  • The recent power systems are very complex and to model them completely is impractical for analysis of electromagnetic transient. Therefore areas outside the immediate area of interest must be represented by some form of Frequency Dependent Network Equivalent (FDNE). In this paper a method for developing Frequency Dependent Network Equivalent (FDNE) using Z-domain rational Function Fitting is presented and demonstrated. The FDNE is generated by Linearized Least Squares Fitting(LSF) of the frequency response of a Z-domain formulation. This Three-port FDNE have been applied to the test AC power system. The electromagnetic transient package PSCAD/EMTDC is used to assess the transient response of the Three-port FDNE developed under different condition. The study results have indicated the robustness and accuracy of Three-port FDNE for analisys of electromagnetic transient and harmonic assessment.

초미세 틈새의 기체 베어링 해석용 유효 점도의 표현식과 관련 계수들의 민감도 해석 (Sensitivity Analysis of Effective Viscosity Coefficients for Computing Characteristics of Ultrathin Gas Film Bearings)

  • A more accurate expression for effective viscosity is obtained using a linear regression of the data from Fukui-Kaneko's model, which are obtained through numerical calculations based on the linearized Boltzmann equation. Veijola and Turowski's expression is adopted as a base function for effective viscosity. The four coefficients in that equation are optimized, and sensitivity analysis is conducted for these coefficients. The results show that the coefficient for the first-order Knudsen number is the most accurate, whereas the coefficient in the exponential of the Knudsen number is the least accurate compared with Fukui-Kaneko's results. The expression for effective viscosity is accurate within 0.02% rms of Fukui-Kaneko's results for the inverse Knudsen numbers from 0.01 to 100 and surface accommodation coefficients ranging from 0.7 to 1.

적응제어형 외란 관측기를 이요한 BLDC 전동기의 정밀위치제어에 대한 연구 (A Study on Adaptive Load Torque Observer for Robust Precision Position Control of BLDC Motor)

  • A new control method for precision robust position control of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor using asymptotically stable adaptive load torque observer is presented in the paper. Precision position control is obtained for the BLDC motor system approximately linearized using the field-orientation method Recently, many of these drive systems use BLDC motors to avoid backlashe. However, the disadvantages of the motor are high cost and complex control because of nonlinear characteristics. Also, the load torque disturbance directly affects the motor shaft. The application of the load torque observer is published in [1] using fixed gain. However, the motor flux linkage is not exactly known for a load torque observer. There is the problem of uncertainty to obtain very high precision position control. Therefore a model reference adaptive observer is considered to overcome the problem of unknown parameter and torque disturbance in this paper. The system stability analysis is carried out using Lyapunov stability theorem. As a result, asymptotically stable observe gain can be obtained without affecting the overall system response. The load disturbance detected by the asymptotically stable adaptive observer is compensated by feedforwarding the equivalent current which gives fast response. The experimenta results are presented in the paper.

  • 전원사고로 인하여 야기되는 전원급변상황에서 위상각의 새로운 PLL 방법은 추종속도를 개선시키기 위하여 제안되었다. 일반적으로 측정된 전원이 이상적이지 않고 고조파가 포함되어 있으며 센서의 노이즈 때문에 동기좌표계 PLL의 피드백 루프에는 LPF를 사용하고 있다. 그러므로 과도상태의 빠른 동특성을 얻기 위해서 LPF를 고려한 PLL시스템의 모델링을 제안하였다. 또한 전원의 급변 시에 빠른 위상각 검출을 위한 방법으로 자동으로 제어기 대역폭과 LPF의 차단주파수를 변동시키는 가변 파라미터 PLL방법을 제안하였다. 이를 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 검증하여 유효성을 보이고자 한다.

  • A new algorithm is suggested to solve the optimal reactive power control(optimal VAR control) problem. An efficient computer program based on the latest achievements in the sparse matrix/vector techniques has been developed for this purpose. The model minimizes the real power losses in the system. The constraints include the reactive power limits of the generators, limits on the bus voltages and the operating limits of control variables- the transformer tap positions, generator terminal voltages and switchable reactive power sources. The method developed herein employs linearized sensitivity relationships of power systems to establish both the objective function for minimizing the system losses and the system performance sensitivities relating dependent and control variables. The algorithm consists of two modules, i.e. the Q-V module for reactive power-voltage control, Load flow module for computational error adjustments. In particular, the acceleration factor technique is introduced to enhance the convergence property in Q-module, The combined use of the afore-mentioned two modules ensures more effective and efficient solutions for optimal reactive power dispatch problems. Results of the application of the method to the sample system and other worst-case system demonstrated that the algorithm suggested herein is compared favourably with conventional ones in terms of computation accuracy and convergence characteristics.

