Assessment of Ground Improvement Achieved using the Cement Grouting by Vibration Method (CGVM 공법을 이용한 지반개량 효과 검증)

  • The cement grouting by vibration method (CGVM), a new construction technology developed in Korea, aims to efficiently reinforce a target ground area by injecting vibrated grout into it. The present study applies the CGVM to test sites and verifies its effect. Standard penetration tests (SPTs), field permeability tests, and geophysical surveys were conducted in two study areas, and the results were compared between before and after CGVM application. The SPT conducted before and after the CGVM application showed that the N value was increased by 33.57% point to 60.90% point. The field permeability test showed that the permeability coefficient decreased. These results indicate that CGVM may increase imperviousness and improve reservoir system stability. In addition, a resistivity survey found no low-resistivity zone, unlike before the CGVM application, thereby indicating the excellent grouting effect of the CGVM.

Computational Analysis of Flow Velocity and Particle Trajectory on the Surface of Bag-Shaped Filters with a Different Permeability (투과율에 따른 백-형상의 필터 표면에서의 유동속도 및 입자궤적 수치해석)

  • Computational simulation was performed to analyze flow velocities and particle trajectories onto the surface of bag-shaped filters with a different permeability. When the permeability of a filter is lower than that of a low-efficient fabric bag-filter widely used, the distributions of flow velocities and particle trajectories on the filter surface were not different with decreasing the filter permeability. The distributions of streamlines and radial directional gas velocities were uniform on the filter surface except for the neighbors of the bottom edge and outlet of the filter. The particle trajectories onto filter surface were more densely distributed around the bottom edge of the filter, so that the particle number on the filter surface was maximized near the bottom edge and decreased in the direction of the filter outlet.

Complex Permeability Analysis of NiCuZn Ferrites (NiCuZn 계 페라이트의 조성에 따른 복소투자율 변화 해석)

  • The characteristics of the complex permeability of ${(Ni_{x}Cu_{0.2}Zn_{0.8-x}O)}_{1-w}{(Fe_{2}O_{3})}_{1+w}$ with various Ni and $Co_{3}O_{4}$ contents were investigated in this work. It is found that the NiCuZn ferrites with $x{\geq}0.6$ have a relatively small peak width of the imaginary part of permeability $\mu$". The resonance frequency is increased as Ni content becomes higher, where the loss is low. The $\mu$" value decreases with increasing FezO, deficiency, but the resonance frequency($f_{\mu"max}$) is only slightly affected by $Fe_{2}O_{3}$ deficiency. In case of $Co_{3}O_{4}$ addition to the NiCuZn ferrites, the $f_{\mu"max}$ increases since the initial permeability decreases with the amount of $Co_{3}O_{4}$. It is concluded that the Ni content in the NiCuZn ferrite is a dominant factor for the total loss of these spinel ferrites.

Thickness Dependence of Microwave Permeability in CoFeHfO Thin Films (CoFeHfO 박막 재료의 두께에 따른 마이크로파 투자율 특성)

  • The microwave permeability was measured in order to analyze the thickness dependence of loss properties in CoFeHfO thin films with varying thickness of t = 57~1368 nm. A single resonance peak (P1) at 2.95 GHz was appeared in the samples with thickness less than 405 nm, while second resonance peak (P2) at 547MHz was additionally appeared in the samples with thickness greater than 405 nm. The P2 was originated by the angle distribution of the easy axis, which was confirmed from the measured results of the change of imaginary permeability with applied magnetic field in the sample of 1368 nm thickness and low field torque curves. If the second peaks can be reduced by minimizing the angle distribution of the easy axis, the CoFeHfO thin films with thickness greater than 400 nm can be used for the compact microwave devices operated at up to 2 GHz ranges.

Effect of Two-step Annealing on the Magnetic Properties of $Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ Amorphous Alloy ($Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ 비정질합금의 자성에 미치는 2단 어닐링의 효과)

  • In a $Co_{67}Fe_{4.5}Nb_{2}Si_{10}B_{15}$ amorphous alloy ribbon the effect to two-step annealing on the soft magnetic properties has been studied. By two-step annealing method which the second annealing at low temperature of $310^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours is undertaken after the primary annealing at high temperature above $480^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes at the vacuum state, the coercive force and the squareness are not changed nearly but the initial permeability at d.c. and the effective permeability at a.c. are remark-ably increased compared with the one-step annealing. The maxima of the initial permeability and the effective permeability at 1 kHz after the two-step annealing are 290,000 and 41,000, respectively, which are 30% higher than those of the one-step annealing. The change of magnetic properties with annealing temperature is discussed in terms of the residual stress, the domain size, the cluster and the crystalline phase.

