Implementation and Analysis of Power Analysis Attack Using Multi-Layer Perceptron Method (Multi-Layer Perceptron 기법을 이용한 전력 분석 공격 구현 및 분석)

  • To overcome the difficulties and inefficiencies of the existing power analysis attack, we try to extract the secret key embedded in a cryptographic device using attack model based on MLP(Multi-Layer Perceptron) method. The target of our proposed power analysis attack is the AES-128 encryption module implemented on an 8-bit processor XMEGA128. We use the divide-and-conquer method in bytes to recover the whole 16 bytes secret key. As a result, the MLP-based power analysis attack can extract the secret key with the accuracy of 89.51%. Additionally, this MLP model has the 94.51% accuracy when the pre-processing method on power traces is applied. Compared to the machine leaning-based model SVM(Support Vector Machine), we show that the MLP can be a outstanding method in power analysis attacks due to excellent ability for feature extraction.

Machine Learning Algorithms Evaluation and CombML Development for Dam Inflow Prediction (댐 유입량 예측을 위한 머신러닝 알고리즘 평가 및 CombML 개발)

  • 효율적인 물관리를 위한 댐 유입량 대한 연구는 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 머신러닝 알고리즘을 통해 40년동안의 기상 및 댐 유입량 데이터를 이용하여 소양강댐 유입량을 예측하였으며, 그 중 고유량과 저유량예측에 적합한 알고리즘을 각각 선정하여 머신러닝 알고리즘을 결합한 CombML을 개발하였다. 의사 결정 트리 (DT), 멀티 레이어 퍼셉트론 (MLP), 랜덤 포레스트(RF), 그래디언트 부스팅 (GB), RNN-LSTM 및 CNN-LSTM 알고리즘이 사용되었으며, 그 중 가장 정확도가 높은 모형과 고유량이 아닌 경우에서 특별히 예측 정확도가 높은 모형을 결합하여 결합 머신러닝 알고리즘 (CombML)을 개발 및 평가하였다. 사용된 알고리즘 중 MLP가 NSE 0.812, RMSE 77.218 m3/s, MAE 29.034 m3/s, R 0.924, R2 0.817로 댐 유입량 예측에서 최상의 결과를 보여주었으며, 댐 유입량이 100 m3/s 이하인 경우 앙상블 모델 (RF, GB) 이 댐 유입 예측에서 MLP보다 더 나은 성능을 보였다. 따라서, 유입량이 100 m3/s 이상 시의 평균 일일 강수량인 16 mm를 기준으로 강수가 16mm 이하인 경우 앙상블 방법 (RF 및 GB)을 사용하고 강수가 16 mm 이상인 경우 MLP를 사용하여 댐 유입을 예측하기 위해 두 가지 복합 머신러닝(CombML) 모델 (RF_MLP 및 GB_MLP)을 개발하였다. 그 결과 RF_MLP에서 NSE 0.857, RMSE 68.417 m3/s, MAE 18.063 m3/s, R 0.927, R2 0.859, GB_MLP의 경우 NSE 0.829, RMSE 73.918 m3/s, MAE 18.093 m3/s, R 0.912, R2 0.831로 CombML이 댐 유입을 가장 정확하게 예측하는 것으로 평가되었다. 본 연구를 통해 하천 유황을 고려한 여러 머신러닝 알고리즘의 결합을 통한 유입량 예측 결과, 알고리즘 결합 시 예측 모형의 정확도가 개선되는 것이 확인되었으며, 이는 추후 효율적인 물관리에 이용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

MLP accelerator implementation by approximation of activation function (활성화 함수의 근사화를 통한 MLP 가속기 구현)

  • In this paper, sigmoid function, which is difficult to implement at hardware level and has a slow speed, is approximated by using PLAN. We use this as an activation function of MLP structure to reduce resource consumption and speed up. In this paper, we show that the proposed method maintains 95% accuracy in $5{\times}5$ size recognition and 1.83 times faster than GPGPU. We have found that even with similar resources as MLPA accelerators, we use more neurons and converge at higher accuracy and higher speed.