Buckling of restrained steel columns due to fire conditions

  • An analytical procedure is presented for the determination of the buckling load and the buckling temperature of a straight, slender, geometrically perfect, axially loaded, translationally and rotationally restrained steel column exposed to fire. The exact kinematical equations of the column are considered, but the shear strain is neglected. The linearized stability theory is employed in the buckling analysis. Behaviour of steel at the elevated temperature is assumed in accordance with the European standard EC 3. Theoretical findings are applied in the parametric analysis of restrained columns. It is found that the buckling length factor decreases with temperature and depends both on the material model and stiffnesses of rotational and translational restraints. This is in disagreement with the buckling length for intermediate storeys of braced frames proposed by EC 3, where it is assumed to be temperature independent. The present analysis indicates that this is a reasonable approximation only for rather stiff rotational springs.

태양광 발전 시스템에서의 벅 컨버터 제어기 설계 (Design of Buck Converter Controller in a Photovoltaic Power Conditioning System)

  • Generally, buck converter controller is designed to control the output voltage of the converter. However, design of the controller in a photovoltaic power conditioning system is different from theoretical design guideline. The controller in a photovoltaic power conditioning system controls the input voltage of the converter (the output voltage of the solar cell) to meet a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) performance. In this study, a new model for buck converter used in a photovoltaic power conditioning system is proposed, which is linearized after state-space averaging in each period. Also, mathematical expression of the modeled buck converter is interpreted separately as small and large signals; therefore its appropriateness is measured to design linear voltage and current controller.

비매개변수 핵밀도함수와 강우-유출모델의 합성곱(Convolution)을 이용한 수학적 해석 (Convolution Interpretation of Nonparametric Kernel Density Estimate and Rainfall-Runoff Modeling)

  • 수문학에서 사용되는 강우-유출 모델의 경우 선형적인 시스템을 기반으로 유효강수량으로부터 시간적 지연을 통해서 유출량이 결정되는데 그 양은 강우량의 선형적인 비로 표현되어서 결국 합성곱을 통해 해석되게 된다. 또한 자료에 대한 확률론적 분석에 많이 이용되는 비매개변수 핵밀도함수의 경우, 핵(Kernel)의 의미자체가 합성곱에서 나온 것으로서 개개의 자료를 바탕으로 핵을 통해 매끄러운 확률밀도함수를 구하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 합성곱을 바탕으로 강우-유출 모델과 비매개변수 확률밀도함수를 해석하는 방법에 대해서 되짚어 보고 그 공통적인 특성과 다른 점을 수학적으로 나타내 줌으로써 사용되는 합성곱 함수의 유용성에 대해서 논하였다.

Locally Optimal and Robust Backstepping Design for Systems in Strict Feedback Form with $C^1$ Vector Fields

  • Due to the difficulty in solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equation, the nonlinear optimal control approach is not very practical in general. To overcome this problem, Ezal et al. (2000) first solved a linear optimal control problem for the linearized model of a nonlinear system given in the strict-feedback form. Then, using the backstepping procedure, a nonlinear feedback controller was designed where the linear part is same as the linear feedback obtained from the linear optimal control design. However, their construction is based on the cancellation of the high order nonlinearity, which limits the application to the smooth ($C^{\infty}$) vector fields. In this paper, we develop an alternative method for backstepping procedure, so that the vector field can be just $C^1$, which allows this approach to be applicable to much larger class of nonlinear systems.

큰 초기 자세 오차를 가진 관성항법장치의 운항중 정렬을 위한 비선형 필터 연구 (Nonlinear Filtering Approaches to In-flight Alignment of SDINS with Large Initial Attitude Error)

  • This paper describes the in-flight alignment of SDINS (Strapdown Inertial Navigation Systems) using an EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) and a UKF (Unscented Kalam Filter), which allow large initial attitude error uncertainty. Regardless of the inertial sensors, there are nonlinear error dynamics of SDINS in cases of large initial attitude errors. A UKF that is one of the nonlinear filtering approaches for IFA (In-Flight Alignment) are used to estimate the attitude errors. Even though the EKF linearized model makes velocity errors when predicting incorrectly in case of large attitude errors, a UKF can represent correctly the velocity errors variations of attitude errors with nonlinear attitude error components. Simulation results and analyses show that a UKF works well to handle large initial attitude errors of SDINS and the alignment error attitude estimation performance are quite improved.
