Simulation of reactivity-initiated accident transients on UO2-M5® fuel rods with ALCYONE V1.4 fuel performance code

  • The ALCYONE multidimensional fuel performance code codeveloped by the CEA, EDF, and AREVA NP within the PLEIADES software environment models the behavior of fuel rods during irradiation in commercial pressurized water reactors (PWRs), power ramps in experimental reactors, or accidental conditions such as loss of coolant accidents or reactivity-initiated accidents (RIAs). As regards the latter case of transient in particular, ALCYONE is intended to predictively simulate the response of a fuel rod by taking account of mechanisms in a way that models the physics as closely as possible, encompassing all possible stages of the transient as well as various fuel/cladding material types and irradiation conditions of interest. On the way to complying with these objectives, ALCYONE development and validation shall include tests on $PWR-UO_2$ fuel rods with advanced claddings such as M5(R) under "low pressure-low temperature" or "high pressure-high temperature" water coolant conditions. This article first presents ALCYONE V1.4 RIA-related features and modeling. It especially focuses on recent developments dedicated on the one hand to nonsteady water heat and mass transport and on the other hand to the modeling of grain boundary cracking-induced fission gas release and swelling. This article then compares some simulations of RIA transients performed on $UO_2$-M5(R) fuel rods in flowing sodium or stagnant water coolant conditions to the relevant experimental results gained from tests performed in either the French CABRI or the Japanese NSRR nuclear transient reactor facilities. It shows in particular to what extent ALCYONE-starting from base irradiation conditions it itself computes-is currently able to handle both the first stage of the transient, namely the pellet-cladding mechanical interaction phase, and the second stage of the transient, should a boiling crisis occur. Areas of improvement are finally discussed with a view to simulating and analyzing further tests to be performed under prototypical PWR conditions within the CABRI International Program. 실천지침 이행률에 따른 대사증후군 중재 효과 비교: 직장인 남성 대사증후군을 대상으로 (Comparison of health outcomes according to intervention compliance in male Korean workers with metabolic syndrome)

  • This study examined how achievement of session goals contributes to outcomes of subjects after participation in a 12-week lifestyle intervention program in men with metabolic syndrome (MetS). Thirty office workers with MetS, aged $47.2{\pm}6.6$ years, participated in this study, from March to July, 2011. The intervention program included face-to-face counseling five times during the 12-week period. Counselors and subjects designed session goals for each round. The average of the goal achievement rate was calculated based on compliance for each round. The subjects were divided into three groups according to their tertiles of achievement rate: Low-compliance group (LC, < 59%), medium-compliance group (MC, 59-70%), and high-compliance group (HC, > 70%). Anthropometry, biochemical index, and nutrient intake were examined at baseline and at the end of the 12-week intervention program. After the intervention, diastolic blood pressure (DBP) showed a significant decrease in the LC group, and waist circumference (WC) showed a significant decrease in the MC group. Systolic blood pressure (SBP), DBP, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) showed a significant decrease in the HI group. Changes in SBP and DBP were significantly lower in the HC group than in the MC group (p < 0.05, p < 0.01). Changes in LDL were significantly lower in the HC group than in the MC group (p < 0.05). Results for intake of total energy, protein, fat, and sodium, as well as rates of carbohydrate and fat intake, showed a significant decrease in all participants (p < 0.05). The change in fiber was significantly higher in the HC group than in the MC group (p < 0.05). The change of fruit serving size showed a significant increase in the HC group (p < 0.01). The number of risk factors for MetS showed a significant decrease in the LC and HC groups (p < 0.05), however, no significant mean differences were observed among the three groups. In conclusion, participation in this intervention program resulted in positive effects on risk factors for MetS, nutrient intake, and dietary habits, especially in the High-compliance group.

