Image Through a Scattering Medium using Femtosecond light pulse gating method

  • This paper presents a holography through high scatter mediums. Femtosecond light pulses are used as object light and reference light. When light passes through a high scatter medium, there are ballistic light, snake light and difussive light in transmitting light. However, ballistic and snake light are very weak, difussive light is very stronge so that they can not be imaged directly, By using femtosecond laser electronic holographic gating method to gate ballistic light and snake light and multi-holograms processing technology, high quality images can be obtained. 수직 외벽면 적용 BIPV의 Mock-up 실험연구 (A Study on the Mock-up test for applying BIPV in the external curtain Wall)

  • This research is an experimental study on BIPV Power performance of See-through a-si and Light-through applying external curtain wall. In case of See-through a-si Photovoltaic, appropriateness of facade applying standard($950\;{\times}\;980mm$) large($950\;{\times}\;1960mm$)area photovoltaic was examined. Transparent performance was also investigated through Power simulation according to angles and seasons of See-through a-si and Light-through Photovoltaic so that Power output was surveyed with using designed and manufactured Mock-up. When comparing See-through a-si to Light-through Photovoltaic for simulation Power output on angles based on full south aspect, which the result was that See-through a-si Power output according to Light-through Power output was the highest of 65.5% when applying a 90 degree angle. Monthly accumulated average Power output during winter seasons (December, January and February) applying a vertical plane on full south aspect was analyzed, which results in 66.37W/h of See-through a-si and 139.1 W/h of Light-through. See-through a-si Power output showed 47.7% in comparison with Light-through transparent. Also monthly, hourly average Power efficiency according to solar radiation during winter seasons (December, January and February) was that 4.7% of See-Through a-si and 9.8% of Light-through.

  • This study intends to observe how the essential elements of art have changed Human's sense of beauty extending over the whole lives as well as fashion through the investigation of Light and Rays which have played a important role in giving birthe to the new trend of art within the upheaval age of various cultures. The peculiarities of which Futurism of Italy and Rayonism of Russia including Impressionism have a great role in giving birth to a new trend of art by means of the development of science technology are like these. Impressionists looked for the origin of the subtle harmony in nature within changes of sun-rays. The special feature of Impressionism paintings was to express the line of vision diversely according to changes of light rather than to focus on the line of vision with clear outlines. Henceforth, Neo-Impressionism which developed Impressionism more systematically leaded changes of Light and Rays more systematically and scientifically and maintained Divisionnisme techniques which extends to lead towards color and light through dividing and juxtaposing color. In the early 20th century Futurists tried to express dynamism through the interpenetration of light and revive color and light through the division techniques of color and persist an artificial light like eletricity rather than a natural light. Rayonism of Russia which was ifluenced from Impressionism and Futurism maintained intersection of reflecting rays which emerges from an object of things more deeply. This pursuit of light and rays also light and rays also appears as it is in modern fashion. First, it is the fashion which applied sun-rays persisted by Impressionists and expressed colors which show differently according to direction of light. Second, it is the fashion design which re-analyzed what Futurists expressed artificial light and rays. Third, it is the design which expressed Divisionnisme theory persisted by Impressionists and Futurists into fashion as it is and was made of being divided the form of glittering light into small dots. Fourth, it is the fashion design which applied Rayonists'work which applied intersection of reflected rays. Like this, it is aproved that the pursuit of light and rays expresses as it is in modern fashion of the 21st.

  • Apparently light does exist even if it does not have certain form that an object might have. The history of architecture can be told as the history of light. As various master architects as well as scholars mentioned, light has been recognized as one of the most important aspects in perceiving space. Although there are complex multi dimensions in body sense and perception, experiencing space through light is preliminary formed by the outline to the degree of brightness. Light gives space specific and unique character by limiting or enlarging the space by wrapping an object or by reflection of material surfaces or by the intensity of light itself. It is fundamentally important to recognize the essential relationship between light and perception of space through various medias such as material, form, movement and so on. Three types of space perception and cognition by light that have been categorized after studying the most significant writings on light become the core method to further analyze the selected case projects. In this research, we will study how interior space is expressed through different light conditions with above mentioned characteristics and how such expressions can be applicable to the design of interior space.

인공 광원을 이용한 실내 조명 효과에 대한 기초 실험 연구 (Basic Experimental Study on Room Lighting Effects using Artificial Light Source)

  • This study is performed to investigate the effect of the artificial light for room lightening. To do that, the experiments were done using the black room with 1m3 and performed to show the effect of the length between the room and light source and light intensities as LUX. The LUX of 18 sites in the room was measured using LUX meter. The length between the room and the light source was chosen as 500mm, 1000mm, and 1500mm and the light intensities was 3 levels. The results were shown the distinct difference between the part directly projected through the light path and non-directly projected. So, the light delivery path have to be modified for next step research. The results were very sensitive for the part directly projected through the light path. This study showed the basic results for room lightening using light source to simulate the solar lightening and was worth in a strict sense as fundamental study.

