The recent trend of organic electroluminescent devices (유기 전계발광 소자의 최근의 개발동향)

  • 본 고에서는 최근 주목받고 있는 적층형 유기 전계발광소자의 일반적 형태와 발광특성등에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 현재 완전한 유기 전계발광소자의 개발을 위해 캐리어 수송재 즉, 정공수송재와 전자수송계의 캐리어 수송능력을 증가시키기 위해서 여러가지 새로운 물질들이 연구되고 있으며, 고효율의 발광특성을 얻어내기 위한 발광재료의 개발과 동작시의 안정성을 향상시키기 위한 소자구조의 개선에 대해서도 연구가 국내외적으로 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히, 조만간 일본에서 30cd/m$^{2}$의 휘도를 갖는 적층형 유기 전계발광 소자가 상용화 될것으로 알려져있어 이를 계기로 고휘도, 고효율의 유기 전계발광 소자의 개발이 가까운 시일내에 이루워지리라 전망된다.

  • Using the New Fast Walsh Transform algorithm, we present a new algorithm which reduces the computational amount, and it can consequently calculate the real and imaginary components for current and voltage signals of power system in sampling intervals. The calculation amount is reduced to 2X(m-1) at m samples to measure full harmonics using developed algorithm. When in single harmonic measuring, it needs only 2(log2N-1)+1 additions and subtractions. We developed hardware device for testing, and tested the developed algorithm by measuring real and imaginary components.

  • We demonstrated the efficient blue organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by employing diarylamino-fluorene derived blue fluorescent molecules as dopants. Among those, a device exhibited blue emission with the luminous efficiency of 11.2 cd/A at $20\;mA/cm^2$, the external quantum efficiency of 9.7% at $20\;mA/cm^2$, and the $CIE_{x,y}$ coordinates of (x=0.163, y=0.259) at 8V.

  • New iridium complex was synthesized and demonstrated a deep red light emission in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The maximum luminance of 8320 cd/m2 at 15 V and the luminance efficiency of 2.5 cd/A at 20 mA/cm2 were achieved. The peak wavelength of the electroluminescence was at 626 nm with the CIE coordinates of (0.69, 0.30), and the device also showed a stable color chromaticity with various voltages.

  • We have developed transparent OLED with green phosphorescent doped layer using transparent metal cathode deposited by thermal evaporation technique. Phosphorescent guest molecule, $Ir(ppy)_3$, was doped in host mCP for the green phosphorescent emission. Ca/Ag double layers were used as a cathode material of transparent OLED. The turn-on voltage of OLED was 5.2 V. The highest efficiency of the device reachs to 31 cd/A at 2 mA/$cm^2$.

  • The prominent advantages of Dual Material Surrounding Gate (DMSG) MOSFETs are higher speed, higher current drive, lower power consumption, enhanced short channel immunity and increased packing density, thus promising new opportunities for scaling and advanced design. In this Paper, we present Transconductance-to-drain current ratio and electric field distribution model for dual material surrounding gate (DMSGTs) MOSFETs. Transconductance-to-drain current ratio is a better criterion to access the performance of a device than the transconductance. This proposed model offers the basic designing guidance for dual material surrounding gate MOSFETs.

Fabrication and Characterizations of Thick PZT Films for Micro Piezoelectric Devices (마이크로 압전 소자용 후막 PZT의 제조 및 물성 평가)

  • Recently, thick PZT films are required for the cases of micro piezoelectric devices with high driving force, high breakdown voltage and high sensitivity, and so on. In this work, thick PZT films were fabricated by Sol-Gel multi-coating method. Microstructures, and electrical properties of films were investigated by XRD, FESEM, impedance analyzer, and P-E hysteresis. PZT films with 2.7$mu extrm{m}$ to 4.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were fabricated. Dielectric constant, loss, remnant polarization and coercive field of them were 880~1650 at 1kHz, 2~3% at 1kHz, 26~32 $\mu$C/$ extrm{cm}^2$, and 33~60kV/cm, respectively. Also a transverse piezoelectric coefficient $(e_{31,f})$ measurement system was fabricated and tested for thick film samples.

Millimeter Wave MMIC Low Noise Amplifiers Using a 0.15 ${\mu}m$ Commercial pHEMT Process

  • This paper presents millimeter wave monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) low noise amplifiers using a $0.15{\mu}m$ commercial pHEMT process. After carefully investigating design considerations for millimeter-wave applications, with emphasis on the active device model and electomagnetic (EM) simulation, we designed two single-ended low noise amplifiers, one for Q-band and one for V-band. The Q-band two stage amplifier showed an average noise figure of 2.2 dB with an 18.3 dB average gain at 44 GHz. The V-band two stage amplifier showed an average noise figure of 2.9 dB with a 14.7 dB average gain at 65 GHz. Our design technique and model demonstrates good agreement between measured and predicted results. Compared with the published data, this work also presents state-of-the-art performance in terms of the gain and noise figure.

Phosphorescent Iridium(III) Complexes based on the ppy Ligands Containing Electron-withdrawing Carbonyl Groups

  • We have synthesized and demonstrated a red emission in Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) using phosphorescent iridium(III) complexes based on the 2-phenylpyridine ligands with electron-withdrawing carbonyl groups. Among those, a device exhibited highly efficient red-orange emission with the luminance of 20460 cd/$m^2$ at 12 V, the luminous efficiency of 22.0 cd/A at 20 mA/$cm^2$, and the $CIE_{x,y}$ coordinates of (x=0.560, y=0.439 ) at 10 V.

  • An 8b Fuzzy Coprocessor (FC) is presented that has eight programmable fuzzy algorithms and up to 256 inputs, 64 outputs and 16,384 rules. The 6.4mm2 chip fabricated in 1.0$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology can be used as a stand-alone device or as a macrocell for microcontrollers. Operating at 20MHz crystal frequency, it has a peak performance of 7.9M rules/s. Perspectives of future FC generations are also outlined, including a 12-16b resolution, additional fuzzy set operations, and optimized inference and defuzzification strategies.