약광기 HPS와 PLS lamp를 이용한 오이의 보광재배효과 (Supplemental Lighting by HPS and PLS Lamps Affects Growth and Yield of Cucumber during Low Radiation Period)

  • 본 연구는 HPS (high-pressure sodium lamp, 고압나트륨등, 700W)와 PLS (Plasma Lighting System, 플라즈마등, 1,000W) 램프를 이용하여 겨울재배 오이의 보광재배 효과를 구명하고자, 양지붕형 유리온실 3동에 무보광을 대조구로 하여 오이('후레쉬' 품종)를 2015년 11월 2일에 정식하여 2016년 3월 15일까지 재배하였다. 보광은 2015년 11월 20일부터 2016년 3월 15일까지 약 4개월 동안 명기를 14시간/일(일몰 전 약 30분에 점등 개시)으로 정하여 실시하였고, 낮동안의 일사량이 $100W{\cdot}m^2$ 이하일 경우 자동으로 점등이 되도록 제어하였다. 분광투과특성은 PLS의 경우 광합성유효광(400-700nm)이 전반적으로 고르게 분포하나 HPS는 400-550nm 광량이 매우 적은 반면, 550-650nm 광원이 PLS보다 많이 분포되었다. 330-1,100nm 광은 HPS가 PLS에 비해 6% 많았고 UV와 적색광은 비슷하였다. 광합성유효광(400-700nm)은 HPS에 비해 PLS가 12.6% 많았고, 근적외선(700-1,100nm)은 HPS에 비해 PLS가 12.6% 적었으며, R/FR은 HPS가 높았다. 오이의 초장, 엽수, 마디수, 건물중 등의 생육은 무보광에 비해 두 보광등에서 비슷한 수준으로 높았다. 광합성능력은 두 광원 간에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 오이의 주당 과실 개수(무게)는 무보광 21.2개(2.9kg)에 비해 PLS가 38.7개(5.5kg), HPS가 40.4개(5.6kg)로 1.8~1.9배 많았다. 보광등의 설치비와 전기에너지 비용을 고려하여 오이 보광재배의 경제성을 분석한 결과, PLS와 HPS 보광등은 각각 37%와 62%의 소득증대효과가 있었다.

무기염을 이용한 다공성 PVDF 고분자막의 친수화를 통한 초저압용 나노여과막 제조 연구 (Studies on the Preparation of Nanofiltration Membrane for Ultra-low Pressure Application through Hydrophilization of Porous PVDF Membrane Using Inorganic Salts)

  • 초저압용 나노여과 중공사 복합막을 제조하기 위하여 poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) 소수성 중공사막 표면에 무기염인 $K_2Cr_2OH$$KMnO_4$ 수용액으로 친수화 처리를 하였으며, 처리된 막 표면 위에 piperazine (PIP)과 trimesoyl chloride (TMC)로 계면 중합하여 복합막을 제조하였다. NaCl, $CaSO_4$, $MgCl_2$ 100 ppm 용액 및 300 ppm의 NaCl과 $CaSO_4$ 혼합용액을 이용하여 코팅물질의 농도, 코팅시간 및 건조시간에 따른 복합막의 투과특성을 알아보았다. 실험 결과 친수화 물질로는 $K_2Cr_2OH$을 사용하였을 때 더 높은 배제율을 보였으며, 친수화 시간이 길어질수록 투과도는 향상되고 배제율은 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 촉매인 triethyl amine (TEA)과 sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)의 농도가 높을수록 투과도는 감소하고, 염제거율은 증가하였다. 최적 조건으로는 $K_2Cr_2OH$으로 10분 동안 친수화 시킨 PVDF 중공사막 위에 PIP 2 wt% 용액(PIP 함량 대비 Triethyl amine (TEA) 7 wt%, SLS 20 wt% 혼합용액)과 TMC 0.1 wt%를 이용하여 계면중합한 것으로 공급액 NaCl 100 ppm에 대해서는 투과도 40 LMH, 제거율 50%이었고, $CaSO_4$ 100 ppm에 대해서는 투과도 48 LMH, 제거율 55%를 나타내었다.

