  • In this paper, we introduce the minimum and maximum distance setting methods used in geometric distance attenuation processing, which is one of spatial sound reproduction methods. In general, sound attenuation by distance is inversely proportional to distance, that is 1/r law, but when the relative distance between the user and the audio object is very short or long, exceptional processing might be performed by setting the minimum distance or the maximum distance. While MPEG-I Immersive Audio's RM0 uses fixed values for the minimum and maximum distances, this study proposes effective methods for setting the distances considering the signal gain of an audio object. Proposed methods were verified through simulation of the proposed methods and experiments using RM0 renderer.

  • The epicentral region of earthquakes is typically where liquefaction-related damage takes place. To determine the maximum distance, such as maximum epicentral distance (Re), maximum fault distance (Rf), or maximum hypocentral distance (Rh), at which an earthquake can inflict damage, given its magnitude, this study, using a recently updated global liquefaction database, multiple ML models are built to predict the limiting distances (Re, Rf, or Rh) required for an earthquake of a given magnitude to cause damage. Four machine learning models LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), BiLSTM (Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory), CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), and XGB (Extreme Gradient Boosting) are developed using the Python programming language. All four proposed ML models performed better than empirical models for limiting distance assessment. Among these models, the XGB model outperformed all the models. In order to determine how well the suggested models can predict limiting distances, a number of statistical parameters have been studied. To compare the accuracy of the proposed models, rank analysis, error matrix, and Taylor diagram have been developed. The ML models proposed in this paper are more robust than other current models and may be used to assess the minimal energy of a liquefaction disaster caused by an earthquake or to estimate the maximum distance of a liquefied site provided an earthquake in rapid disaster mapping.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the magnitude of mandibular rotational torque movements in subjects with TMJ sounds, and to analyse correlation between quantitative characteristics of TMJ sounds and mandibular rotational torque movement. Twenty dental college students with TMJ clicking and twenty students without any TMD signs and symptoms were examined by mean of SonoPak and Rotate program of BioPAK system(Bioresearch Inc. MilWaukee, wisconsin, USA) in this study. Mandibular rotational torque movements were recorded and analysed during maximum mouth opening, protrusion, and lateral excursion in frontal and horizontal planes. The obtained results were as follows: 1. On maximum mouth opening, mandibular rotational angle and distance of clicking group were significantly greater than those of control group in frontal plane. (P<0.05). 2. During maximum mouth opening closing, maximum mandibular rotational angle and distance of clicking group were significantly greater than those of control group in frontal plane. (P<0.01). 3. On protrusion, mandibular rotational angle and distance of clickin group were significantly greater than those of control group in horizontal plane. (P<0.05). 4. On lateral excursion, there was no significant difference in mandibular rotational angle and distance between clicking group and control group in frontal and horizontal planes. 5. There were significant correlations between peak amplitude of TMJ sounds and maximum mandibular rotational distance during maximum mouth opening (r=-.481) and mandibular rotational distance on maximum mouth opening (r=-.455) in horizontal plane. 6. There were significant correlations between Above 300/(0-300)Hz ratio of TMJ sounds and mandibular rotational angle (r=-.499) and distance (r=-.457) on maximum mouth opening in frontal plane.

  • In this paper, we analyze the electrical characteristics of PV depending on distance among solar cells before and after lamination process. From the result, the PV module's maximum power increases about 3.37% when solar cells's distance is 10mm. And the maximum power increases up to 8.42% when solar cells's maximum distance is 50mm. It is assumed that PV module's surface temperature decreases because of increasing distance between solar cells that would give high power generation. Also, short distance between solar cell and frame result in contamination on glass. When considering reduced maximum power caused by contaminant, from that. we can fabricated PV module of lower cost with high performance.

  • A model trains must have similitude with its original model not only in shape but also in motion. Motion characteristics of a model train under considerations are maximum velocity in straight and circular tracks and stopping distance. Equations of motions are derived to obtain maximum speed and stopping distance based on the Newton's Second Law and the energy principal. To accurately predict traction and resistance force between wheel and rail. wheel slip, or creepage, is taken into consideration. To verify the equations of motion, various experiments have been carried out including measurement of gear efficiency, location of mass center, rolling resistance force, traction force, slip, maximum velocity and stopping distance. This paper addresses how the experiments are setup and carried out in detail. Also the results of experiments are compared with the analytical prediction, which showed good agreements with each other.

  • This study represents three-dimensional turbulent flow characteristics around an axial fan measured at the operating point ${\varphi}=0.32$, which is equivalent to the maximum flowrate region, by using three-dimensional fiber-optic type LDA system. This LDA system is composed of a 5 W Argon-ion laser, two optics in back-scatter mode, three BSA's, a PC, and a three-dimensional automatic traversing system. A kind of paraffin fog is used for laser particles in this study. Mean velocity profiles around an axial fan along the downstream radial distance show that the streamwise and the tangential components exist as a predominant velocity and have the maximum value at the radial distance ratio 0.8, while the radial component has a small scale distribution and its flow direction is inward except a part of blade tip. The turbulent intensity profiles show that the radial component exists the most greatly. And also the turbulent kinetic energy shows about 60% as a maximum value at the radial distance ratio 0.9. Moreover, the Reynolds shear stresses do not exist at upstream flow, but the streamwise and the radial components of them show about 20% as a maximum value at the radial distance ratio 0.9 at downstream flow.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the transformation of the power following by the angle of incidence of the solar, the angle of photovoltaic module and artificial solar changed from 30° to 90° and synchronously changed the distance from 0.1 m to 0.5 m. Setting the distance between the artificial solar and the luminometer from 0.1 m to 0.5 m and set the angles to 90°, 60°, 45°, and 30°, the angle was 90° and when the distance was 0.1 m, the maximum Illuminance was 19,580 lux, the light could be obtained more. If the angle of incidence between the Artificial solar and the photovoltaic module was 90° and the variable resistance was 1,000 Ω at a distance of 0.4 m, the maximum power reached 0.82 W. Provided that the angle of incidence between the artificial solar and the photovoltaic module was 90° and the distance was 0.2 m since the variable resistance had the maximum power of 500 Ω, the maximum power was 0.78 W. At 1,000 Ω, the maximum power is 0.80 W so the maximum power at the variable resistance 1,000 Ω could obtain higher power than the variable resistance 500 Ω. The variable resistance was 1,000 Ω and the angle of incidence between the Artificial solar and the photovoltaic module was 90° at a distance of 0.4 m, and the maximum power reached 0.82 W. The angle was 60° at 0.3 m and 0.4 m the maximum power reached 0.10 W. The angle was 45° at 0.2 m maximum power reached 0.020 W, the angle was 30° at 0.4 m, and the maximum power reached 0.004 W. In four results about maximum power depending on the angle of incidence between the artificial solar and the photovoltaic module, the luminous efficiency and maximum power can be got the best at an angle of 90°.
