  • Using the Transformed Lorenz curve which is introduced by Cho et al.(1999) we propose the test statistic for testing of normality that is very important test in statistical analysis and compare the proposed test statistic with the Shapiro and Wilk's W test statistic in terms of the power of test through by Monte Carlo method.

  • The comparison of two or more Lorenz curves of Pareto distributions of first kind under arbitrary order restriction is studied. The problem is turned out to be a statistical inference problem concerning scale parameters under order restriction. We assume that the location parameters of Palate distributions are completely unknown. In this paper the maximum likelihood estimation and likelihood ratio tests for and against order restriction are proposed.

Gini 계수와 Lorenz 곡선에 의한 지역별 병상분포 양상 분석 (Geographic distribution analysis of hospital beds by Gini index and Lorenz curve)

  • In this study, population census(2005 & 2008) from Statistics Korea and the statistical data of the number of hospital beds by healthcare facilities classification from Ministry of Health and Welfare were used. For analyzing distribution of hospital beds, hospital beds were classified as acute care beds, long-term care beds and all hospital beds, which is including acute and long-term care beds. Regional areas, which are city(si), county(goon) for the study and district(gu) were reclassified as metropolitan city, city(si) and county(goon). Because there were 165 regional areas in 2005 and 2008, 84 and 81 areas were classified as metropolitan city and/or city and county, respectively. Gini index were calculated for hospital beds from each year, and Lorenz curves were drawn. The following summary presents the findings of this study. Compared to the year 2005 and 2008, the Gini index was 0.24472, and hospital bed numbers increased slightly by 0.80% than in 2005. In case of acute care beds, the Gini index was 0.23797(0.13%), and there was no big difference; however, the Gini index for long-term care beds was 0.41091, and there was a 30.25% decrease, which shows improvement to reduce disparities. It might result from an increase in long-term care beds up to 476.2%. For geographical equality of hospital beds, the Gini index and Lorenz curve, which can be compared the degree of inequality in the distribution of hospital beds reasonably and possibly show statistical data, should be used. Through this study, the distribution policy of hospital beds should be established.

  • 소득분배의 가장 대표적인 불평등척도는 Gini index이며, 이것은 통계학자인 Gini가 제안한 지표로서 소득분배 에 관한 분석에서 가장 널리 이용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 두 원의 호에 의해 Lorenz 곡선을 추정하고 코사인법칙을 이용하여 Gini index를 추정하기 위한 새로운 간편한 방법을 제시하여, 소득분포를 따르는 파레토분포에서모의실험을 통해 Ogwang and Rao (1996)의 추정방법과 평균제곱오차 면에서 비교 분석한다.

  • In this paper, we derive the estimators of the location parameter and the scale parameter in a logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples by the approximate maximum likelihood estimation method. We use four modified empirical distribution function (EDF) types test for the logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples using proposed approximate maximum likelihood estimators. We also propose the modified normalized sample Lorenz curve plot for the logistic distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples. For each test, Monte Carlo techniques are used to generate the critical values. The powers of these tests are also investigated under several alternative distributions.

  • This study aims to understand the degree of inequality of surveyed rural amenity resources according to resources and region in basic self governing body by estimating the Gini Coefficient and Lorenz Curve. Case Study was performed in Sunchang basic self governing body which full survey of rural amenity resources was completed. The Gini Coefficient was applied to measure the concentration of amenity resources in 11 Eup-Myun regions, Sunchang county of Jeonbuk province. The results demonstrate significantly different variation according to Eup-Myun regions and amenity variables. This result would be used as a basic data for rational rural planning based on amenity resources through identifying distributional concentration of rural amenity resources in basic self governing body.

