The Analysis of Flow Characteristics of Conductive Liquid Metal Using TLIM Electromagnetic Pump (TLIM 전자펌프를 이용한 전도성 용융금속의 유동특성 해석)

  • This paper presents the flow characteristics in the fluid circulation loop using the tubular type linear induction motor(TLIM) electromagnetic pump. A TLIM of thrust 40[N] is analyzed using the equivalent and genetic algorithm for the system The flow characteristics are analyzed by coupling the Maxwell equations with the Navier-Stokes equation with the thrust. The analysis algorithm is developed for analyzing the liquid metal flow in the system for laminar and turbulent flow. And the effect of thrust is analyzed for the flow characteristics.

  • Magnetoelectric(ME) bulk composites with PZT-PNN-PZN/$Fe_2O_4$ were prepared by using a conventional ceramic methods and investigated on the ME voltage vs frequency of ac magnetic fields. We made the electric equivalent circuits by using the Maxwell-Wagner model and simulated the frequency dependence of ME voltage in low frequency region. ME devices were described by a series of two equivalent circuits of piezoelectric and magnetic, which have the relaxation time ${\tau}$ due to the interaction between ME device and load resistor. Equivalent circuit of piezoelectric material is independent of frequency. However ferrite magnetic materials have Debye absorption and dipolar dispersion, whose equivalent circuit is a function of frequency. Therefore we suggest the resistance in the equivalent circuit is proportion to $1+{\omega}^2{\tau}^2$ and the capacitance is in inverse proportion to $1+{\omega}^2{\tau}^2$ in the magnetic materials.

  • In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The ring-shaped electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, maxwell 3D finite element analysis program (Ansoft) was used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. The electromagnetic emitting properties were presented by 3D simulation software operated at 250kHz and some specific conditions.

  • Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems promising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers. Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of mono layers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed a and the molecular area $A_m$. Compression speed a was about 30, 40, 50mm/min. also, LB layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers are 9 ~ 21 and we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V.

The I-V characteristics of the device are measured from -3 to +3[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.

Rheological Model Analysis of Acorn Starch Gels by Stress Relaxation Test (응력완화시험에 의한 도토리 전분겔의 물성론적 모형 분석)

  • Stress relaxation tests with different percent deformation were performed for crude and refined starch gels of acorn. With no relation to percent deformation, refined starch gel had higher initial stress ($\sigma_e$) and lower equilibrium stress ($\sigma_e$) than crude starch gel. But the ratio of equilibrium stress to initial stress ($\sigma_e$/$\sigma_o$) was minimum at 60 percent deformation. The analysis of relaxation curves by successive residual method revealed that the rheological behavior of acorn starch gels could be expressed by generalized Maxwell model. The element numbers of models for crude and refined starch gel were 7-element and 5-element at 60 percent deformation, and 5-element and 3-element at 45 percent deformation, respectively.

  • Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems premising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understand. Photoisomerization in monolayers of a novel azobenzene compound, azobenzene dendrimer, was investigated for the first time by means of the absorption spectrum and Maxwell displacement current (MDC) technique. Dendrimers are well-defined macromolecules exhibiting a tree-like structure, first derived by the cascade molecule approach. According to the absorption spectrum, trans-to-cis conversion ratio was estimated to the third generation of azobenzene dendrimer deposited onto a glass substrate. Temperature-dependent induced charge with trans-cis isomerization was also measured by means of MDC technique.

  • From the three element non-Newtonian model of one non-Newtonian viscoelastic Maxwell elements and a elastic spring, the stress relaxation equation was derived. The various model parameters of this equation were evaluated by appling the experimental results of stress relaxation to the stress relaxation equation. The theoretical curves calculated from this model parameters agreed with the experimental stress relaxation curves. From the parameters of nonlinear viscoelastic model, the hole volume, fine structure, viscoelastic properties and mechanical properties of polymer fibers were studied. The experiments of stress relaxation were carried out using the tensile tester with the solvent chamber. The stress relaxation curves of the two types polyacrylonitrile-polyvinylchloride copolymer and another two types PVC monofilament fibers were obtained in air and water of various temperatures.

  • Magnetic force calculation methods such as Maxwell stress, virtual work principle, equivalent magnetic charge, and equivalent magnetizing current are widely used until now. The force density is still controversial issue even though it is common sense that all of these methods have legitimate results. The surface force densities of each method are quite different with each other in the point of numerical result and final expression. In this paper, it is shown that a unified expression of body force density is derived using virtual air-gap scheme for an analytic model in which cylindrical magnetic material with a vertical current runs through its center.
