the numerical simulations.

The emitter geolocation method using the time difference of arrival (TDOA) and the frequency difference of arrival (FDOA) has more accurate performance comparing to the single TDOA or FDOA based method. The estimation performance varies with the sensor paring strategies, the deployment and velocities of the sensors. Therefore, to establish effective strategy on the electronic warfare system, it is required to analyze the relation between the estimation accuracy and the operational condition of sensors. However, in the conventional non-iterative method, the restriction of the deployment of sensors and the reference sensor exists. Therefore, we derive the emitter geolocation method based on a Gauss-Newton method which is available to apply to any various sensor pairs and the deployment and velocities of the sensors. In addition, simulation results are included to compare the performance of geolocation method according to the used measurements: the combined TDOA/FDOA, TDOA, and FDOA. Also, we present that the combined TDOA/FDOA method outperforms over single TDOA or FDOA on the estimation accuracy with the CEP plane.