A Study on the Properties of Grout Materials Based on Cement Type (시멘트계 주입재의 주입특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the characteristics of chemical grouting, such as solidification, penetrability, were analyzed experimentally by grain size of grout materials and permeability, relative density of the ground. For evaluating applicability of grout material, solidification tests and permeability tests were peformed. From the results of the tests, effective solidification ratio and penetrability ratio of Micro Cement were 75% and 86% respectively when ground permeability was in the range of 10$^{-4}$ to 10$^{-2}$cm/sec. On the other hand, effective solidification ratio and penetrability ratio of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) were both lower than 50%. When penetrability of grout material is needed for improvement of dam foundation and soft ground, application of Micro Cement is much superior to that of the other materials. The results of the grouting tests in the hydrodynamic ground show that the solidification effect of long gel-time grout material is excellent as injection pressure increases when groundwater velocity is relatively low. But when groundwater velocity is relatively high, the solidifcation effect of long gel-time grout material is very poor because most grout materials are outflowed.

Measurement of Air Tightness of Concrete Block and its Construction Joint from a Model Experiment (모형실험을 통한 콘크리트 블록 및 시공이음부의 기밀성 측정)

  • Underground compressed air energy storage (CAES) system in a lined rock cavern is considered one of the promising large-scale energy storage technologies. In this study, permeabilities of concrete lining block and its construction joint, which are the major components of an air tightness system of the undeground CAES, were measured from a model experiment. From the experiment, it was found that intrinsic permeability of construction joint was larger than that of concrete block by the order scale of $10^1{\sim}10^4$, so that it would be very important to control the quality of construction joints in-situ in order to secure air tightness of storage system. And the permeability of construction joint could be decreased as low as that of the concrete block by pasting an acryl-type adhesive on bonding surfaces. Higher degrees of water saturation of the concrete block resulted in the lower permeability, which is more preferable in the viewpoint of air tightness of storage cavern.

  • Properties of a good drug include safety, efficacy, half-life and bioavailability. With the current approach to drug discovery based on receptor-based and cell-based screening methods, compounds are frequently moved into development with poor bioavailability. With low bioavailability, drug administration is typically limited to parenteral routes, thus limiting the potential wide-spread utility of these therapeutic agents. The first and most important factor limiting a drug's bioavailability is the intestinal membrane permeability which in turn determines the maximum fi:action of the dose administered that can be absorbed. We have recently utilized new intubation methods for performing permeability measurements in humans and establishing a fundamental human data base for correlating intestinal jejunal membrane permeabilities with permeabilities determined in other systems, e.g., animals, tissue culture, as well as physical chemical properties.

  • The formation of soft magnets on paper(SMOP) is proposed for the first time and we have demonstrated it successfully. Iorn was used to form the soft magnet thin film on paper. And Cr layer was used as a buffer layer because the roughness of substrate(paper) is not negligible. The maximum magnetization of Cr/Fe/Cr/Paper(Fe:5000${\AA}$) is about 1000 [emu/cc] and the coercive field is about 80 [Oe.]. It is necessary to reduce the coercivity and to enlarge the magnetization value of SMOP to perform a good soft magnetic characteristics on paper. On, the permalloy material is the proper candidate for its high permeability, low coercivity and high magnetization values.

  • This research is about the relationship of electroosmotic drainage and zeta potential. Two laboratory experiments were conducted, at first a constant 16 voltage was applied to the cylindrical consolidated specimen of 10cm in diameter, 16cm in length at the concentration of 0, 500, 3000ppm Pb(II) and electroosmotic flow was measured for 12days. Then, zeta potential of kaolinite suspension was measured at the same concentration of electroosmotic permeability experiments in the range of pH from 2 to 14. From the result of this study, it was shown that zeta potential was dependent on the concentration of electrolyte and pH, was proportional to coefficient of electroosmotic permeability. According to the compared result of electroosmotic drainage, as the concentration of Pb(II) was low, the negative value of zeta potential was high and electroosmotic total flow was much.
