  • In order to use parallel computers in specific applications, algorithms need to be developed and mapped onto parallel computer architectures. Main memory access for shared memory system or global communication in message passing system deteriorate the computation speed. In this paper, it is found that the m-step generalization of the block Lanczos method enhances parallel properties by forming in simultaneous search direction vector blocks. QR factorization, which lowers the speed on parallel computers, is not necessary in the m-step block Lanczos method. The m-step method has the minimized synchronization points, which resulted in the minimized global communications and main memory access compared to the standard methods.

  • In this paper we propose a Neuro-Fuzzy modeling method using mGA for complex nonlinear system. mGA has more effective and adaptive structure than sGA with respect to using the changeable-length string. This paper suggest a new coding method for applying the model's input and output data to the number of optimul rules of fuzzy models and the structure and parameter identifications of membership function simultaneously. The proposed method realize optimal fuzzy inference system using the learning ability of Neural network. For fine-tune of the identified parameter by mGA, back-propagation algorithm used for optimulize the parameter of fuzzy set. The proposed fuzzy modeling method is applied to a nonlinear system to prove the superiority of the proposed approach through compare with ANFIS.

  • This study aims to propose the location selection method of car-sharing services in Daejeon Metropolitan city. In order to select locations for car-sharing, Daejoen area was divided in $500m{\times}500m$ cell size using GIS Arc/Info 10, and input factors which may affect car-sharing service were determined, and then each input factor was standardized for analysis. The weight for each input factor was determined through experts' survey and index of goodness of fit was estimated in each cell ($500m{\times}500m$ size) using AHP method. Also, This study proposed the method to select 30 service facility location using Location-allocation Model in Network Analysis module. The proposed method for the location selection of car-sharing service in this study can be used for preliminary data for initial car-sharing introduction. Henceforward, appropriate demand forecasting and economic evaluation for the location selection of car-sharing service are needed for the further study.

  • A valence bond method of calculation of the dipole moments for octahedral $(M(III)0_3S_3)$ type complexes are developed, using $d^2sp^3 $hybrid orbitals of the central metal ions and the single basis set orbital of ligands. (M (III) =V (III), Cr (III), Mn (III), Fe (III), Co (III), Ru (III), Rh (III) and OS (III)). In this method the mixing coefficient of the valence basis sets for the central metal ion with the appropriate ligand orbitals is not required to be the same, differently from the molecular orbital method. The valence bond method is much more easier to calculate the dipole moments for octahedral complexes than the approximate molecular orbital method and the calculated results are also in the range of the experimental vaues.

  • This study assessed the accuracies of the ground information extracting methods from the LiDAR data. Especially, it compared two kinds of method, one of them is using directly the raw LiDAR data which is point type vector data and the other is using changed data to DSM type as the normal grid type. The methods using Local Maxima and Entropy methods are applied as a former case, and for the other case, this study applies the method using edge detection with filtering and the generated reference surface by the mean filtering. Then, the accuracy assessment are performed with these results, DEM constructed manually and the error permitted limit in scale of digital map. As a results, each DEM mean errors of methods using edge detection with filtering, reference surface, Local Maxima and Entropy are 0.27m, 2.43m, 0.13m and 0.10m respectively. Hence, the method using entropy presented the highest accuracy. And an accuracy from a method directly using the raw LiDAR data has higher accuracy than the method using changed data to DSM type relatively.

  • A new trenchless tunneling method using pressurizing support has been developed. As it overcomes shortcomings of conventional methods, it is applied to the field. The main concept of the new method is the pressurization system which, by means of pressurization bag between outer flange of steel ribs and excavated perimeter, applies the pressure corresponding to the magnitude of the relaxed earth pressure caused by excavation to the ground to prevent ground displacement. The stability of the support members and effect of displacement control of the new method were verified through several ways such as numerical tests and various model tests. The new method was applied to the construction of a 10.7 m wide, 7.9 m high and 85 m long road tunnel that passes under Yeongdong Expressway. By applying the new method, the tunnel construction was successfully completed in 13.5 months. It decreases the construction period to 35% compared to that of conventional methods, and ground displacement was almost negligible.

  • In this paper, we propose an approximation of the M/G/1 system with finite workload capacity, where customers whose admission to the system would increase the workload beyond a prespecified finite capacity limit are not accepted. Our approximation method is based on the idea that the service time of a customer in the M/G/1 system can be approximated as the sum of service times of a batch of customers in the $M^{X}/d/1$ system where the service time is deterministic and very small. That is, the original service time is discretized and approximated by the batch size. We exemplified our method by obtaining the average workload of the M/M/1 system by means of the $M^{X}/d/1$ system, where the batch size is geometric. In addition, the approximate blocking probabilities of the M/M/1 and $M/E_{k}/1$ system with finite workload capacities are sought. The proposed method turns out to give a good approximation, which is compared with a simulation.

Our approximation method is based on the idea that the service time of a customer in the M/G/1 system can be approximated as the sum of service times of a batch of customers in the $M^X/d/1$ system where the deterministic service time d is small enough. • Digital waveform generation technology for SAR payload can be divided into DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) method and Memory Mapped(M/M) method. DDS is the single chip which consists of the Sine Table, NCO(Numerically Controlled Oscillator), DAC, and so on. DDS method is a very simple method because the circuit configuration is not complex but has a disadvantage that can not control phase and amplitude easily by using NCO. M/M method has the complexity of the circuit configuration because it requires the memories which stores the waveforms, the control circuits, and DAC. And this method should apply the high interface technology for being compatible with the wide bandwidth of the digital signal and has the difficulty for PCB design because the number of the signal lines should be increased according to the number of the data bits for DAC. Although it has several disadvantages, this method has the capability of pre-distortion function which can compensate the phase and amplitude characteristics of the system and also has an excellent advantage to make any arbitrary waveform, so this method is considered as an important technology with DDS method. This research describes the technological trends of the waveform generator for the SAR payload and analyzes the characteristics of the technology.

  • Based on the multiple-time-scale (MTS) method, a general formula has been presented for solving an n-th, n = 2, 3, ${\ldots}$, order ordinary differential equation with strong linear damping forces. Like the solution of the unified Krylov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolskii (KBM) method or the general Struble's method, the new solution covers the un-damped, under-damped and over-damped cases. The solutions are identical to those obtained by the unified KBM method and the general Struble's method. The technique is a new form of the classical MTS method. The formulation as well as the determination of the solution from the derived formula is very simple. The method is illustrated by several examples. The general MTS solution reduces to its classical form when the real parts of eigen-values of the unperturbed equation vanish.