화강암 석재 가공 슬러지의 재활용 (The Recycling of Sludge from Granite Stone Cutting and Polishing)

  • 화강암 석재가공 공장의 절단 및 연마공정시 발생하는 슬러지를 재활용하기 위해 광물학적 조사 및 화학분석을 실시하였으며, 철분 및 불순물등의 제거 실험을 위한 습식 하드로싸이클론 및 고구배자력선별 실험을 실시하였다. $SiO_2$$Al_2O_3$의 함량은 각각 70.9%, 13.6%이었으며, 요업 및 사업원료로 사용하는데 있어서 백색도를 저하시키는 불순물인 $Fe_2O_3$함량은 2.52%로 비교적 많았으며, $TiO_2$함량은 0.29%이였다. 하이드로싸이클론 실험결과 슬러지의 양은 100~150g/l, Underflow Nozzle의 크기는 2.0~2.5mm, 압력은 1.2~1.6kg/$\textrm{cm}^3$의 조건에서 $-37{\mu}\textrm{m}$ 입도 85%를 얻을 수 있었다. 고구배자력실험결과 10,000가우스에서 $Fe_2O_3$는 0.65%, $TiO_2$는 0.07%인 비자착산물을 얻을 수 있었으며, 분산제로 Sodium tripolyphosphate를 사용한 결과 탈철에 효과적이였다. 슬러지 산물의 물리적인 특성은 백색도 68.5%, 수축율 13.4%, 비표면적 $3.0812m^2/g$로 나타났다.

지반주입재 종류별 주입특성 및 환경적 유해성에 관한 연구 (The Injection Characteristics and Environmental Effects for Grouting Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 고강도 고내구성 및 환경에 대한 안정성이 높은 주입재료를 주입재 형태별로 즉 현탁액형, 용액형 주입재에 배합설계를 실시하여 주입압, 지반조건에 따른 주입효과와 환경적 유해성을 분석 검토하고자 한다. 주입재 특성 및 주입효과에 대한 연구결과, 현탁액형 주입재에서는 초미립자시멘트가 보통시멘트에 비하여 상당히 높은 침투성 및 고결율을 나타냄을 알 수 있었고 용액형 주입재에 사용된 인산과 탄산수소나트륨의 경우 초미립자시멘트와 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. 주입된 고결체의 압축강도 시험결과, 현탁액형 주입재의 초미립자시멘트가 상당한 고강도를 나타났으나 용액형 주입재의 경우 현탁액형 주입재에 비하여 매우 낮은 강도를 나타내었다. 또한 주입재가 가지고 있는 환경적 유해성 여부를 평가하기 위해 대상시료를 주입재의 원재료 및 주입재의 고결시편의 양생일수에 따라 중금속 용출시험을 실시한 결과, 선정한 약액조합 및 고결체의 중금속 함량은 규제기준을 만족하였다.

주부의 취업여부에 따른 가족구성원의 영양상태 비교: 2001 국민건강영양조사 자료 분석 (A Comparative Study on the Nutritional Status of the Families with Working Housewives and with Non-working Ones: Analysis of 2001 Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey Data)

  • In order to investigate if the employment of housewives may affect the nutritional status of their family members, an analysis was made for the data of 2001 Korea National Health and Nutrition survey. Housewives aged 20 or over were divided into two groups of the working (W, 44.3%) and the non-working (NW, 55.7%), and household income levels were divided into 4 groups of low, middle, high, and high above according to the minimum cost of living in the year of 2001. Nutrient intakes were assessed by using dietary recommended intakes for Koreans of 2005. Working housewives showed similar levels to those of non-working housewives in most nutrients intakes except energy and vitamin C. However their families excluding housewives of W, than those of NW, took less protein, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C when assessed as % of recommended intakes and took more sodium. Such differences were very strong in children and adolescents, and in the middle income households. More % of the families of W than those of NW consumed nutrients below the estimated average requirements. Percents of hypertension classified by both systolic and diastolic blood pressure were higher in adult family members of W than in those of NW. This tendency seemed to be more significant in the family members aged 30 to 49. Both obesity and under-weight rates of school children ($7{\sim}12\;yrs$) in W were higher than those in NW. The above resuIts suggested that employment of housewives could have negative influences on the nutritional status of their family members, especially of their children and in the middle income class.

