To improve control performance of a non-linear system, many other reserches have used the sliding model control algorithm. The sliding mode controller is known to be robust against nonlinear and unmodeled dynamic terms. However, this algorithm raises the inherent chattering caused by excessive switching inputs around the sliding surface. Therefore, in order to solve the chattering problem and improve control performance, this study has developed the sliding mode controller with a perturbation estimator using the observer-based fuzzy adaptive network. The perturbation estimator based on the fuzzy adaptive network generates the control input of compensating unmodeled dynamics terms and disturbance. And the weighting parameters of the fuzzy adaptive network are updated on-line by adaptive law in order to force the estimation errors converge to zero. Therefore, the combination of sliding mode control and fuzzy adaptive network gives rise to the robust and intelligent routine. For evaluation control performance of the proposed approach, tracking control simulation is carried is carried out for the hydraulic motion simulator which is a 6-degree of freedom parallel manipulator.

This Paper proposes a practical design and implementation methodology for a disturbance rejection controller. In a 2 Degree-Of-Freedom (DOF) structure, disturbance rejection performance can be improved without a high gain in forward-loop controller which might cause unwanted side-effects in conventional controller. But, since design methodology of 2 DOF controller is originally derived from the 2 DOF theory, it is not easy to utilize fer various industrial applications. Disturbance observer is a simple, but very effective 2 DOF controller. In this paper, practical issues are discussed from basic idea of DOB to technical procedure for design and implementation. Additionally, a methods and their examples of experimental modeling are explained. The proposed method is demonstrated by two examples of linear-type motor systems.
A complete current loop decoupling control strategy based on a sliding mode observer (SMO) is proposed to eliminate the influence of current dynamic coupling and back electromotive force (EMF) in the vector control of permanent magnet synchronous motors. With this strategy, current dynamic decoupling and back EMF compensation can be simultaneously achieved. Unlike conventional methods, the proposed strategy can avoid the disturbances caused by the parametric variations of motor systems and maintain the advantages of proportional integral (PI) controllers, which are robust and easy to operate. An improved SMO, which uses a special PI regulator other than a linear saturation function as the equivalent control law in the boundary layer of a sliding surface, is proposed to eliminate the estimated errors caused by the quasi-sliding mode and obtain a satisfactory decoupling performance. The stability and parameter robustness of the proposed strategy are also analyzed. Physical experimental results are presented to verify the validity of the method.
In the previous work, we proposed a new stability criterion for the stability of switched linear systems. By the proposed criterion, we could simply check the stability of switched linear systems because the criterion is applicable to each individual subsystem without need to consider the overall system. Using this criterion, we provided the methods that design a state feedback control when full states are available. In this paper, we apply the same criterion to the case when full states are not available. Unlike existing method such as dwelling time analysis, the proposed method is suitable to a fast switching process because there is no need to consider dwelling time. And we can easily achieve designing multi-controller, multi-estimator, and the supervisor by means of the proposed method.

The objective of this paper is to propose a new velocity measurement method for an electro-mechanical fin actuator. The model of the electro-mechanical fin actuator includes uncertainties such as unknown disturbances and parameter variations in flight condition. So, an electro-mechanical fin actuator system needs robust control algorithm which requires not only position information but also velocity information. Usually, analog tachometers have been used for velocity feedback in an electro-mechanical fin actuator. However, using these types of sensors have problems such as the cost, space, and malfunction. These problems lead to propose a new velocity measurement method using linear type Hall-effect sensor. In order to verify the proposed method, several experiments are performed using Model Following Sliding Mode Controller(MFSMC). It is shown that the MFSMC with a new velocity measurement method using linear type Hall-effect sensor can satisfy the requirements without using of velocity sensor.
A linear input/output data-based predictive control with integral action is developed. The control input is obtained directly from the input/output data in a single step. However, the state estimation in subspace identification gives a biased estimate and there is model mismatch when the controller is applied to a nonlinear process. To overcome such difficulties, we add integral action to a linear input/output data-based predictive controller by augmenting the integrated white noise disturbance model and use each of best linear unbiased estimation(BLUE) filter and Kalman filter as a stochastic observer for the unmeasured disturbance. When applied to a continuous styrene polymerization reactor the proposed controller demonstrates.

Though the technology on the ultra-precise machining has been developed intensively, the high speed and high precision for large machining range is still very hard to achieve. The linear motor system fur the universal machining center is proper fur high speed and high precision, but it has drawback of sensitivity to disturbance. In this research, two degrees of freedom controller based on the zero phase error tracking controller (ZPETC) and disturbance observer are proposed to improve the tracking performance and dynamic stiffness of linear motor system. The proposed controller is verified in simulations and experiments on a nano-positioner system, and the experimental result shows that the tracking performance improved. In addition, the PID optimization method is proposed for the commercialized controller such as the PMAC based system. The tracking as well as impedance is included in the cost function of optimization.
This paper proposes a linear model predictive control of 6-DOF remotely operated underwater vehicles using nonlinear robust internal-loop compensator (NRIC). First, we design a integrator embedded linear model prediction controller for a linear nominal model, and then let the real model follow the values calculated through forward dynamics. This work is carried out through an NRIC and in this process, modeling errors and external disturbance are compensated. This concept is similar to disturbance observer-based control, but it has the difference that H∞ optimality is guaranteed. Finally, tracking results at trajectory containing the velocity discontinuity point and the position tracking performance in the disturbance environment is confirmed through the comparative study with a traditional inverse dynamics PD controller.

This paper proposes the generalized structure of a model-based disturbance rejection controller called a Robust Internal-loop Compensator (RIC). The framework consists of the RIC in the internal-loop to eliminate disturbances and a feedback controller in the external-loop to achieve nominal control performance. As the main contribution of this paper, we redefine the design problem of the RIC as a regulation control problem, then show that this new definition with the RIC structure provides more design flexibility and less implementation constraints. This is verified through a comparative structural analysis with Disturbance Observer (DOB) and Adaptive Robust Control (ARC). Two design examples of the RIC are given, along with practical issues that should be considered in the design procedure. The proposed framework is demonstrated by simulations of a rotary-type motor and experiments with a linear-type motor system.

This parer concerns a design methodology of the observer-based output-feedback digital controller for Takagj-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems using intelligent digital redesign (IDR). The term of IDR involves converting an analog fuzzy-mode-based controller into an equivalent digital one in the sense of state-matching. The considered IDR problem is viewed as convex minimization problems of the norm distances between linear operators to be matched. The stability condition is easily embedded and the separations principle is explicitly shown.
