This study is observed in this paper that how the mathematical beliefs of elementary pre-service teachers are reflected in planning and implementing actual mathematics classes. The subjects for this study are senior students at the university of education. After examining their mathematical beliefs and analyzing their actual mathematics classes in a teaching practicum, the following conclusions are drawn. First, the mathematical beliefs of elementary pre-service teachers have generally shown in a similar tendency. The beliefs formed by the students' experience and the beliefs established in the course of preparing to become teachers have coexisted. Second, the teachers' belief in learning mathematics and the teaching practices are largely inconsistent. Third, when elementary pre-service teachers plan and implement their mathematic classes, they are influenced by their guidance teachers and students as well as their own mathematical beliefs.
This study investigates 628 high school students' math dislike tendencies by their math achievement levels. The findings show that, firstly, as the sample students' math achievement level decreases, the number of dislike factors increase. Secondly, students' math dislike factors are differentiated by their math achievement levels. Math high achievers show high math disliking tendency by teacher factor. Middle achievers show high math disliking tendency by complex application and relation factors. Low achievers show high math disliking tendency by comprehension factor. Finally the math disliking factors affecting the level of math achievement are influenced by schools and grades that students' attend. While math disliking factors such as comprehension factor, teacher factor, affection factor are generally present among sample schools, exceptionally JS high school students(high achieving students) are only affected by mentality factor. In addition, mentality factor affects the second grade students only. The implications of the study argue that students' math disliking tendencies could be systematically reduced by paying attention to such dependent variables students' achievement levels, grade, school characteristics, and independent variables including teacher, application, mentality, comprehension, and affection.
This study aims to improve the teaching and learning method on the conic sections. To do that the researcher analyzed the impact of dynamic geometry software on students' problem solving of the conic sections. Students often say, "I have solved this kind of problem and remember hearing the problem solving process of it before." But they often are not able to resolve the question. Previous studies suggest that one of the reasons can be students' tendency to approach the conic sections only using algebra or analytic geometry without the geometric principle. So the researcher conducted instructions based on the geometric and historico-genetic principle on the conic sections using dynamic geometry software. The instructions were intended to find out if the experimental, intuitional, mathematic problem solving is necessary for the deductive process of solving geometric problems. To achieve the purpose of this study, the researcher video taped the instruction process and converted it to digital using the computer. What students' had said and discussed with the teacher during the classes was checked and their behavior was analyzed. That analysis was based on Branford's perspective, which included three different stage of proof; experimental, intuitive, and mathematical. The researcher got the following conclusions from this study. Firstly, students preferred their own manipulation or reconstruction to deductive mathematical explanation or proving of the problem. And they showed tendency to consider it as the mathematical truth when the problem is dealt with by their own manipulation. Secondly, the manipulation environment of dynamic geometry software help students correct their mathematical misconception, which result from their cognitive obstacles, and get correct ones. Thirdly, by using dynamic geometry software the teacher could help reduce the 'zone of proximal development' of Vigotsky.
Algebra is important part of mathematics education. Recent days, many mathematics educators emphasize on real world situation. Form real situation, pupils make sense of concepts, and mathematize it by reflective thinking. After that they formalize the concepts in abstract. For example, operation in numbers develops these course. Operation in natural number is an arithmetic, but operation on real number is algebra. Transition from arithmetic to algebra has the cutting point in representing the concepts to mathematics sign system. In this note, we see the cognitive tendency of 10th grade about operation of real number, their cutting point of transition from arithmetic to algebra, and show some methods of helping pupils.
The former study results demonstrate that differences between people of creativity and non-creativity lie in differences of the self-efficacies rather than those of cognitive aspects and a man of higher self-efficacy has a tendency to set up a higher goal of achievement and higher self-efficacy influences his or her achievement results as well (Zimmerman & Bandura 1994). Using the method of mathematical creative responses of open-ended approach (Lee, Hwang & Seo 2003), difference of mathematical self-efficacies has been surveyed in the study. Results of the survey showed that some students of a high mathematical self-efficacy even had bad marks in the originality or creativity but, in some cases, some students of a low mathematical self-efficacy rather had good marks in the fluency. Therefore, the response results mathematical creativity ability may be a special ability and not just a combination of self-efficacy ability. The fluency of the mathematical creative ability may be a combination of mathematical motivation ability that have been surveyed in the study suggest that not only cognitive components but also social and emotional components should be included in a development process of new creative method for teaching and learning mathematics.