식습관 개선을 위한 음식 짠맛센서 개발 (Development of a Salt Taste Sensor for Improvement on Meal HabitDirection Method)

  • The amount of salt intake of Korean people is 11.4 grams per a day, which is 2.3 times of the recommended daily salt intake by WHO - 5 grams of salt a day. The relationship between high salt consumption and increased risk of high blood pressure, observed not only in hypertensive but also in normotensive patients. High salt intake is also associated with an increased risk of heart attack, cerebral ischemia and osteoporosis. Therefore, this research is for developing a salt taste sensor to reduce sodium consumption and improve meal habits for the perception of a more bland taste of most foods. When the sensor was put into food sample, current intensity achieved with distribution cables. Current intensity was correlate with a simple equivalent of salt taste stimulus intensity. The salt taste sensor consists of salinity & temperature measuring probe, signal processing circuit and LCD display & LED warning light. When salinity is going over a set point, LCD displayer indicate salt taste on LCD panel by percent value (%), and at the same time, blue LED light change to red LED light. So we could know the grade of salt taste in soup before meals conveniently and objectively. The results show that operating range of 10 to $80^{\circ}C$ and accuracy of ${\pm}0.1%$ were achieved with an analysis time of about 2 or 3 sec. Moderate reductions in salt intake can help to avert adult diseases and lead a healthy life.

Effect of Night Interruption with Mist and Shade Cooling Systems on Subsequent Growth and Flowering of Cymbidium 'Red Fire' and 'Yokihi'

  • Growth and flowering of Cymbidium 'Red Fire' and 'Yokihi' plants were examined in a greenhouse with cooling systems in summer, and with night interruption (NI) lighting in winter as a forcing culture system. The greenhouse was divided into two sections with separate cooling controls during the summer season. One section was cooled by a mist system (mist), while the other section was cooled by a shade screen (shade). During the winter, the greenhouse was redivided into three sections within each cooling system. Plants were grown with NI either at a low light intensity of $3-7{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$(LNI) or a high l ight intensity of $120{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$(HNI) u sing h igh-pressure sodium l amps during the 22:00-02:00 HR. The control plants were grown under 9 h short-day condition. NI for 16 weeks and cooling for 9 weeks were employed twice during the 2 years of the experimental period. The air temperature was approximately $2^{\circ}C$ lower in the mist than in the shade and the relative humidity was 80 ${\pm}5%$ in the mist compared to $55{\pm}5%$ in the shade. The daily light integral in the mist section was 48% higher than in the shade section. The time from initial planting to flowering pseudobulb emergence decreased with both LNI and HNI for both cultivars, regardless of the cooling treatments. Under NI conditions, however, between 60% and 1 00% of plants of both cultivars flowered in the mist, whereas no or 20% of 'Red Fire' or 'Yokihi' plants, respectively, flowered in the shade treatment over 2 years. Plants grown under the mist had bigger pseudobulbs than those grown in the shade under both NI treatments. These results show that commercial use of NI in winter and a mist cooling system in summer would decrease crop production time to 2 years and increase profits in Cymbidium forcing culture.

30대 남성의 결혼 여부에 따른 신체계측, 혈액성상, 건강상태, 식품섭취빈도 및 영양소 섭취량 비교 - 국민건강영양조사(2008~2015년)에 기초하여 - (Anthropometic Characteristics, Serum Profiles, Health Status, Food Intakes Frequency and Nutrient Intakes by Married Status of Men Aged 30-39 - Based on Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2008-2015) -)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the anthropometric data, serum profiles, nutrient intakes and diet quality of men in their 30s. The subjects were divided into a married group and an unmarried group. For the study, we obtained data for analysis from the combined 2008~2015 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Mean height and weight of study population were 173.5 cm, and 74.0 kg in the married group and 173.1 cm, and 73.6 kg in the unmarried group, respectively. Systolic blood pressure in the unmarried group was significantly higher than that of the married group (P<0.001), while circulating vitamin D levels in the married group were significantly higher than those of the unmarried group (P<0.001). The proportion of obesity in the two groups was 42.41% and 38.40%, respectively. In the unmarried group, prevalence of depression was significantly higher than that those of the married group. Intakes of energy, water, protein, fat, carbohydrate and calcium in the married group were significantly higher than those of the unmarried group. In both groups, water and fiber intakes were low and sodium intakes were extremely high based on the KDRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans). The mean adequacy ratio (MAR) of the married group was higher than that of the unmarried group. The index of nutritional quality (INQ) in the married group was also higher than that of the unmarried group. Therefore, we propose development of dietary guidelines and education programs for improvement of food and nutrient intakes, nutrition balance and dietary quality of unmarried men in their 30s.
