Remediated Aura Experience through Game+Art (게임+미술을 통한 재매개된 아우라 경험)

  • This paper discusses how the encounter between the performance characteristics of a game and the media characteristics of media art convey the acceptance and perceptual experience of the spectacle aura based on the media installation work, which is in turn based on the game. The game is a one-time event. During this event, the game will give a true aura experience. A media installation that records a game performance has a media character because it works through the medium, but the aura is transformed into the form of other media through the process of remediation, rather than being collapsed by the change of media. In other words, as well as in a one-time experience, such as a game, the aura can also be experienced in repetition and duplication in media installation works. In conclusion remediated aura experience is discussed through the media installation work based on the game.

  • Surface has been an important issue in contemporary architecture. That originates in structural freedom of surface since the end of modern architecture and the current stream of surface becoming an identity of building. Development of digital-media has brought a great change to our society in general. Digital-media is characterized by use of digital-information and interactive communication. Digital-media has been applied on surface in contemporary architecture lately. It is a purpose of the study to analyze the characteristics of digital-media application on surface based on the related characteristics of installation art. The categories and the contents for the frame of case analysis were arranged through document research. The foreign and domestic cases of digital-media application were analyzed based on the frame of analysis. Digital-media, which is installed on surface, is interacted with human and surroundings. It enhances emotional communication between human and architecture. Surface is not any more a simple fixture but an interactive creature. It makes surface more dynamically and fluidly that the course of light and human movement affect on digital-media. Surface itself is also turned into an object of art. It reflects the interweaving characteristics between contemporary architecture and installation art. It was analyzed through the study that emotional level of people is the important issue shared in digital-media application on surface and installation art. The complementary relationship between surface of contemporary architecture and installation art can be manipulated by the application of digital-media on surface.

  • In relation to spatial expression, the remediation theory of Jay David Bolter & Richard Grusin shows a sufficient possibility of providing extended idea and experience through the space of critical representation. The remediation theory discussed in the scope of new media says about the existence method and the development process of media through immersion into media and awakening, and one attribute of remediation which aims at the extension of another realistic experience and recognition through various media, contains common denominators which display diversity and complexity of installation space, and use the audience as expression elements. Therefore, this study aims to apply the remediation theory in order to interpret space using more diverse and multisensory expression methods. For achieving this purpose, this study found the connection among characteristics of hypermediacy which is an axis of installation and remediation theory, and analyzed diverse cases regarding installation space and characteristics of hypermediacy, depending on external aspects of form and expression and internal aspects of experience and cognition. The method of hypermediation expression in installation space converts the recognition about the basic custom of new experience, space and representation. This means that the logic of remediation could approach space by leading to more extended form and recognition. In conclusion, the characteristics of space and the possibility of extended expression revealed in the relationship between installation space and hypermediacy logic would provide another developmental significance for research on space design.

Mixed sense of the media installation work (미디어 인스톨레이션에서 나타나는 혼성적 감각에 대한 연구)

  • Since the middle of the 1960's, revitalization of the media art has showed a new paradigm shift as a alternative to existing art genre. According to advances in technology the form of art becomes various. Nowdays, art work which is mixed with media and other genre is popular because of hybrid culture. The image medium has flexibilty to incorporate with other genre because of medium character. The media installation that applied the image medium means to mixed work of sculpture and media. The sculpture and media has been broadened the field through the media installation. this study discuss art works projected image on sculpture among various media installation works. The materiality of the sculpture and the vision of the image mix up each other. It is associated with M. Merleau-Ponty's sens theory.

Quality Improvement in Centrifugal Barrel Finishing Machine (원심바렐연마기공에 있어서 품질향상 대책)

  • In centrifugal barrel finishing, it is easy to establish the optimum working conditions for different workpieces. As they are adjusted in trial and error practically, production efficiency and quality are some- times low In the present paper, firstly, installation of the barrel finishing machine, finishing purpose and working conditions have been analyzed in order to eliminate the defects of the finished surface. Secondly, on the basis of this result, quantity of the water and selection of the media and the compound, etc. have been investigated. As a result, production efficiency and quality have been improved under the specified optimum working conditions. In addition, durability of the media and the compound has been tested experimentally. As a result, it was found that the expected life of the media is about 85 hrs and that of the compound is about 5 hrs. Besides high quality control has been achieved by newly proposed inspection at regular intervals.

A Study on Evaluation Construct Model Extraction of Building Exterior Lighting applying Media Facade and Image Evaluation (미디어파사드를 적용한 건축외관조명의 평가구조 추출 및 이미지 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we derive an evaluation structure and 18 Valuation vocabulary for the media facade lighting conditions. In addition, this study deduced the applicable elements that could be applied in time of building nightscape lighting design using media facade by conducting affective evaluation. The research results are as follows: It was found that the image axis of "Dynamic, Colorful" showed the lighting change speed was fast with diverse application of lighting color, and its evaluation object applied by general emphasis, vertical emphasis, partial emphasis lighting method was highly assessed. In addition, it was found that "Luxurious, Unusual" axis showed lighting change speed was slow with the application of lighting color in warm hue series, and its evaluation object applied by line lighting, dot lighting, general emphasis lighting methods was highly assessed. Lastly, it was found that "Soft, Secure" image axis showed the lighting change speed was slow with the application of pastel tone lighting color, and the evaluation object applied by general emphasis lighting method was highly assessed.

A Study on the Characteristics of the Media Facade Buildings (미디어 파사드 건축물의 야간조명 특성분석)

  • Recently a number of media facade buildings making beautiful cityscape landmark has been increased in Seoul. However, indiscreet adaptation of media facade cause problems such as light pollution and poor city image. This paper was to investigate luminous characteristics of media facade building. Five representative media facade buildings in Seoul have been selected. The CS-100 and ProMetric-1400 were used to measure the luminance and color temperature of the facades. The measurement points were located at the opposite spot of the building. The results showed that maximum media facade luminance of such buildings exceed Seoul design guideline. Also, color temperature with over 5,500[K] that exceed the design guideline were mostly used in all the facades.

  • A reliable test of offshore plant hold a key post in offshore engineering technology. The offshore self-supporting of process module design and basic design technology needs engineering verification based on the reliable test. And also reliable verification test data is very important. Therefore, verification test system for offshore installation simulation is necessary. This paper explains design of data acquisition system and control system based on the parameter of measured and controlled variable which is for establishing offshore installation simulation system.

  • Screen-based games often go to many places to install. In this case, there may be a change in the sensor or a difficulty in installation due to a difference in space configuration. Also, it is meaningful to experience the same thing as a real game, but there are cases where it is necessary to control the degree of difficulty to make it feel more fun. In this paper In the process of developing a screen archery game, which is a sensible game similar to screen golf, we will introduce a technique that facilitates installation according to changes in space. And we will explain how to control game difficulty automatically according to user's skill. And we will show you the results of the experiment.
