The Performance of a New Pressure Reducing Valve Automatically Preventing Pressure Equalization (자동 균압 방지 감압밸브의 감압성능에 관한 연구)

  • It is necessary to use pressure reducing valves to provide required water pressure in water-based fire suppression systems of the tall buildings. In many cases, however, pressure reducing valves lose their function due to the phenomenon of pressure equalization caused by valve leak. This study carried out performance evaluation of the recently developed pressure reducing valve to prevent pressure equalization and found it can maintain designed pressure reducing ratio within 11% variation and prevent pressure equalization by automatic self-lock function of the piston.

Prediction of Influence of Polluted Water Discharged from Saemankeum Lake (새만금 간척지구 담수호 건설에 따른 담수배출의 영향범위 예측)

  • The influence of polluted water discharged from the Saemankeum Lake is predicted by using two-dimensional finite element model. The simulation results show that influence of the Polluted water to the northern part of the Kckunsan Islands is small during flood time. The reason is because lock gates are located in the south of the Kokunsan Islands so that tidal current directing north is blocked by these Islands. However, during the ebb time, the influence of the polluted water is extended to the whole southern part of the Kokunsan Islands. When the amount of ten percent of the total volume of polluted water is discharged from the Saemankeum Lake, equi-concentration contour line of one tenth of initial discharge concentration includes the inner area surrounded by Sinsi Island, Munyeo Island, Bian Island, and Daehang-Li. In general, peak concentration near the lock gates is found out to be higher during the spring tide than the neap tide.

  • This paper proposes the UHISRL(Ubiquitous Healthcare Information System based on Real Time Location) which manages patient, doctor, medicine by using RFID. The proposed UHISRL monitors the patient's health state, and enables us to confirm the result with Smart Phone and Tablet PC. Also, it can block Replay and Spoofing attack by using the ERHL(Extended Randomized Hash Lock) authentication scheme designed in this paper. A patient privacy is enhanced by limiting UHISRL DB access according to attributes with CP-ABE (Cipher Text - Attributed based Encryption) technique. Specially, UHISRL can prevent an unexpected accident by monitoring a chronic patient's emergency situation in real time.

  • In this study, high frequency oscillatory ventilator was designed and constructed. Using designed by phase-lock loop system, in order to accurately and easily treat both the outlet volume and rpm. A system has been designed and is being evaluated using CD4046A PLL IC. We use this PLL IC for the purpose of motor controls. The device consists of PLL system, pumping mechanism, piston, cylinder, and special crank shaft are required. This system characteristics were as follows : 1) Frequency : 20-1800rpm. 2) Outlet air volume : 1-50cc.

  • The gyroscopes have been used as a suitable inertial instrument for the navigation guidance and attitude controls. The accuracy as very sensitive sensor is limited by the lock-in region(dead band) due to the frequency coupling between two counter-propagating waves at low rotation rates. This frequency coupling gives no phase difference, and an angular increment is not detected. This problem can be overcome by mechanically dithering the gyroscope. This paper presents the design method of mechanical dither by the theoretical considerations and the verification of the theoretical equations through FEM(Finite Element Method) applications. As a result, the maximum prediction error of resonant frequency and peak dither rate was under 5 percent. The theoretical equations for the mechanical performances of dither can be said to be feasible.

  • A well-known carbazole-based precursor (probe 1) was used for the detection of cysteine/homocysteine and fluoride. Probe 1 shows a "turn-on" response to cysteine/homocysteine and fluoride via enhancement in emission intensity at 442 nm and 462 nm respectively, in solutions and living cells. Furthermore, probe 1 behaves as a fluorescent molecular switch between cysteine/homocysteine and fluoride as the chemical inputs, which have been used for the development of a combinatorial logic circuit and a molecular keypad lock.

  • A conventional contact type brake system which uses a hydraulic system has mny Problems such as time delay response due to pressure build-up, brake pad wear due to contact movement, bulky size, and low braking performance in high speed region. As vehicle speed increases, a more powerful brake system is required to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. In this work, a contactless brake system of an eddy current type is proposed to overcome problems. Optimal torque control which minimizes a braking distance is investigated with a scaled-down model of an eddy current type brake. It is possible to realize optimal torque control when a maximum friction coefficient (or desired slip ratio) corresponding to road condition is maintained. Braking force analysis for a scaled-down model is done theoretically and experimentally compensated. To accomplish optimal torque control of an eddy current type brake system, a sliding mode control technique which is, one of the robust nonlinear control technique is developed. Robustness of the sliding mode controller is verified by investigating the braking performance when friction coefficient is varied. Simulation and experimental results will be presented to show that it has superior performance compared to the conventional method.

  • This paper presented the implementation and design of narrowband wireless MODEM for packet transmission. The MODEM consists of transmitter, receiver, and the control unit. The BPSK modulation with narrowband filtering is used. The receiver consists of functional modules such as carrier recovery, bit synchronization, lock detector, etc. We evaluated the performance of packet transmission with three MODEM sets implemented in distributed packet radio network. We confirmed the transmission of packetized data through RS232C port of PC. Also, we presented results of experimental data by using measuring instruments. The implemented MODEM in this paper is expected to be useful for the design of wireless LAN system.

  • This paper analyzes braking performance of ABS with Sliding Mode Controller, which is designed in this research and compared with that of a commercial ABS-ECU only. HILS system for this paper has an existing hydraulic brake line with an ECU of commercial passenger vehicle and it is designed to be cooperated with Sliding Mode Controller and hydraulic line. This paper shows the simulation results to meet the target slip ratio on the various road conditions and displays the performance with Sliding Mode Controller has an improvement than a commercial ABS.

  • Heat treatment is a controlled heating and cooling process to improve the physical and/or mechanical properties of metal products without changing their shapes. Today finite element method is widely used to simulate lots of manufacturing processes including heat treatment and surface hardening processes, which aims to reduce the number of time- and cost-consuming experimental tryouts. In this study we tried, using this method, to simulate the full carburizing process that consists of carburizing, diffusing and quenching, and to predict the distribution of carbon contents, phase fraction and hardness, thermal deformation and other mechanical characteristics as the results. In the finite element analysis deformation, heat transfer, phase transformation and diffusion effects are taken into consideration. The carburizing process of a lock gear, a part of the car seat recliner, that is manufactured by the fine blanking process is adopted as the analysis model. The numerical results are discussed and partly compared with experimental data. And a combination of process parameters that is expected to give the highest surface hardness is proposed on the basis of this discussion.