  • "Protein Folding Problem" is considered to be one of the "Great Challenges of Computer Science" and prediction of disordered protein is an important part of the protein folding problem. Machine learning models can predict the disordered structure of protein based on its characteristic of "learning from examples". Among many machine learning models, we investigate the possibility of multilayer perceptron (MLP) as the predictor of protein disorder. The investigation includes a single hidden layer MLP, multi hidden layer MLP and the hierarchical structure of MLP. Also, the target node cost function which deals with imbalanced data is used as training criteria of MLPs. Based on the investigation results, we insist that MLP should have deep architectures for performance improvement of protein disorder prediction.

A Study on Function Discrimination for EMG Signals Using Neural Network and Fuzzy Filter (신경회로망과 퍼지필터를 사용한 근전도신호의 기능변별에 관한 연구)

  • The most important requirement for the controller of a prosthetic arm is that it has a high fidelity discriminator where the motion control may be performed open loop using EMG signals as a control source. Therefore, it is very effective method to reduce the influence of misclassification of classifier for the total system performance. This paper presents the new function discrimination method which combines MLP classifier and frizzy filter by stages for the requirement. The major advantage of MLP is a consistent learning capability for the easy adaptation to environments. The fuzzy filter uses all informations of MLP outputs and prior EMG activity informations which increase as the experience increases. That property is superior to one which uses maximum output of MLP in view of information amounts and quality. Simulation result shows that proposed method is superior to the probabilistic model, MLP model and the combined model of both in the respect of discrimination quaity.

  • This paper propose skin color detection that uses MLP(Multi Layer Perceptron) and multiple color models. The proposed method reduces weight of MLP by partial connection between input layer and hidden layer based on color models, and the using color models are RGB model and YCbCr model. The experimental result for proposed method showed 94% classification rate of skin and non-skin pixels with 32% decrease in the number of weight compare to general MLP on the average.

  • Password typing is the most wifely ued identity verification method in computer security domain. However, due to its simplicity, it is vulnerable to imposter attacks Keystroke dynamics adds a shield to password. Discriminating imposters from owners is a novelty detection problem. Auto-Associative Multilayer Perceptron (AaMLP) has teen proved to be a good novelty detector. However, the wifely used 2-layer AaMLP cannot identify nonlinear boundaries, which can result in serious problems in computer security. In this paper, a nonlinear model, i.e. 4-layer AaMLP, is proposed to serve as the novelty detector, which can remedy the limitations of 2-layer AaMLP.

  • This paper describes an approach for classifying myoelectric patterns using a multilayer perceptrons (MLP's) and hidden Markov models (HMM's) hybrid classifier. The dynamic aspects of EMG are important for tasks such as continuous prosthetic control or vari- ous time length EMG signal recognition, which have not been successfully mastered by the most neural approaches. It is known that the hidden Markov model (HMM) is suitable for modeling temporal patterns. In contrasts the multilayer feedforward networks are suitable for static patterns. Ank a lot of investigators have shown that the HMM's to be an excellent tool for handling the dynamical problems. Considering these facts, we suggest the combination of MLP and HMM algorithms that might lead to further improved EMG recognition systems.

  • Neural Networks have been advocated as an alternative to statistical forecasting methods. However, the empirical evidences are not consistent. In the present experiments, multi-layered perceptron (MLP) are adopted as approximator to the time series generating processes. To prevent the MLP from being overfitted to the given time series, the information obtained from ARMA modeling is used to determine the architecture of MLP. The proposed approach was tested empirically using the subsamples of the 111 time series used in the first Markridakis Competition. The forecasting results were analyzed to find out the factors that affect the performance of MLP. The experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms ARMA models in terms of fitting and forecasting accuracy. In addition, it is found that the use of deseasonalized data improves the forecasting accuracy of MLP.
