  • A new particle tracking algorithm using the concept of match probability between two consequent image frames has been developed to obtain an instantaneous 2-dimensional velocity field. A computer simulation has been carried out to check the performance and usefulness of the developed algorithm by comparing with the conventional 4-frame Particle Tracking Velocimetry(PTV) method. As a result the newly developed algorithm shows very good performance. Although the major part of the developed algorithm is time-consuming iterative updating routine of match probability, computational elapse time to get the resonable results is a very short compared with the 4-frame PTv.Additionally, the present 2-frame PTV algorithm recovers more velocity vectors and has higher dynamic range and lower error ratio compared with the conventional 4-frame PTV.

  • We develop a stochastic model to predict the score of a soccer match. We describe the scoring process of the soccer match as a markovian arrival process (MAP). To do this, we define a two-state underlying Markov chain, in which the two states represent the offense and defense states of the two teams to play. Then, we derive the probability vector generating function of the final scores. Numerically inverting this generating function, we obtain the desired probability distribution of the scores. Sample numerical examples are given at the end to demonstrate how to utilize this result to predict the final score of the match.

  • This study was conducted to establish an individual identification system in Hanwoo cattle. Samples of 33 Hanwoo individuals from Korean elite sire families were used. Thirteen major microsatellite markers were selected from alleles amplified, their frequencies, H(Heterozygosity) and PIC(Polymorphism Information Content) with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Next, in order to evaluate the power of the markers selected on the individual animal identification, MP(Match probability) and R(Relatedness coefficient) with the percentage of animal incorrectly identified were computed. Finally nine microsatellite markers were selected and discussed.

  • This paper proposes a automatic generation method of Match-3 game levels through genetic algorithm. It takes a lot of time and effort if persons have to control the level in the game. In this paper, the genetic algorithm is applied to create an appropriate block combination. We create block combination from integer DNA. Fitness is high if success probability played by computer is closer to given probability. Experiments have shown that computer-determined levels of difficulty have a significant impact on the results of game played persons.

  • Football match predictions are of great interest to fans and sports press. In the last few years it has been the focus of several studies. In this paper, we propose the Poisson regression model in order to football match outcomes. We applied the proposed methodology to two national competitions: the 2012-2013 English Premier League and the 2015 Brazilian Football League. The number of goals scored by each team in a match is assumed to follow Poisson distribution, whose average reflects the strength of the attack, defense and the home team advantage. Inferences about all unknown quantities involved are made using a Bayesian approach. We calculate the probabilities of win, draw and loss for each match using a simulation procedure. Besides, also using simulation, the probability of a team qualifying for continental tournaments, being crowned champion or relegated to the second division is obtained.

  • The effectiveness of genetic markers on Hanwoo traceability systems was applied and evaluated from Korean 33 Hanwoo elite sire families. Five microsatellite markers were selected finally, which were located on chromosomes different chromosomes with the end sequencing of 100 HW-YUBAC that were recorded in the NCBI by Yeungnam University. Eleven major microsatellite markers were selected from allele amplified, their frequencies, H(Heterozygosity) and PIC(Polymorphism information content) with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Next, in order to evaluate the power of the markers selected on the individual animal identification with experimental condition, the match probability(MP) and the relatedness coefficient(R) were computed.

  • This paper provides a general and compact expression for the probability density function (pdf) and the moment-generating function (MGF) of the maximal ratio combiner output over Rayleigh fading channels. It is then used to derive closed form expression outage probability for repetition code problem. A variety of simulations is performed and shows that they match exactly with analytic ones.

  • The performance of 2-frame PTV(particle tracking velocimetry) system was improved using an adaptive hybrid scheme. The original 2-frame PTV method based on the match probability concept employs global match parameters for the entire flow field. Since this does not reflect fully the detailed local velocity change, it sometimes reduces the recovery rate of velocity vectors and increases the number of erroneous vectors in the region where an extraordinary flow structure exists. In this study, the preliminary FFT-based PIV results are used as an input parameter to determine the local match parameters needed for the 2-frame particle tracking algorithm. A computer simulation using synthetic particle images was carried out to study the performance of the adaptive 2-frame PTV technique. The adaptive hybrid method shows the better performance with increasing the velocity vector recovery rate and decreasing the computation time, compared to the original 2-frame PTV method.
