The present study concerns uncertainty assessment of powering prediction from towing tank model tests, suggested by the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC). The systematic uncertainty of towing tank tests was estimated by allowance of test setup and measurement accuracy of ITTC. The random uncertainty was varied from 0 to 8% of the measurement. Randomly generated inputs of test conditions and measurement data sets under systematic and random uncertainty are used to statistically analyze resistance and propulsive performance parameters at the full scale. The error propagation through an extrapolation procedure is investigated in terms of the sensitivity and coefficient of determination. By the uncertainty assessment, it is found that the uncertainty of resultant powering prediction was smaller than the test uncertainty.
Measurement uncertainty analysis of fuel flow using turbine flowmeter was performed for the case of altitude engine test. SAE ARP4990 was used as the fuel flow calculation procedure, as well as the mathematical model for the measurement uncertainty assessment. The assessment was performed using Sensitivity Coefficient Method. 11 parameters involved in the calculation of the flow rate were considered. For the given equipment setup, the measurement uncertainty of fuel flow was assessed in the range of 1.19~1.86 % for high flow rate case, and 1.47~3.31 % for low flow rate case. Fluctuation in frequency signal from the flowmeter had the largest influence on the fuel flow measurement uncertainty for most cases. Fuel temperature measurement had the largest for the case of low temperature and low flow rate. Calibration of K-factor and the interpolation of the calibration data also had large influence, especially for the case of very low temperature. Reference temperature, at which the reference viscosity of the sample fuel was measured, had relatively small contribution, but it became larger when the operating fuel temperature was far from reference temperature. Measurement of reference density had small contribution on the flow rate uncertainty. Fuel pressure and atmospheric pressure measurement had virtually no contribution on the flow rate uncertainty.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the operator's safety for the risk assessment method of impulsive noise division. Literature reviews on the basis of the impulsive noise study, the measuring methods and procedures, based on the results of the analysis process presents a risk assessment methods. In this study, analysis of the MIL-STD-1474D, B-duration graph for the peak noise level to cross the line from the measurement results is limited by the risk retracted. It is possible to determine whether there is quick can be determined whether the risk. Measurement positions measured by the microphone is installed on the risk of applying results are so located within the tolerance impulsive noise in the measurement position can interpret subjective safety is ensured. In addition, Proportional Dose technology was the proposed by the Patterson with the risk assessment method was applied to the indoor-impulsive noise. As results of this study, results for the same value of applying the technique of Proportional Dose technology results calculated by MIL-STD-1474D methods allows 1 count once increased in comparison to the result obtained.

Indoor noise environment is an important factor when it comes to occupants comfort, especially in cafe. Results of the survey, 33.9% of occupants were feel unpleasant and sensitive about noise environment. Noise in cafe fluctuate depending on the finishing of both wall and ceiling, volume of the room, and the number of occupants in the room. Therefore, the noise meter device was used for measurement of various under conditions. Also, the subjective assessment of occupant noise was conducted through questionnaires. When the interior finish was exposed concrete, the maximum value of the noise measurement was 66.6 dB and the minimum value was 63 dB, respectively. Also, the result of subjective assessment of unpleasant noise were 5.43 and 4.96 point of 10 point of noise and echo, respectively. Otherwise, the interior finish was gypsum board, the maximum value of the noise measurement was 73.8 dB and the minimum value was 60.4 dB, respectively. Also, the result of subjective assessment of unpleasant noise were 3.88 and 3.95 point of 10 point of noise and echo, respectively. The results of the study showed that the noises and echoes in the cafes were lower than when did not.
A SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination) and CMM (Capability Maturity Model) assessment can be considered as representative software process assessment models since assessors assign ratings to indicators and metrics to measure the capability of software precesses. But ail of process assessment models don't provide a subjective measurement procedure and metrics. In this paper we define basic quality process metrics and propose standard metrics for each process based on SPICE and CMM. This study also proposed a guideline for a subjective measurement procedure and the metrics are effectively use to SPI.
Recent interests in total quality management (TQM) and business excellence (BE) had been fuelled with a range of national and regional awards. These awards are being increasingly used by organisations as part of the business improvement process and strategic benchmarking. This paper reviews the concepts and approaches of performance measurement (PM) and discusses the integration of PM with the TQM and BE philosophies. A TQM-BE-PM framework with a set of self-assessment checklists was developed. In order to complement the literature base with empirical evidence, an industry survey was conducted and a trial implementation of the framework was carried out in a leading manufacturing firm in Hong Kong. The self-assessment performance data of the fm was evaluated and then benchmarked with the industry averages obtained from the survey. This paper presents the empirical findings and discusses the applicability of the framework in measuring and benchmarking organisational performance toward continual improvement.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics, validity, and reliability of non-radiological assessment tools of scoliosis that have been studied so far. Methods: Electronic databases including Pubmed, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Science On, RISS, OASIS were searched by keywords including 'scoliosis assessment', 'scoliosis screening', 'physical examination', 'functional measurement', 'photography', and 'smartphone'. Results: 32 articles using radiation-free assessments were identified from 1,011 records. The mostly used non-radiological methods were Surface topography, Scoliometer, Ultrasound, Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging, and Photography. The other methods were Gait analysis, 3D depth sensor imaging, and Low intensity electromagnetic scan. Conclusions: It was found that non-radiological assessment tools might reduce the number of radiographs taken in scoliosis patients. To increase the reliability and validity, further research on the measurement tools of scoliosis will be needed.
Objectives:Assessment of sleep disturbance is an essential part of the diagnostic criteria used for several psychiatric disorders. Change in sleep patterns over time may indicate response to treatment. In clinical practice, sleep is usually evaluated subjectively by patient self-report. This study was aimed to compare subjective sleep assessment with objective sleep measurement by actigraphy in psychiatric inpatients. Methods:A total of 32 psychiatric inpatients were studied. Patients were asked to wear a wrist actigraphy for three consecutive days and nights and to fill out a sleep log each morning. The severity of depression and anxiety was evaluated according to Beck Depression Inventory and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory on the first day of the study. The subjective level of satisfaction with quality of sleep was also evaluated according to visual analog scale. Nurses assessed sleep at one hour interval between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM for three consecutive nights. Results:There was statistically significant difference of sleep latency between patient's sleep log and acti-graphic measurement. Nursing reports were more consistent with actigraphic measurement than sleep log. Interestingly, subjectively poor sleepers show no significant difference in sleep parameters compared with those of good sleepers. Subjectively poor sleepers report longer sleep latency than that of actigraphic assessment. The discrepancy between subjective and objective assessment of sleep latency was significantly correlated with scores of Beck Depression Inventory and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Conclusion:These results show that there are discrepancies between subjective and objective assessment of sleep. The discrepancy of sleep assessment could be influenced by severe depression and anxiety. Especially objective sleep measurement is needed to assess sleep in psychiatric inpatients with severe depression or anxiety and the subjectively poor sleepers for more reliable measurements.

This paper is related to structural assessment considering the hydroelastic response of ultra large container ships, especially from whipping (bow or stern impacts) and from springing (resonance). In general, whipping contributes both to increased fatigue and extreme loading, while springing does mainly contribute to increased fatigue loading. To evaluate the hydroelastic response quantitatively with high accuracy, numerical code considering hydro-structure coupling was applied and fatigue strength of a 13,100 TEU class containership was verified. The segmented model test and full scale measurement were also needed to assess the effect of whipping and springing on the fatigue and extreme capacity in more realistic way and for verification of the numerical tools. With reference to class rule, fatigue assessment considering springing effect and extreme assessment considering whipping effect were introduced.
