  • According to proliferation of smartphones and extension of various services utilizing location information, markets of Location Based Service(LBS) have been activating all over the world. However, as the privacy violations of personal location information have been continuously increased, interests in the deregulation have been grown as well. While the regulations of location information can protect personal information and privacy, it causes some negative affect in terms of development of diverse services and industry activation. In particular, Korea is the only country that has applied strict restrictions of LBS by making location information related independent 'Location Information Protection Act'. As a result of this, the issues that LBS industry has no longer developed in Korea and it is necessary for us to relax the regulations have been consistently raised. Thus, this study confirmed that there was the negative(-) relationship between the regulations and the market activation of LBS by comparing and analyzing the correlation between the market growth rate of LBS and relevant regulations at home and abroad; the regulations are strengthened, restrictions in market entry and the business performance can occur. In other words, LBS business will be able to be activated if the regulations which have not directly related to the privacy have been relaxed.

  • The Location Based Services comprised GIS and Telecommunication allow users to receive various services based on their geographic location. It is need to legislation to encourage the provision and use of location information by providing privacy protection to users. But the contents of the legislation proposed by Korean government have problems conflicted between protection of a person's location information and invigoration of location-based services. The purpose of this study is to search complementary measures for privacy protection of location information from a viewpoint of effective management strategy for geographic information.

  • Recently, owing to the rapid progress of Telecommunication technology, the increase of wireless internet’s subscriber and diffusion of wireless device, LBS (Location Based Services) which take advantage of user's location information and receive information in concerning with user’s location to be essential services. Location Based Services are related the moving objects which change their locations through time. Therefore, to provide location-based services efficiently, it is required that an efficient system which could acquire, store, and query the large number of locations. In this paper, we design management system to insert and search a huge number of Moving Object based on Legacy Relational Database.

  • Concurrent with the more widespread usage of smart devices, mobile users' desires are becoming much more complex. Most IT experts insist that smart devices should have additional functions to satisfy these requirements. In particular, research has concentrated on LBS (Locationbased Service), because it is considered one of the most common mobile service types. Generally, Wi-Fi has a critical limitation for use for LBS services, because it requires new network connection points whenever its location (Network Zone) changes. Unfortunately, GPS also has a systematic problem in providing LBS service in the indoor environment, because of its inaccuracy in processing data. So, to redress these limitations, iBeacon technology has been designed, and is currently used for LBS service instead of Wi-Fi or GPS. By using iBeacon, which is based on Bluetooth 4.0 LE technology, we propose a M-SAS (Mobile-Subway-Alarm-Service System) that could accurately and timely provide its users with various mLBS (micro LBS) services, such as current user location, and subway arrival time.

  • There are various Location-Based Services(LBS) that apply GPS technology in mobile devices such as smart-phone and tablet. In this paper, we designed non-face-to-face oriented LBS software in the reality that non-face-to-face services are increasing due to COVID-19. The proposed model searches location information for trading goods or services and utilizes information identified in real time. The proposed scheduling and priority control algorithm provides efficient service allocations and simulation was performed based on web/app to verify this. While commercialized LBS platforms focus on used goods transactions, the designed method is different in that it provides non-face-to-face services and not-direct transactions between individuals. It provides a wide range of transactions and services to users such as small business owners and franchises.

  • This study presents an RTS(Real-time Traffic System) based on an LBS(Location Based Service) using 5.8~5.9GHz RSU(Road Side Unit). The proposed LBI(Location based Broadcast system on ITS) is a local information-based service supported by RSU for drivers, which has a feature of convergence between T-DMB system and ITS-based RTS. The convergence of local broadcasting station and ITS is realized by two-way communication and supports LBS(Location Based Service) by identifying of vehicle's location using RSU. Real-time information delivery and various services could be provided by information exchanges between LMM and local broadcasting stations. Furthermore, conventional technical limitations have been solved mutually such as transmission area limitation in RTS and one-way communication problem in T-DMB. This support real-time two-way communication to each driver. Therefore, it can be expected that traffic dispersion effects and services expansion for drivers by RTS and LBI. Finally, it is proposed to built and implement test-bed around institute.

  • Aimed at the disclosure risk of mobile terminal user's location privacy in location-based services, a location-privacy protection scheme based on similar trajectory substitution is proposed. On the basis of the anonymized identities of users and candidates who request LBS, this scheme adopts trajectory similarity function to select the candidate whose trajectory is the most similar to user's at certain time intervals, then the selected candidate substitutes user to send LBS request, so as to protect user's privacy like identity, query and trajectory. Security analyses prove that this scheme is able to guarantee such security features as anonymity, non-forgeability, resistance to continuous query tracing attack and wiretapping attack. And the results of simulation experiment demonstrate that this scheme remarkably improve the optimal candidate' trajectory similarity and selection efficiency.

  • For enjoying the convenience provided by location based services, the user needs to submit his or her location and query to the LBS server. So there is a probability that the untrusted LBS server may expose the user's id and location etc. To protect user's privacy so many approaches have been proposed in the literature. Recently, the approaches about using dummy are getting popular. However, there are a number of things to consider if we want to generate a dummy. For example, when generating a dummy, we have to take the obstacle and the distance between dummies into account so that we can improve the privacy level. Thus, in this paper we proposed an efficient dummy generation algorithm to achieve k-anonymity and protect user's privacy in LBS. Evaluation results show that the algorithm can significantly improve the privacy level when it was compared with others.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing purchase intention of Location-Based Services (LBS) using privacy-trust-behavioral intention model. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to LBS, privacy-trust-behavioral intention model, and Concern for Information Privacy(CFIP). The target population of this study was LBS users. Data for this study were collected from January 21 to March 20, 2014. The data were gathered from 231 questionnaire respondents with experience using LBS. Among these reponses, 21 were excluded because of missing or inappropriate data. After removing the unsuitable questionnaires, a total of 210 surveys were considered for analysis. The results of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, location awareness positively influence privacy concerns. Second, privacy concerns negatively influence trust. Finally, trust positively influence purchase intention. The results of this study will provide various implication to improve purchase intention of LBS.
