Layered Visibility Graph With Convex Hull to Avoid the Complex Terrain for UAV (무인기의 복잡한 지형 회피를 위한 Convex Hull 기반의 계층형 Visibility Graph)

  • This paper introduces a method which can be effectively used for the path planning of UAV in a realistic map which has mountainous terrains, air defense networks and radars based on the Visibility Graph. Existing studies of Visibility Graph have been studied mainly for simple shape obstacles in 2-dimensional environment such as self-driving cars which avoid buildings. However, for UAV, Visibility Graph must be used in 3-dimensional environment for the variance of altitude. This occurs significant elapsed time increase because of the increase of the amount of the visibility of node sets. To solve this problem, this paper decrease the number of nodes which consists the complex terrain environments using convex hull based on Layered Visibility Graph. With convex hull method, this paper confirmed that the elapsed time is decreased about 99.5% compared to the case which has no decrease of the number of nodes.

A Study on Load Balanced Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for Wavelength Routed Optical Networks (파장 분할 광 네트워크에서 로드 밸런싱 기법을 적용한 라우팅 및 파장할당 알고리즘 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose load balanced routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) algorithm for static model. The proposed algorithm arranges the routing paths over the link uniformly and assigns routing paths according to the length of routing paths orderly. Thus, the proposed algorithm can efficiently utilize the network resources. Through the computer simulation on layered-graph model, we prove that the proposed algorithm improves network throughput and reduces blocking probability comparing to first-fit algorithm [1]. Moreover, the proposed algorithm considerably reduces computational time.

  • Metabolimics interprets an organism as a network of functional units and an organism is represented by a metabolic pathway i.e., well-displayed graph. So a software tool for drawing pathway is necessary to understand it comprehensively. These tools have a problem that edge-crossings exponentially increase as the number of nodes grows. To apply automatic graph layout techniques to the genome-scale metabolic flow, it is very important to reduce unnecessary edge-crossing on a metabolic pathway layout. In this paper, we design and implement 2.5D metabolic pathway layout modules. Metabolic pathways are represented hierarchically by making use of the '2-layered layout algorithm' in 3D. It enhances the readability and reduces unnecessary edge-crossings by using 3D layout modules instead of 2D layout algorithms.

  • This paper discusses a technique that can detect cascading disturbances for automated monitoring and diagnosis systems in power plants. A multi-layered directed AND/OR graph called a disturbance interrelation analysis graph (DIAG) is utilized to represent the relationships among cascading disturbances and trace them. Disturbances that cannot be observed directly from sensors can be traced using techniques similar to interpolations and extrapolations on the DIAG.

  • An upright drawing of a planar graph G on k layers is a planar straight-line drawing of G, where the vertices of G are placed on a set of k horizontal lines, called layers and no two adjacent vertices are placed on the same layer. There is a previously known algorithm that decides in linear time whether a planar graph admits an upright drawing on k layers for a fixed value of k. However, the constant factor in the running time of the algorithm increases exponentially with k and makes it impractical even for k = 3. In this paper, we give a linear-time algorithm to examine whether a biconnected planar graph G admits an upright drawing on three layers and to obtain such a drawing if it exists. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for a tree to have an upright drawing on three layers. Our algorithms in both the cases are much simpler and easier to implement than the previously known algorithms.

A Selective Protection Scheme for Scalable Video Coding Based on Dependency Graph Model

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient and effective selective protection scheme to SVC that exploit the propagation of protection effect by protecting significant frames that can give the maximum visual quality degradation. We model SVC dependency coding structure as a directed acyclic graph which is characterized with an estimated visual quality value as the attribute at each node. The estimated visual quality is calculated by using our model based on the proportions of intra- and inter-predicted MBs, amounts of residual, and estimated visual quality of reference frames. The proposed selective protection scheme traverses the graph to find optimal protection paths that can give maximum visual quality degradation. Experimental results show that the proposed selective protection scheme reduces the required number of frames to be protected by 46.02% compared to the whole protection scheme and 27.56% compared to the layered protection scheme.

Implementation of Layered Clouds considering Frame Rate and Reality in Real-time Flight Simulation (비행시뮬레이션에서 프레임율과 현실감을 고려한 계층형 구름 구현 방안)

  • There are two main technologies to implement cloud effect in flight simulator, cloud modeling using particle system and texture mapping. In former case, this approach may cause a low frame rate while unrealistic cloud effect is observed in latter case. To Solve this problem, in this paper, we propose how to apply fog effect into camera to display more realistic cloud effect with high frame rate. The proposed method is tested with massive terrain database environment through implemented software by using OpenSceneGraph. As a result, compared to texture mapping method, the degree of difference on frame rate is 1 or 2Hz while the cloud effect is significantly improved as realistic as particle system.

  • In this paper, we develop a Spatio-Temporal graph as of a key component of our knowledge representation Scheme. We design an integrated representation scheme to depict not only present and past but future in parallel with the spaces in an effective and intuitive manner. An event in general occupies not only a space but a time. Hence a crucial premise for the simulation of virtual situations is to position events in the multi-dimensional context, that is, 3-D space extended by the temporal dimension. Furthermore an event tends to have physical, social and mental aspects intertwined. As a result we need diverse information structures and functions to model entities and relations associated with events and to describe situations in different stances or perspectives of the virtual agents. These structures and functions are implemented in terms of integrated and intuitive representation schemes at different levels such as Ontology View, Instance View, ST View, Reality View. The resulting multi-dimensional comprehensive knowledge structure accommodates multi-layered virtual world developing in the time to maximize the diversity of situations in the historical context. The viability of this knowledge representation scheme is demonstrated with a typical scenario applied to a simulator implemented based on the ST Graph. The virtual stage based on the ST graph can be used to provide natural contexts for situated learning or next-generation simulation games.

Solving a Path Assignment Problem using s-t Cuts (그래프의 s-t 절단을 이용한 경로 배정 문제 풀이)

  • We introduce a noble method to find a variation of the optimal path problem. The problem is to find the optimal decomposition of an original planar region such that the number of paths in the region is minimized. The paths are required to uniformly cover each subregion and the directions of the paths in each sub-region are required to be either entirely vertical or entirely horizontal. We show how we can transform the path problem into a graph s-t cut problem. We solve the transformed s-t cut problem using the Ford-Fulkerson method and show its performance. The approach can be used in zig-zag milling and layerd manufacturing.

Network Intrusion Detection Based on Directed Acyclic Graph and Belief Rule Base

  • Intrusion detection is very important for network situation awareness. While a few methods have been proposed to detect network intrusion, they cannot directly and effectively utilize semi-quantitative information consisting of expert knowledge and quantitative data. Hence, this paper proposes a new detection model based on a directed acyclic graph (DAG) and a belief rule base (BRB). In the proposed model, called DAG-BRB, the DAG is employed to construct a multi-layered BRB model that can avoid explosion of combinations of rule number because of a large number of types of intrusion. To obtain the optimal parameters of the DAG-BRB model, an improved constraint covariance matrix adaption evolution strategy (CMA-ES) is developed that can effectively solve the constraint problem in the BRB. A case study was used to test the efficiency of the proposed DAG-BRB. The results showed that compared with other detection models, the DAG-BRB model has a higher detection rate and can be used in real networks.
