사업장 건강증진 프로그램에 대한 근로자의 건강신념 및 관련요인 (Workers' Health Belief in Health Promotion Programs and Related Factors)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationships between worker's health belief in health promotion programs and their demographic, health, and health behavior characteristics. Methods: This study used survey data from 262 small- and large-scale workplaces. The study included 1149 male and female workers who completed the questionnaires. Results: The health belief score increased significantly with age and length of service. Male, married, shift-work, and white-collar workers showed a significantly higher health belief score than female, single, non-shift-work, and blue-collar ones. Workers with disease history, hypertension, or obesity had a significantly higher health belief score. Regular exercise was significantly correlated with the health belief score. When all the variables were included in the model, the health belief score was significantly higher in workers who were married, had a longer length of service, worked in the sales department, were diagnosed with hypertension, exercised regularly, and felt fatigue. Conclusion: The results showed that workplace intervention programs meet more the needs of workers who have a higher health belief score. In addition, given that healthier life style was related to a higher health belief score, further research is required to find how to change health behavior in workers.

기업내부노동시장의 승진과 임금: 성별 차이를 중심으로 (Promotion and Wage in the Internal Labour Market : Sexual Differences)

  • 본 고에서는 한국노동패널자료를 이용하여 승진가능성 및 승진경험에 있어 남녀의 성별격차를 실증적으로 분석하고 승진가능성 및 승진경험이 성별 임금격차에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있다. 먼저 근로자의 특성과 승진경험과의 관계를 파악하기 위해 logit모형을 추정하고 의태분석을 실시하였다. 다른 설명변수를 통제하였을 때. 근로자가 현 직장에서 승진하였을 확률은 남성이 여성의 2배에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 분석대상을 승진가능성이 있거나 승진경험이 있는 임금근로자로 제한하면 성별 격차가 크게 완화되어 남성의 57.1%와 여성의 44.4%가 승진경험이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 여성 임금근로자의 70% 정도가 승진가능성이 없는 직종에 취업하고 있다는 사실을 반영하고 있으며, 승진가능 직종의 여성 취업확대가 중요하다는 점을 나타낸다. 또한 근속기간의 증가에 따라 남녀 모두 승진경험의 확률이 높아진다는 결과는 여성의 승진을 위해 경력단절 완화가 중요함을 시사한다. Oaxaca and Ransom의 방법론을 사용하여 성별 임금격차를 분해한 결과 인적자원, 거주지역 등의 설명변수가 임금격차의 62 9%를 설명하고 있었다 그러나 설명변수에 승진가능성 및 승진경험을 포함시켰을 경우에는 설명변수가 남녀 임금격차의 69.5%를 설명하였다. 승진가능성 및 승진경험이 성별 임금격차의 13.9%를 설명하여 임금에 미치는 승진의 중요성이 확인되었고. 여성의 경우 승진가능성 및 승진경험의 임금영향력이 상대적으로 높게 추정되었다.

Association between long working hours and liver enzymes: evidence from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007-2017

  • Background: Long working hours causes several health risks, but little is known about its effects on the liver. This study aimed to examine the correlation between working hours and abnormal liver enzyme levels. Methods: We used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey IV-VII. For the final 15,316 study participant, the information on working hours was obtained through questionnaires, and liver enzyme levels, consisting of serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), through blood tests. The relationship between weekly working hours and abnormal levels of liver enzymes was analyzed using multiple logistic regression, and a trend test was also conducted. Results: In male, working ≥ 61 hours per week was significantly associated with elevated AST and ALT levels compared with working 35-52 hours per week. Even after adjusting for covariates, the odds ratios (ORs) of abnormal AST and ALT increased by 1.51 (95% confidence interval: 1.20-2.05) and 1.25 (1.03-1.52), respectively, and a dose-response relationship was observed. This association was more prominent among the high-risk group, such as those aged > 40 years, obese individuals, worker on non-standard work schedule, pink-collar workers, or temporary worker. No correlation was observed in female. Conclusions: Long working hours are associated with abnormal liver function test results in male. Strict adherence to statutory working hours is necessary to protect workers' liver health.

