  • In this paper, a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing (SM) relay system is studied in a bit error rate (BER) sense, where every node is deployed with multiple antennas. In order to efficiently use the limited power resource, it is essential to optimally allocate the power to nodes and antennas. In this context, the power allocation (PA) algorithm based on minimum BER (MBER) for a MIMO SM relay system is proposed, which is derived by direct minimization of the average BER, and divided into inter-node and inter-antenna PA algorithm. The proposed scheme outperforms the conventional equal power allocation (EPA) algorithm without extra power consumption.

  • A jamming design scheme to disturb target position estimation of a bistatic multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) radar system is presented. The proposed method exploits the received signals from distributed multiple electronic sensors and combines them to produce a jamming signal. The proposed algorithm can eliminate the target by transmitting the delayed sum or the weighted sum of the received senor signals. Simulation results confirm the performance of the proposed method.

  • When channel state information (CSI) is available at the transmitter, the system throughput can be enhanced by adaptive transmissions and opportunistic multiuser scheduling. In this paper, we consider multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems employing bit-interleaved coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (BIC-OFDM). We first propose a bit-loading algorithm based on the Levin-Campello algorithm for the BIC-OFDM. Then we will apply this algorithm to the MIMO system with a finite set of constellations, by reassigning residual power on each stream Simulation results show that proposed bit-loading scheme which takes the residual power into account improves the system performance especially at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) range.

  • A blind separation problem in a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) linear time-invariant (LTI) system with finite-alphabet inputs is considered. A discrete-time matrix equation model is used to describe the input-output relation of the system in order to make full use of the advantages of modern digital signal processing techniques. At first, ambiguity problem is investigated. Then, based on the results of the investigation, a new identifiability condition is proposed for the case of an input-data set which is widely used in digital communication. A probability bound such that an arbitrary input matrix satisfies the identifiability condition is derived. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulation is performed to demonstrate the validity of our suggestions.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient soft-output signal detection method for spatially multiplexed multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. The proposed method is based on the ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) algorithm, but it significantly improves the performance of the original OSIC algorithm by solving the error propagation problem. The proposed method combines this enhanced OSIC (ESIC) algorithm with a multiple ordering technique in a very efficient way. As a result, the log likelihood ratio (LLR) values can be computed by using a very small set of candidate symbol vectors. The proposed method has been implemented with a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology for a $4{\times}4$ 16-QAM MIMO system. The simulation and implementation results show that the proposed detector provides a very good solution in terms of performance and hardware complexity.

  • Since FDD massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) system deploys hundreds of transmit antennas at base station (BS) compared to conventional MIMO system, the overhead of transmitting channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) increases proportionally to the number of transmit-antennas. To overcome these disadvantages, we proposed beamforming based CSI-RS transmission technique for FDD massive MIMO system which transmit CSI-RS by limited amount of downlink resources.

  • Massive (large-scale) MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) is one of the key technologies in next-generation wireless communication systems. This paper proposes a high-performance low-complexity turbo receiver for SC-FDMA (single-carrier frequency-division multiple access) based MMIMO (massive MIMO) systems. Because SC-FDMA technology has the desirable characteristics of OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) and the low PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio) of SC transmission schemes, the 3GPP LTE (long-term evolution) has adopted it as the uplink transmission to meet the demand high data rate and low error rate performance. The complexity of computing will be increased greatly in base station with massive MIMO (MMIMO) system. In this paper, a low-complexity adaptive turbo equalization receiver based on normalized minimal symbol-error-rate for MMIMO SC-FDMA system is proposed. The proposed receiver is with low complexity than that of the conventional turbo MMSE (minimum mean square error) equalizer and is also with better bit error rate (BER) performance than that of the conventional adaptive turbo MMSE equalizer. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, we analyze a performance of multiuser massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system. We derive the ergodic cell capacity based on a downlink frame structure and analyze the ergodic cell capacity with respect to the number of base station (BS) antennas and the number of users. This paper shows that the ergodic cell capacity is a concave function with respect to the number of BS antennas and the number of users, and also derives the optimal numbers of BS antennas and users for the maximum cell capacity. The simulation results verify the derived analyses and show that the derived numbers of BS antennas and users provide the maximum cell capacity.

  • This study presents an imaging algorithm that can provide an image of a moving target in a multiple-input-multiple-output radar environment where multiple transmitting and receiving radars are fixed on the ground. The proposed algorithm, which is based on polar format processing using plane wave approximation, is shown to provide an unaliased image by using multiple transmitting radars even when the distances between the receiving radars are relatively large. We derive the conditions necessary to deploy the transmitting radars by which the resolution of the reconstructed image can be improved, while simultaneously reducing aliasing artifacts. Moreover, we offer a means of separating out each transmitting radar target echo. Finally, the performance of the proposed system is verified through a simulation.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.
