  • The primary role of MRP(Material Requirement Planning) is to make a production plan so that we have an exact quantity of right materials on needed time at right place. But the ignorance on capacity constraints makes some problems whenever production schedule is established. To increase the performance of MRP system, a novel approach which is based on new input data structure is suggested. The new input data structure includes all the information about Material BOM, Routing and resource data so that we can easily examine the usage of resources and generate higher performance production plans.

  • Up to date cosmetic OEM/ODM (original equipment manufacturing/original development manufacturing) industry receives attention as a future growth engine due to steady growth. However, because of limited research and development capability, many companies have employed commercial management platforms specialized for large-sized companies; thus, overall system effectiveness and efficiency is low. Especially, MRP (material requirement planning) system introduced originally in 1970s is employed to calculate the requirement of the parts. However, dynamic nature of production lead time usually results in incorrect requirements. In addition, its algorithm does not consider the capability of the production resources. Also, because the commercial MRP system calculates all subcomponent for fixed period, the more goods have subcomponent, the slower calculation is. Therefore, conventional MRP system cannot respond complicated situation in time. In this study, we will suggest a new method that can respond to complicated situations resulting from short lead time and urgent production order in Korean cosmetic market. In particular, a distributed MRP system is proposed, that consists of multi-functional and operational modules, based on the characteristic of the BOM (bill of material). The distributed MRP system divides components (i.e. products and parts) into several fields and decrease the problem size; thus, we can respond to dynamically changed data any time. Through this solution, we can order components quickly, adjust schedules and planned quantity, and manage stocks reasonably. In addition, a prototype of the distributed MRP system is presented in this paper, in which ERP (enterprise resource planning) sever data is associated with an excel spreadsheet via MSsql. System user interface is implemented by a VBA (visual basic for applications) tool. According to a case study, response rate for delivery and planning achievement rate were enhanced about 20%, and inventory turnover was also decreased. Consequently, the proposed system improves overall profit.

  • Earned Value Management System(EVMS) is a management technique that is emerging as a valuable tool in the management of all projects, including and in particular construction projects. It is based on C/SCSC that has been released by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) in 1967. In a project that employs the earned value management concept, the project's measurable performance plans will be formed with the creation of CAPs. The formation of CAPs is a planning step necessary to form an earned value baseline. In this paper, a method is proposed to form CAPs using Material Requirement Planning(MRP) that is also known as a useful planning tool in the manufacturing industry. An application to a real project has been carried through workpackaging model.

  • Earned Value Management System(EVMS) has been considered as a useful tool of managing construction projects lately and its instruction into a private industry is now under consideration by the Korean government. It is on the basis of C/SCSC that had been released by the U.S. Department of Defense(DOD) since 1967. Its research has been in the active progress in order to utilize the earned value concept as a project management tool for construction project ordered by both government and private sector. Material Requirement Planning(MRP) is also known as a tool of planning and scheduling resources for assembly product as a part of inventory control models in the manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is the effective employment of Earned Value Management to manage the construction projects by utilizing Material Requirement Planning(MRP), based on project management software and Workpackaging model.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to develop a micro-computer application for GT/MRP (group technology/material requirement planning) integrated system for efficient management of production scheduling. GT and MRP system have been found to have several drawbacks in practice. By GT and MRP system, however, it should be able to construct a GT/MRP integrated system that possesses the advantages of both concepts while alleviating their individual limitations.

  • Modern production control systems based on MRPⅡ (Manufacturing Resource planning) didn't solved about the capacity and lead time problems. In the past, It solved that problems under deterministic. Therefore, the problem about determination of correct lead time and finite capacity are studied continuously by researchers. Now, we need to a integrated method that is from low level to high level instead of top-down in MRP. In this research uses the MRP-C(Capacitated Material Requirement Planning) concept that is more efficient then MRP system for capacity and flexible lead time , and shows the MRP-C algorithm and the prototype.

  • This paper develops MRP system with two-types of lead time(average lead time and emergent lead time). In this proposed MRP system, Material Requirement Planning is scheduled by using average lead time, but the emergent lead time is used only when start date of planned order is past. Btrieve data management technique and Stack structure are used for recalculating procedure of planned order with the TURBO PASCAL Version 5.5. An example is also considered.

  • Material Requirement Planning(MRP) has been the most widely implemented large scale production management system in the manufacturing industry. Computerization of MRP systems involves, in general, Bill Of Material(BOM) explosion algolithms which usually takes heavy computation time. In order to improve the effectiveness of the MRP systems, we propose to build a logical BOM database in advance, which reflects the Join operations for the BOM explosion. It reduces the response time for the BOM indented explosion. It reduces the MRP processing time. It also increased main memory utilization.

  • Ptak & Smith published ORLICKY'S Material Requirement Planning Third Edition in 2011 to correspond the rapidly changed market demand by improving the original MRP based on Theory of Constraints(TOC) replenishment inventory management. This study is to develop the simulation model to decide the proper target inventory level for TOC replenishment inventory management using system dynamics Vensim software. This study shows that the proper target replenishment level is how much significant to manage the inventory by the random sample data simulation. This simulation model will be extended to compare the results of the TOC replenishment inventory management planning with the results of the old MRP planning by the enterprise actual inventory data.

  • There have been many studies to improve the performance of a database system focused on modifying data structure, data partitioning, and materializing strategy. The main contribution of this study is to propose a new alternative towards improving database performance by designing single table schema or processing queries virtually in main memory space. Material Requirement Planning(MRP) part explosion process has shown almost 2 times shorter under DB schema we suggested, and even more than 10 times shorter when separating and filtering policy of DB archiving process are assumed. Several experimental results are shown to illustrate the excellence of our solution.