고혈압 남성 근로자의 건강증진 생활양식의 영향요인 (The Factors Affecting the Health Promoting Life Style in Hypertensive Male Workers)

  • Purpose: In Korea, as the number of hypertensive worker grows, identifying the level of health promoting life style practice and related factors in hypertensive workers is becoming more and more important. Method: The subjects of this study were 195 hypertensive male workers in Korea. The data was collected during 3 months ranging from August 2003 to October 2003. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics. t-test, ANOVA. Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression by SAS 8.1 program. Results: It was found that there were significant differences between age, religion, medication, perceived health status, perceived benefits, internal health locus of control, powerful other health locus of control and health promoting life style practice. The most significant factor affecting the health promoting life style practice was internal health locus of control. The combination of internal health locus of control, specific self-efficacy, powerful other health locus of control, general self-efficacy accounted for 51.0% of the health promoting life style practice. Conclusion: The level of health promoting life style practice was very low, so it is urgent to manage and care for hypertensive male workers continuously and systemically with occupational health nurses. Based on the above results, cognitive perceptual characteristics should be considered when developing health education programs for hypertensive workers.

소음 노출 남성근로자에서 청력 역치의 비대칭성과 관련요인 (Asymmetrical Hearing Loss and Related Factors Among the Noise Exposed Male Workers)

  • This study was performed to examine the asymmetry of hearing loss among the noise exposed male workers. Findings of otoscopic examination, pure tone audiometry and tympanometry were evaluated for 179 male workers working in the noise exposed workplace. And also selfadministered structured questionnaires were used for each worker's work-related and general characteristics including personal health behaviors. There were significant differences of hearing threshold between right and left ears at 1,000 Hz and 3,000 Hz(p<0.05). And also significant differences of hearing threshold were noted in the age group over 50 at 3,000 Hz, the high risk drinking group either at 3,000 Hz and 4,000 Hz, the work duration group 10-19 years at 3,000 Hz, the noise exposure group under 90 dB(A) at 3,000 Hz, the noise exposure group over 90 dB(A) at 1,000 Hz, the non-wearing protective device group at 4,000 Hz, and the wearing protective device group at 3,000 Hz(p<0.05). Further study is needed to explore the extent and the related factors of the asymmetry of hearing loss in the general population and occupationally noise exposed group.

사무직 남성의 의복쇼핑성향과 드레스셔츠 구매실태 (Clothing Shopping Orientations and Purchasing Practices for Dress Shirts of Male Office Workers)

  • This study was intended to analyze the clothing shopping orientations and purchasing practices for men's dress shirts. It was conducted by means of convenience sampling survey with male office workers who usually wear dress shirts at work and who also live in Seoul, Geonggi, and Chungcheong area. The data collected were analyzed by frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, factor analysis, t-test, and ANOVA using SPSS. The results are as follows: 1) Clothing shopping orientations were classified into six factors: brand oriented; planned; enjoying; expediency oriented; negative shopping; and low price oriented. There were partially significant differences in clothing shopping orientations according to the surveyees' age. 2) The surveyees prioritized low price and expediency in clothing shopping, but they also showed low interest in brands. 3) The criteria for purchasing were in the order of size, color, comfort, and design. There were also partially significant differences in the estimation criteria for dress shirts according to marital status and age. 4) Most respondents tended to purchase 3 or 4 pieces of dress shirts a year, paying 30,000 to 50,000 won for a piece, usually at department stores. 5) When they purchase a dress shirt, they always considers its size. In the case of married men, however, it is the laundry tag that they do care about.

가사노동 참여에 관한 한국 대기업 남성들의 경험과 인식: S재벌 직장인을 중심으로 (The Experiences and Cognition on the Participation in Domestic Chores in Korean Male Workers of a Conglomerate Company)

  • The article's purpose is to depict the experiences and cognition of Korean male workers on the relationship between work and family, in a conglomerate company. It examines the data of 11 interviews, especially focusing on the issue of participation in family lives. The cases consist of new comer employees, managerial officers, and executive personnel. According to the interviewee's report, Korean companies have drastically changed from a so called collectivistic culture to an individualisic one. In addition, the styles of their stories have changed drastically. New comers and managerial officers accentuate the importance of family in contrast to the attitudes of executive staff. These individuals also discuss the trend of increasing participation in domestic chores. However, the study does not illustrate a change in the younger generations' inner identities in relation to familial responsibility. Many of the interviewees' opinions taken from the study are almost similar in that these individuals do not encompass the lives of family in future plans. In conclusion, workers from large companiesin Korea maintain the attitude of focusing on official life one-sidedly.