This study was to investigate the types of errors and the frequency of errors to understand students' solving process on the descriptive items with the students of an excellent high school which located in a non-leveling local school district of Gyunggi Province. All 11 items were developed in the equation of a circle and 120 students who attended this high school participated in solving them. The result showed a tendency as follows: Logically invalid inference(Type A, 38.83%) of errors, Omission error of the problem solving process(Type B, 25%), Technical error(Type C, 15.67%), Wrong conclusion(Type D, 11.94%), Use of wrong theorem(Type E, 5.97%), and Use of wrong picture(Type F, 2.61%). The logically invalid inference the students showed with a largest tendency was made because of the lack of reflection. This meant that this error could be corrected in a little treatment of carefulness.

Relative to the outer surface of the mastic coating, the reliability of the available waterproofing resource is determined by the ability to stabilize the structural characteristics in difficult climatic conditions. Organic components of mastic as a result of solar radiation, elevated temperatures and their alternating change, atmospheric oxidants, especially in industrial areas, have a tendency to self-polymerization and loss of low molecular weight components. This is the gradual loss of deformability and the transition to brittleness with its tendency to crack as the reasons for the gradual transition from normal to emergency operating condition. The presented mechanism of functioning of the coating surface indicates the expediency of increasing its components, able to stabilize the structure and prevent changes in deformability.Durability, hydrophobicity, water displacement, water absorption are accepted as estimating indicators. The main dependences of the influence of the lost additional components of mastic on the operational properties of the formed coating characterize the ability to provide successful resistance to environmental influences and longer stability. As a result, mastic acquires additional service life.
In this paper, we classify the mathematical terms in Korean Standard Unabridged Dictionary into four groups; ① group 1 consists of the terms which coincide with the mathematical terms in the 2015 Editing Material, ② group 2 consists of the terms which are synonyms or old terms or inflection forms of the mathematical terms in the Editing Material, ③ group 3 consists of the terms which do not belong to group 1 or group 2, but relate to the elementary or secondary school mathematics, ④ group 4 consists of the terms which do not relate to the elementary or secondary school mathematics. And then we make a comparative study with the mathematical terms in the Editing Material. In this study, we find out the mathematical terms in the Editing Material, but not in Korean Standard Unabridged Dictionary. And by using synonyms and old terms of the mathematical terms in the Editing Material we guess the rough tendency which terms belong to the Editing Material. By investigating the terms in group 3 and 4, we find out the mathematical terms which may belong to the Editing Material. We also find out the wrong or inconsistent explanations in Korean Standard Unabridged Dictionary.
This study examined types of errors made by young children on the Mathematical Ability Picture Test for Young Children(Hwang & Choi, 2007). The subjects were 30 5-year-old children. The process of taking the Mathematical Ability Picture Test was videotaped and the videotape was transcribed for analysis of errors. Findings were that in most of the sub-areas, strategy selection errors were dominant, followed by comprehension errors. Second, there was a tendency for boys and girls to make similar types of errors in every sub-area of the Mathematical Ability Picture Test for Young Children.
Producing tools for actively meeting social needs in a radical changing society due to the development of modern technology has been shifted from physical ability to intelligent ability. The prominence of educating creativity is perceived as a good preparation in order to deal with them. Considered that assessment which is systematic activity to collect, analyze, diagnose, and judge information of a series of instruction practices is means to impart evidence and feedback of teaching learning practices, education and assessment is placed on reciprocal relationship. Nevertheless, there has been some tendency of neglect of assessment, comparing education for upbringing creativity. In this paper model of pencil and paper problem is discussed focusing on the sub-components of creativity and problem solving as one of the variety of means to extend mathematical creativity.
