Analysis of Science Social Emotions Learning on Secondary Science Curriculum Achievement Standards and Textbooks (과학과 교육과정 성취기준과 교과서의 사회정서학습 요소 분석)

  • This study investigated and analyzed the social and emotional learning components of middle school science, and high school integrated science and science inquiry experiments, which are common subjects that all students must complete. The subjects of analysis were 139 achievement standards of science and curriculum and 496 activities included in textbooks. The research results are as follows. In the case of curriculum achievement standards, 'cultural understanding' was hardly included among the seven science and social-emotional learning elements, 'numeracy' and 'creative thinking' appeared high in middle school, 'critical thinking', 'social technology' and 'ethical understanding' were included with high frequency in high school. And in the case of textbook activity, the tendency of social-emotional learning elements in middle school and high school was similar. 'critical thinking', 'creative thinking', and 'social skills' were mainly provided, while 'ethical understanding' and 'cultural understanding' were reflected in a limited way. In order to cultivate the elements of overall social-emotional learning, it is necessary to specify the achievement standards of the curriculum or to supplement the textbook activities and teaching-learning process.

Parameterization of the Company's Business Model for Machine Learning-Based Marketing Stress Testing

  • Marketing stress testing is a new method of identifying the company's strengths and weaknesses in a turbulent environment. Technically, this is a complex procedure, so it involves artificial intelligence and machine learning. The main problem is currently the development of methodological approaches to the development of the company's digital model, which will provide a framework for machine learning. The aim of the study was to identify and develop an author's approach to the parameterization of the company's business processes for machine learning-based marketing stress testing. This aim provided the company's activities to be considered as a set of elements (business processes, products) and factors that affect them (marketing environment). The article proposes an author's approach to the parameterization of the company's business processes for machine learning-based marketing stress testing. The proposed approach includes four main elements that are subject to parameterization: elements of the company's internal environment, factors of the marketing environment, the company' core competency and factors impacting the company. Matrices for evaluating the results of the work of expert groups to determine the degree of influence of the marketing environment factors were developed. It is proposed to distinguish between mega-level, macro-level, meso-level and micro-level factors depending on the degree of impact on the company. The methodological limitation of the study is that it involves the modelling method as the only one possible at this stage of the study. The implementation limitation is that the proposed approach can only be used if the company plans to use machine learning for marketing stress testing.

  • Prezi, which is an implemented software in the form of flash-based online presentation, is considered to be a new appropriate smart-learning tool. This study aimed to investigate an impact of project learning utilizing Prezi on the creativity, attitudes toward science and science process skills of scientific gifted children in elementary school. The results of this study were as follows; First, after project learning utilizing Prezi, their creativity was raised meaningfully, especially in sub-elements of patience, adaptability and variety of interestings. Second, project learning utilizing Prezi showed meaningful effect on their improvement of science process skill, especially in integrated science process skills. Third, project learning utilizing Prezi improved their attitudes toward science meaningfully. In almost sub-elements, except the element of ordinariness of scientist, positive meaningful improvements were showed.

  • The so-called curse of dimensionality arises when Gaussian mixture is used on high-dimensional small-sample-size data, since the number of free elements that needs to be specied in each covariance matrix of Gaussian mixture increases exponentially with the number of dimension d. In this paper, by constraining the covariance matrix in its decomposed orthonormal form we get a local PCA model so as to reduce the number of free elements needed to be specified. Moreover, to cope with the small sample size problem, we adopt BYY data smoothing learning which is a regularization over maximum likelihood learning obtained from BYY harmony learning to implement this local PCA model.

  • SCORM is an implementation reference model and also a de-facto standard technology designed for developing e-learning contents and systems effectively. For recent years, as many researchers have been more interested than ever in game based learning, ADL as a SCORM developer, has initiated a basic research on game based learning. However, the game based learning research of ADL has been performed conceptually as well as separately from SCORM so that it lacks in efforts for developing a game based learning SCORM content by incorporating concrete game data into SCORM data model. In this paper, we first present a method for applying game data elements to SCORM data Model, and then illustrate a game based learning SCORM content developed by our method.

Board Game Design for Disaster Safety Education for Elementary School Students Based on Learning Motivation Theory (학습동기이론 기반의 초등학생 재난안전 교육을 위한 보드게임 설계)

  • In order to improve safety consciousness due to the increase in disasters and safety accidents, safety education is necessary to prepare for disasters with interest in safety. This study is a board game design for disaster safety education for elementary school students based on Keller's learning motivation theory. By considering the school safety curriculum and the safety education contents of the School Safety Mutual Aid Association and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the content and goals of learning were derived and the order of learning was determined. When designing game content, the fun elements of the game were applied to Keller's learning motivation inducing factors such as attention concentration (A), relevance (R), confidence (C), satisfaction (S), and educational game design elements to induce the achievement of learning goals at the game planning stage. It is expected that the existing safety education focusing on lecture-style and audiovisual will be supplemented and used in the educational field.

Automated Generation of BIM Models with Indoor Spaces Using Street View Façade Images

  • The importance of 3D city models for sustainable urban development and management is underscored, but existing models often overlook indoor spaces and attribute information. This issue can be tackled with BIM models, though the conventional method requires accurate and extensive information, incurring considerable time and cost in data collection and processing. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes a method to automatically generate BIM models that include indoor spaces using street view images. The proposed method uses YOLOv5 to identify façade elements and DBSCAN to normalize façade layouts, facilitating the generation of detailed BIM models with a parametric algorithm. To validate the method, a case study of a building in Korea was conducted. The results showed that indoor spaces similar to the actual building were generated, with an error rate of object quantities between 8.46% and 9.03%. This study is anticipated to contribute to the efficient generation of 3D city models that incorporate indoor spaces.

  • In this paper, two specially designed associative mapping memories, called Associative Mapping Elements(AME) and Multiple-Digit Overlapping AME(MDO-AME), are presented for learning of nonlinear functions including kinematics and dynamics of robot manipulators. The proposed associative mapping memories consist of associative mapping rules(AMR) and weight update rules(WUR) which guarantee generalization and specialization of input-output relationship of learned nonlinear functions. Two simulation results, one for supervised learning and the other for unsupervised learning, are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed associative mapping memories.

  • This paper proposes a new learning recommendation system for learning patterns that educators are applying to learners using item-based method. The proposed method in this paper first collects personal learning methods based on learning information that learners are performing through the internet contents site. Then this system recommends a learning method which is estimated most properly to learners after classifying learning elements based on these information. The students of a middle school took part in the experiment in order to evaluate the proposed system, and the students were divided into three groups according to their grades. We gave inter-attribute and intra-attribute weights to learning elements applying to each group for recommending the most efficient method to improve learning achievement. The experiment showed that the learning achievement of learners in the proposed method is improved considerably compared to the previous grades.

  • Given the lack of research on the measurement domain, this paper analyzed the statements related to length and area in the curricular materials developed under the 7th and the current mathematics curriculum in terms of the degree of guidance and the key learning elements of measurement. The results showed that despite the similarity of the most prevalent guidance type and learning elements, the current materials used open-ended or combined types in place of guided types and employed measurement reasoning and components while decreasing mere calculation in measurement, in comparison with the previous textbooks and workbooks. This paper close with implications on the revision of curricular materials related to the measurement domain as well as methodological suggestions of textbook analysis.
