압력에 안정한 3분할 FFS 모드의 화소 설계에 관한 연구 (Study on the Pixel Design for the Prerrue-stable Fringe-field Switching (FFS) Mode with 3 Slit Structure)

  • We studied the external pressure-stable advanced frnge field switching (FFS) pixel design with 3 slit sructue. In this mode, a patterned pixel slit is partitioned into 3 areas, namely, two edges and a center, where the edge slit angle is larger than the center slit angle. Thus the reverse twist region in the pixel edge is reduced comparing to the conventional FFS mode so that the LC dynamics in this region becomes very stable. And also, when the external pressure is applied to the panel at the high voltage, the disclination lines (DLs) were barely intruded into active area. Therefore, the structure is use for the pen based system such as the tablet personal computer (PC), personal digital asistant (PDA).

Adaptive Fuzzy Controller for the Nonlinear System with Unknown Sign of the Input Gain

  • We propose and analyze a robust adaptive fuzzy controller for nonlinear systems without a priori knowledge of the sign of the input gain function. No assumptions are made about the type of nonlinearities of the system, except that such nonlinearities are smooth. The uncertain nonlinearities are captured by the fuzzy systems that have been proven to be universal approximators. The proposed control scheme completely overcomes the singularity problem that occurs in the indirect adaptive feedback linearizing control. Projection in the estimated parameters and switching in the control input are both not required. The stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed in the Lyapunov viewpoint.

로봇발전과 기구학의 역할 (The Role of Kinematics in Robot Development)

  • This is the survey paper on the role of kinematics in robot development. The robot is considered as a form of mechanical systems which includes closed-chain loop system, open-chain loop system and closed and open switching system. To analyze these systems, kinematic notations has been developed in kinematics of mechanical theory since 1955 and has been applied in robotics. Several kinematic notations including Denavit-Hartenberg notations have been reviewed. The status of development of the spherical motor which has a great impact on the future robot advancement has reviewed, and research activity on a spherical motor and its application to 3-D spatial mechanisms at UNIST is introduced. For the open and closed switching mechanical systems, the bipedal robots' walking theories using Zero Moment Point are reviewed. And current status regarding bipedal robots based on newly developed passive dynamic walking theory is reviewed with the research activity at UNIST on this subject.

  • Throughout manufacturing processes, pulse shaping is required for material processing and it is regarded as an important (actor according to the specific characteristics of materials. Therefore, this study suggests a highly appropriate pulse shaping technique using a multi-switching method. This is a pulse superposition method in which one flash lamp can consecutively turn on by the double switching of the discharging system. It is possible to construct a variety of pulse shapes and pulse widths by the consecutive trigger of the silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) of a PIC (program integrated circuit) one-chip microprocessor. The use of this technique can provide a number of advantages to people who require suitable pulse shaping for particular applications such as welding, cutting, and drilling.

  • In manufacturing processes, various and suitable pulse shapes are required for the purpose of material processing. In order to make various pulse shapes with variable pulse length and high duty cycle, We have fabricated the power supply consisting 6 SCRs and the Pulse Forming Network(PFN) with the precise delay time control. So our control system has three switching circuits, 3 mesh PFN, and simmer circuit. In addition, we have designed and fabricated the PIC one-chip microprocessor(16F877) to control the delay time of sequential switching.

  • Nowadays, CO2 lasers are used widely in many applications such as materials fabrication. communications, remote sensing and military purpose etc. It is important to control the laser output power in those fields. In this paper, current resonant half-bridge inverter and Cockcraft-Walton circuit are used to vary the laser output power. This laser power supply is designed and fabricated which has less switching losses and compact size. Also we used an IGBT(insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) as a switching device of a power supply and PIC one-chip microprocessor are used to control the gate signal of the IGBT precisely. We investigated the output characteristics of this CO2 laser. As a result. the maximum laser output power of 26 [W] is obtained at the resonant frequency of about 13 [kHz].

  • Traction motors driven by high speed switching inverters is demanded higher operating temperature, severe duty cycles, higher starting current, frequent voltage transients and finally severe environmental exposure. For applications to inverter duty, traction motors needs a special insulation system, which has characteristics of increased bond strength, lower operating temperature and higher turn-to-turn insulation. In this paper, design considerations and manufacturing procedure of 200 Class insulation system with polyimde(Kapton) main insulation and silicone resin VPI process on the traction motor for EMU will be reviewed. And performance test and long life evaluation test which prove stability and long life evaluation test which prove stability and reliability of insulation system for traction motor will be introduced.

  • This paper presents a current-source-inverter based on a buck-boost configuration and its application for residential photovoltaic system. The proposed circuit has five switches. Among them, only one switch acts as chopping, and the other determine the polarity of output; therefore, it can reduce the switching loss. Because the input inductor current is operated on the discontinuous conduction mode, high power factor can be achieved without additional input current controller. So the overall system shows a simple structure. The operational modes are analysed in depth, and then it was verified through the experimental results using a 150 W prototype.

  • A strategy that can maximize the efficiency of the inverter system for the non-magnetic material is proposed. Frequency control and variable DC-Link voltage control are compared and analyzed by the experimental results. The experimental results show the variable DC-Link voltage control is superior to the frequency control with respect to improve the efficiency of the inverter system. MOSFETs and IGBTs are used as switching devices and IGBTs are considerable as better switching devices for improving the efficiency of the inverter system.

  • This Impulse Voltage and Current Test System is designed for performing of impulse voltage tests with Lightning impulse voltage 1.2/50(LI) up to 1520kV peak value and switching impulse voltages 250/2500(SI) up to 1120kV peak valu acc. to IEC 60060-1, and furthermore for impulse current test, e.g. testing of arrester sections($U_{res}$=95kV)with current impulses 4/10 and 8/20 up to 70kA peak value.