Through-field Investigation of Stray Light for the Fore-optics of an Airborne Hyperspectral Imager

  • Remote-sensing optical payloads, especially hyperspectral imagers, have particular issues with stray light because they often encounter high-contrast target/background conditions, such as sun glint. While developing an optical payload, we usually apply several stray-light analysis methods, including forward and backward analyses, separately or in combination, to support lens design and optomechanical design. In addition, we often characterize the stray-light response over a full field to support calibration, or when developing an algorithm to correct stray-light errors. For this purpose, we usually use forward analysis across the entire field, but this requires a tremendous amount of computational time. In this paper, we propose a sequence of forward-backward-forward analyses to more effectively investigate the through-field response of stray light, utilizing the combined advantages of the individual methods. The application is an airborne hyperspectral imager for creating hyperspectral maps from 900 to 1700 nm in a 5-nm-continuous band. With the proposed method, we have investigated the through-field response of stray light to an effective accuracy of 0.1°, while reducing computation time to 1/17th of that for a conventional, forward-only stray-light analysis.

  • 현재 교통약자(장애인, 고령자, 어린이 등)의 보행 속도는 일반인 보다 느려, 기존 신호등의 제한된 시간 동안 안전하게 횡단이 불가능하다. 단지 기존의 보행신호등의 시간을 늘려 해결할 수 있지만 교통약자의 구분 없이 신호 대기 시간만 늘리면 신호등의 효율성이 떨어진다. 본 논문은 스마트 보행신호 등과 보행자의 스마트기기 연동 메커니즘을 제안하고, 이를 통해 교통약자와 일반인을 구분하여 교통약자에게 추가 보행 시간을 제공으로 교통체증을 최소화 하고자 한다. 스마트 보행신호등은 사물인터넷(IOT) 기술을 활용하여 교통약자를 식별하는 교통약자 중심의 보행신호등 메커니즘이다. 또한 시뮬레이션 기법을 통한 효율적 스마트 보행신호등 메커니즘 구축에 필요한 Data를 추출하고 스마트 보행신호등의 효율성 확인을 위해 가상의 시뮬레이션 환경에서 여러 종류의 신호등을 구축하여 인원 증가에 따른 신호대기시간 비교 분석 통해 효율적 시간을 검증한다.

루이스 바라간 주택공간에 나타난 빛과 건축공간요소의 상관적 표현 특성 (Characteristics of Relational Representation of Light and Architectural Space Elements in Luis Barragan's Houses)

  • Luis Barragan is a representative Mexican architect. He designed architectural space as a local architect in consideration of the Mexico's harsh Mediterranean climate. His manifestation of the regionality can be found mainly in his precise expression of light. Such method and concept of using light in Barragan's architecture made a huge impact on later architects but detailed studies on this issue have not been made actively. Hence, this paper intended to suggest a starting point or an orientation by illustrating the characteristics of using and expressing light in architecture through his cases of housing works. The study method was as follows. First, the general characteristics of light were identified by analyzing the elements of architectural space that dealt with light and the characteristics of expressing light shown in the architectural space. Second, the architectural background of Luis Barragan and the architectural space elements of the light expressed in his architectural space were extracted to form a hypothetical ground. Third, five of his works on the houses in his prime (after the year of 1945) were analyzed to explore the characteristics of relational representation between light and the architectural space elements in his architecture. Through this process, it was learned that, in his architectural works, light was the embodiment of the location-related, time-based, daily and illusionary experience into architecture. In addition, meditative light could be experienced by contrasting the soft and dispersed light and shadow of the inside space of Barragan's houses with the strong external light. Therefore, through the process above, this study is hoped to provide an opportunity for the contemporary architects of our era to rethink the fundamental correlation between architecture and light.

청광차단렌즈의 청광차단성능과 처방에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Blue Light Blocking Performance and Prescription for Blue Light Blocking Lens)

  • 목적: 광원에 따른 청광차단렌즈의 청광차단율과 청광비율을 조사하고, 이를 활용한 청광차단렌즈의 처방에 대하여 고찰하였다. 방법: 광원에 따른 청광차단렌즈의 청광차단율과 청광비율의 조사를 위해 UV-VIS 분광광도계를, 청광차단렌즈와 관련된 처방을 평가하는 기준으로 태양광에 대한 청광비율을 이용하였다. 결과: 렌즈의 청광차단율과 청광비율은 광원에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 모든 BLU 광원의 청광비율은 태양광($D_{65}$ 광원)의 청광비율보다 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 태양광의 청광비율과 렌즈 투과광의 청광비율을 통해 각 광원에 적합한 청광차단렌즈들을 선별할 수 있었다. 결론: 청광차단렌즈 처방에 있어서 렌즈의 청광차단율과 청광비율이 광원에 의존하므로 사용자의 광원에 대한 문진이 선행되어야 한다. 태양광의 청광비율에 기준한 렌즈 투과광의 청광비율은 청광차단렌즈의 처방과 관련된 하나의 평가 방법으로 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
