SS41강의 부식피로 균열 전파특성에 미치는 3.5% NaCl수용액의 영향 (The effects of 3.5% NaCl solution on the corrosion fatigue crack propagation characteristics of SS41 steel)

  • The corrosion fatigue crack propagation characteristics of SS41 steel in 3.5% NaCl solution have been evaluated for loading frequencies of 1Hz and 0.2Hz. A sine wave loading profile was used for fatigue testing. Each test was carried out at a constant stress ratio, R(0.1). The main results are summarized as follows; 1. Fatigue crack propagation rate was higher in 3.5% NaCl solution than in air, higher in the base metal than in the weld metal, and higher at f =0.2Hz than at f =1Hz. 2. The crack closure level of the base metal was not influenced by cyclic frequencies, but that of the weld metal was much influenced. 3. When the crack closure effect was eliminated in the evaluation of crack propagation characteristics by using $\Delta K_{eff}$, the envirommental influence was distinctly observed. At the base metal, crack propagation rate was enhanced by the hydrogen embrittlement, and the weld metal was reduced by the crac closure. 4. There was clearly observed hydrogen embrittlement and severely corroded aspect at fracture surface of lower frequency than that of higher frequency, and at that of base metal than that of the weld metal.

An Electrochemical Evaluation on the Corrosion of Weld Zone in Cold Arc Welding of the Cast Iron

  • Cold arc welding of cast iron has been widely used with repair welding of metal structures. However its welding is often resulted in the galvanic corrosion between weld metal zone and heat affected zone(HAZ) due to increasing of hardness. In this study, corrosion properties such as hardness, corrosion potential, surface microstructures, and variation of corrosion current density of welding zone with parameters of used electrodes for cast iron welding were investigated with an electrochemical evaluation. Hardness of HAZ showed the highest value compared to other welding zone regardless of kinds of used electrodes for cast iron welding. And its corrosion potential was also shifted to more negative direction than other welding zone. In addition, corrosion current density of WM in polarization curves was qualitatively smaller than that of HAZ. Therefore galvanic corrosion may be apparently observed at HAZ. However galvanic corrosion may be somewhat controlled by using an optimum welding electrode.

부식억제제에 의한 상수도관의 부식제어 (Corrosion control of drinking water pipes by corrosion inhibitor)

  • 상수도관의 부식은 수돗물이 공급되는 과정에서 관 표면의 금속과 물 사이의 일련의 복잡한 산화/환원 반응이다. 부식으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 1차적인 고려사항은 철, 납, 동과 같은 독성이 있는 중금속이 물속에 존재할 수 있다는 것이며, 이는 상수도관에 악영향을 미치며, 세탁물을 훼손하거나 맛을 낼 수 있는 심미적인 문제도 발생된다. 본 연구에서는 부식억제제가 상수도관의 부식도, 수돗물 중의 철 및 동의 용출 농도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해서 평가하였다. 부식저감 효과는 인산염계 부식억제제와 큰 관련성이 있었다. 부식반응은 물과 관의 표면에서 이루어지는 일련의 전기화학적인 반응임을 고려하면 철의 용출농도와 부식도는 양(+)의 상관관계에 있다.

알루미늄 합금 GMAW 용접부의 전기화학적 방법에 의한 내식성 평가 (Electrochemical Corrosion Evaluation of Aluminum Alloy Weldment Prepared by GMAW Process)

  • The aim of the present study is to evaluate electrochemical corrosion characteristics of base metal and weldment of Al-Mg alloy in seawater solution. The specimen was 5mm thick 5083-H321 Al alloy plate which was butt-welded using gas metal arc welding (GMAW). To identify the types of inclusions in the weldment, the microstructural observation was performed along with Energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) analysis. The anodic polarization experiments were performed to evaluate the corrosion characteristics. After the anodic polarization test, the corroded surface was observed by SEM(scanning electron microscope) and EDS. The result of the analysis revealed a large number of voids in the weldment, especially coarse grains and inclusions in the heat affected zone. The corrosion current density of the weldment was found to be approximately 13 times higher than that of the base metal, indicating lower corrosion resistance of the weldment due to the defects in the weldment and the heat affected zone.

교류임피던스법에 의한 Nimonic 80A 초내열합금 시효열처리재의 부식거동 고찰 (The Corrosion Behavior Study by AC Impedance Method for the Aging Heat Treated Nimonic 80A Superalloy)

  • In this paper the effect of aging heat treatment to the Corrosion behavior for the Nimonic 80A superalloy was studied by AC Impedance methods. Tested solution was 3.5% with tempera-ture $25^{\circ}C$ Electro-chemical corrosion test were carried out for the Nimonic 80A super-alloy which solution heat treated at $1080^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours followed by aging heat treated at $650^{\circ}C,\;700^{\circ}C,\;750^{\circ}C\;800^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ with 16hours under vacuum environment. The obtained results were as follows; 1. Base metal and solution-treated materials were exhibited similar corrosion tendency as Ran-dle equivalent cell. The value of passive film resistance was 579 ohms for the base metal and 124,770 ohms for the solutionized metal such a difference was arose by the ${{\gamma}_^'}$ precipitate on the metal surface during heat treatment. 2. The measure value of $R_p$ for heat-treated at $650^{\circ}C,\;700^{\circ}C,\;800^{\circ}C$and $850^{\circ}C$ were 97,943, 93, 111, 26,961, 15,798 and 11,780ohm respectively. Which indicated that the passive film resistance Rp was reduced as aging temperature increased due to the growth of grain size and sensitization at the grain boundary. 3. The similar tendency was exhibited for corrosion behavior of the electro-chemical corrosion polarization method and AC impedance method and confirmed that AC impedance method was useful tool for corrosion research.