철강회사 남성 근로자의 직무스트레스, 우울, 건강관련 행위, A형 성격과의 관련성 (A Study on the Correlation among Occupational Stress, Depression, Health-Related Behavior and Type A Behavior Patterns of Male Workers at a Steel Factory)

  • Purpose: This study investigates the relationship between job stress, depression, health-related behavior and type A behavior patterns among male workers at a steel factory. Methods: The study was done on 171 male workers, using the structured questionnaire. The data were collected in April, 2009 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The results showed that 65.5% of workers were under moderate stress, 25.7% high stress and 0.6% extremely high stress. The overall score of these workers' occupational stress was 41.9, lower than the Korean workers' average. Occupational stress was correlated with depression, type A behavior patterns, a very poor physical condition without sufficient sleep. Conclusion: Stress management program is strongly needed for these subjects working over 45 hours a week, with a very poor subjective physical condition, insufficient sleep, type A behavior patterns and signs of severe depression. Further longitudinal study is recommended to show the effect of such worker's stress management program to mitigate job-related stress.

소규모 제조업 남성 근로자의 직무스트레스와 흡연행동과의 관련성 (Relationship between Job Stress and Smoking Behaviors among Small Scale Manufacturing Male Workers)

  • 본 연구는 소규모 제조업 사업장 남성 근로자들의 직무스트레스와 흡연과의 관련성을 검토할 목적으로 50인 미만의 소규모 제조업 사업장 24개소에 근무하고 있는 남성 근로자 856명을 대상으로 무기명 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 조사대상 제조업 남성 근로자의 흡연율은 35.2%이었다. 직무스트레스의 하위영역과 흡연과의 관련성을 검토하기 위한 다변량 로지스틱회귀분석 결과, 직무스트레스 요인 총점과 하위영역(물리적 환경, 직무요구, 조직체계, 보상부적절 및 직장문화)에서의 스트레스요인 점수가 정상군에 비해 고위험 스트레스군에서 현재 흡연군에 속할 위험비가 유의하게 증가하였다. 이 같은 결과는 소규모 제조업 남성 근로자에서의 직무스트레스가 정상인 군보다 고위험스트레스군에서 흡연과의 관련성이 더 높음을 시사하고 있다.

대구지역 중년 남성의 영양섭취 상태와 생활습관 및 혈청지질에 관한 연구 (Studies of Nutrient Intake, Life Style, and Serum Lipids Level in Middle-aged Men in Taegu)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among nutrient intake, life style, and serum lipids level in 108 healthy middle-aged men in Taegu. A convenient method was to assess nutritional intake. Anthropometric measuement of body weight and hight were measured and average energy expenditure was calculated. The mean body mass index(BMI) was 22.8$\pm$2.4 and it was in the middle of the mean BMI of Korean men. Obesity rate of study subject were 13.2%. Daily energy intake was not sufficient as 88.4% of recommended dietary allowances and the energy percentage of carboydrate, fat protein was 65 : 21 : 14. Mean intake of vitamin A, B1, C and Ca were lower than RDA. There was a highly significant negative correlation between the systolic blood pressure and calcium intake(r=-0.28, p<0.05). Smokers showed significantly higher blood glucose than non-smokers. Skipping meals and uneven diurnal distribution(no breakfast and large evening meals) are associated with high triglyceride level in this population. There was a highly significant correlation between body weight and plasma lipids. Energy expenditure was negatively correlated with plasma triglyceride level. Especially, atherogenic index was significantly lower in job-time physically active worker than that in sedentary worker. Above data provides valuable imformation to the community for program planning as well as to health providers who work individual male adults to meet their nutrition needs and to control blood lipids.