  • The inverse Weibull distribution has been proposed as a model in the analysis of life testing data. Also, inverse Weibull distribution has been recently derived as a suitable model to describe degradation phenomena of mechanical components such as the dynamic components (pistons, crankshaft, etc.) of diesel engines. In this paper, we derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators of the scale parameter and the shape parameter in the inverse Weibull distribution under multiply type-II censoring. We also develop four modified empirical distribution function (EDF) type tests for the inverse Weibull or extreme value distribution based on multiply type-II censored samples.   • In this paper, we develop four modified empirical distribution function (EDF) type tests using approximate maximum likelihood estimators for the half-logistic distribution based on multiply Type-II censored samples. We also propose modified normalize sample Lorenz curve polt and new test statistics. We compare the above test statistics in the sense of the power for various censored samples. We present an example to illustrate this method.

지니계수와 로렌츠곡선을 이용한 산악형 국립공원의 탐방집중도 분석 (An Analysis of Degree of Visitor Concentration of Forested National Parks Using the Gini Coefficients and Lorenz Curve)

  • 본 연구는 산악형 국립공원의 탐방집중도를 분석하기 위하여 지니계수와 로렌츠곡선을 적용하여 실증분석 하였다. 탐방집중도는 크게 시간적 변화(1997-2005)와 개별 국립공원 탐방객의 여행출발지 분포 변화에 따른 공간적 집중도를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 2004년과 2005년의 지니계수는 .453괴 .446으로 다른 해에 비하여 불균등 정도가 심한 것으로 나타났다. 개별 산악형 국립공원을 탐방하는 여행출발지 분포에 따른 결과에서는 북한산과 계룡산이 각각 .916, .855로 불균등도가 극심하였으며, 반면에 덕유산과 변산반도가 .508, .628로 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 북한산과 계룡산 같이 배후도시에 인접하여 소재하고 있는 국립공원의 지역 탐방객 집중이 심각한 것으로 나타난 반면, 덕유산, 변산반도, 소백산 등은 상대적으로 특정지역에 편중되어 있지 않다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구에서 적출한 탐방집중정보는 지금까지 탐방분산정책이 개별 국립공원 범위에서 수행되던 한계를 벗어나 전체 산악형 국립공원을 대상으로 시계열 변화에 따른 탐방접중도와 자원유형이 유사한 국립공원간 탐방집중도를 서로 비교하여 전 국립공원 범위에서의 탐방분산정책 수립에 기본적인 정책자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

로렌츠 커브를 이용한 하둡 플랫폼의 최적화 지수 (Measuring Hadoop Optimality by Lorenz Curve)

  • 최근 큰 관심을 받는 빅데이터는 분산처리를 통해서만 효과적으로 처리할 수 있다. 분산처리란 주어진 쿼리를 여러 대의 컴퓨터로 분할하고 각 분할된 데이터의 계산 결과를 취합하는 과정으로, 주어진 하드웨어 리소스를 효과적으로 최대한 사용하는 것이 중요하다. 하둡은 이러한 분산처리를 가능하게 하는 플랫폼 중의 하나로 분산처리에 사용된 컴퓨터의 개수만큼 성능 향상을 기대할 수 있는 확장성을 최대한 보장하는 매우 성공적인 플랫폼이다. 이 논문에서는 하둡 플랫폼이 얼마나 최적화 되어있는지에 대한 객관적이고 계량적인 지수를 제공함으로써 주어진 하둡 플랫폼의 효율성을 측정한다. 방법론적으로는 로렌츠 커브를 이용하여 하드웨어 리소스들이 얼마나 잘 균등히 배분되어 있는지 살펴보고 CPU, 디스크 일기/쓰기 및 네트워크 병목현상에 따른 비용을 감안한 최적화된 로렌츠 커브를 찾음으로써 최적화 지수를 산출한다. 바꾸어 말하면, 이러한 최적화 지수는 주어진 하둡 플랫폼이 얼마만큼의 성능 향상이 가능한지 알려주는 척도로 오랜 시간을 필요로 하는 빅테이터의 처리 속도 개선을 위한 중요한 정보를 제공한다. 실험 자료 및 모의실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안된 방법을 검증하였다.