  • After etching Al-Cu alloy films using $SiCl_4/Cl_2/He/CHF_3$ plasma, a corrosion phenomenon on the metal surface has been studied with XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and SEM (Scanning electron microscopy). In Al-Cu alloy system, the corrosion occurs rapidly on the etched surface by residual chlorine atoms. To prevent the corrosion, the $SF_6$ plasma treatment subsequent to the etch has been carried out. A passivation layer is formed by fluorine-related compounds on etched Al-Cu alloy surface after $SF_6$ treatment, and the layer suppresses effectively the corrosion on the surface as the RF power of $SF_6$ treatment increases. The corrosion could be suppressed successfully with $SF_6$ treatment in the RF power of 150watts.

  • Super duplex stainless steels have been used for offshore oil and gas piping systems which are subject to corrosion atmosphere, because they have excellent resistance to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) and Pitting corrosion and high strength/weight ratio. Normally, the welding for duplex stainless steels has been peformed using GTAW with Ar shielding gas. However, in case of using Ar as shielding gas, the corrosion resistance at root weld metal will be deteriorated due to loss of nitrogen from weld deposit during welding. It is wellknown that the corrosion resistance of super duplex stainless can be restored by addition of nitrogen as shielding gas. In this study, we made super duplex welding with using several kinds of shielding and purging gases and investigated the relationship between shielding gas and corrosion resistance. Consequently, it was shown that corrosion resistance of weld deposit can be restored by addition of $N_{2}$ as shielding gas.

  • In this study. investigated the effect of shot peening on the corrosion of SAE 5155 steel immersed in $3.5\%$ NaCl solution and corrosion characteristics by the heat treatment during shot peening process. The immersion test was Performed on the four kinds of specimens. Corrosion Potential, polarization curve, residual stress etc. were investigated from experimental results. From these test results, the effect of shot peening on the corrosion was evaluated The important results of the experimental study on the effects of shot peened SAE 5155 on the corrosion are as follows; Shot peened specimens show the low of corrosion current as compared with un peened specimens. In the case of corrosion potential, shot Peened specimen shows more negative Potential as compared with that of parent metal Surface of specimen, which is treated with shot peening Process. is Placed as more activated state against inner parent metal. Corrosion rate is shown that shot Peened specimens have less corrode than un peened specimens. But non heat treated shot peened specimens show the biggest weight loss owing to variable compressive residual stress layer by shot ball.

용접재료별 단강 피스톤 크라운 용접부위의 부식특성에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of the corrosion property on the welded zone of forged steel piston crown with types of filler metals)

  • 최근 수년 동안 유가의 현저한 상승으로 인하여 상선의 디젤 기관은 저질 중유를 주로 사용하게 되었다. 따라서 저질 중유의 사용 증가에 따른 디젤 기관의 연소실 배기가스 온도는 점차 상승하여 가혹한 부식 환경에 직면하게 되었다. 그 결과 연소실 주변의 모든 기관 부품들의 부식과 마모는 다른 기관 부품들에 비해서 심각하다. 그러므로 이들 부품들의 적절한 덧살 용접은 수명 연장을 위하여 경제적인 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 피스톤 크라운 재질로 통상 사용되는 단강에 4종류의 용접재료로 SMAW와 GTAW로 용접하였다. 실험은 모재, 열영향부 및 용접금속의 부식 특성을 35% 황산용액에서 부식전위, 양극분극 곡선, 사이클릭볼타모그램 및 임피던스 등의 전기화학적인 방법으로 하여 고찰하였다. Inconel 625, 718 용접재료의 경우 용접금속의 내식성이 가장 우수하였고, 모재의 내식성이 가장 좋지 않았으며, 반면에 1.25Cr-0.5Mo와 0.5Mo는 모재가 용접금속에 비해서 더 좋은 내식성을 나타내었다. 또한, 용접금속 중 Inconel 625가 가장 내식성이 우수하였으며, 그 다음으로 Inconel 718 용접재료로 나타났다. 경도 역시 용접금속이 상대적으로 모재, 열영향부에 비해서 높은 값을 나타내었다. 특히 Inconel 718 용접재료의 경우 다른 용접재료에 비하여 가장 높은 경도값을 나타내었다.

교류 피복아크 용접에 의한 해수 배관 용접부위의 부식 특성 평가 (Evaluation of the corrosion property on the welded zone of seawater pipe by A.C shielded metal arc welding)

  • 선박 기관실의 해수 배관은 염소이온 농도와 전기 전도성이 높은 해수가 빠른 속도로 유동하는 환경에 놓여 있게 된다. 따라서 부식성이 강한 염소 이온으로 인해 배관 내부에 국부 부식이 발생하여 해수가 누설되는 경우가 종종 발생하고 있다. 그래서 해수 배관의 누설 부위에 대해 일반적으로 선박 내에서 여러 가지 피복아크용접봉을 사용하여 교류 아크용접기로 보수용접을 한다. 본 연구에서는 해수파이프 등에 E4301, E4311, E4313 및 E4316과 같은 피복아크용접봉으로 용접한 경우, 용접부위에 대해 영역별로 내식성 차이를 전기화학적 방법으로 비교 분석하고, 각각의 용접부위에 대한 미세조직 관찰 및 미소 비커스 경도를 측정하였다. E4313의 용접봉을 사용한 용접부가 다른 용접봉을 사용한 용접부에 비해 가장 낮은 경도 값을 나타내었으나 내식성은 가장 우수하게 나타나고 있다. 그리고 용접봉의 종류에 관계없이 용접부는 모재보다 상대적으로 내식성이 더 우수하였고, 경도도 더 높은 값을 나타내었다.
