Dynamic Behavior of Cracked Pipe Conveying Fluid with Moving Mass Based on Timoshenko Beam Theory

  • In this paper we studied about the effect of the open crack and the moving mass on the dynamic behavior of simply supported pipe conveying fluid. The equation of motion is derived by using Lagrange's equation and analyzed by numerical method. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments i.e. the crack is modeled as a rotational spring. The influences of the crack severity, the position of the crack, the moving mass and its velocity, the velocity of fluid, and the coupling of these factors on the vibration mode, the frequency, and the mid-span displacement of the simply supported pipe are depicted.

  • An iterative modal analysis approach is developed to determine the effect of the transverse open cracks and the moving mass on the dynamic behavior of simply supported pipe conveying fluid. The equation of motion is derived by using Lagrange's equation. The influences of the velocity of moving mass, the velocity of fluid flow and a crack have been studied on the dynamic behavior of a simply supported pipe system by numerical method. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments. that is, the crack is modelled as a rotational spring. Totally, as the velocity of fluid flow is increased, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe conveying fluid is increased. The position of the crack is middle point of the pipe, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe presents maximum deflection.

  • In this paper a dynamic behavior of simply supported cracked pipe conveying fluid with the moving mass is presented. Based on the Timoshenko beam theory, the equation of motion can be constructed by using the Lagrange's equation. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments i.e. the crack is modelled as a rotational spring. This flexibility matrix defines the relationship between the displacements and forces across the crack section and is derived by applying fundamental fracture mechanics theory. And the crack is assumed to be in th first mode of fracture. As the depth of the crack and velocity of fluid are increased the mid-span deflection of the pipe conveying fluid with the moving mass is increased. As depth of the crack is increased, the effect that the velocity of the fluid on the mid-span deflection appears more greatly.

  • In this paper a dynamic behavior(natural frequency) of a cracked cantilever and simply supported pipe conveying fluid is presented. In addition, an analysis of the flutter and buckling instability of a cracked pipe conveying fluid subjected to a follower compressive load is presented. Based on the Euler-Bernouli beam theory, the equation of motion can be constructed by using the Lagrange's equation. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments. The crack is assumed to be in the first mode of fracture and to be always opened during the vibrations.

  • In this paper the vibration system is consisted of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid and tip mass. The equation of motion is derived by using the Lagrange's equation. The system of pipe conveying fluid becomes unstable by flutter. Therefore, the influence of a rotating angular velocity, mass ratio, the velocity of fluid flow and tip mass on the stability of a cantilever pipe by the numerical method are studied. The critical flow velocity for flutter is proportional to the angular velocity and tip mass of the cantilever pipe. Also, the critical flow velocity and stability maps of the pipe system are obtained by changing the mass ratios.

  • The vibration system in this study is consisted of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid and a tip mass. The equation of motion is derived by using the Lagrange's equation. The influences of the rotating angular velocity and the velocity of fluid flow on the natural frequencies of a cantilever pipe have been studied by the numerical method. The effects of a tip mass on the natural frequencies of a rotating cantilever pipe are also studied. The influences of a tip mass, the velocity of fluid, the angular velocity of a cantilever pipe and the coupling of these factors on the natural frequency of a cantilever pipe are analytically clarified. The natural frequencies of a cantilever pipe conveying fluid are proportional to the angular velocity of the pipe in both axial direction and lateral direction.

  • In this paper, it was presented to design and analyze the kinematics of grasping a rigid object by means of multi-degrees-of-freedom hand fingers. It is shown firstly that a set of kinematic equation describing dynamics system of the arm and object together with geometric constraint of tight area-contacts is formulated by Lagrange's equation. It has been presented secondly that the problems of controlling both the forces of pressing object and the rotation angle of the object under the geometric constraints are discussed. In this research, the control method for static stable grasping and enhancing dexterity in manipulating things is proposed. It is illustrated by computer simulation that the control system gives the performance improvement in the kinematic grasping of the hand fingers of robot.

Totally, as the velocity of fluid flow and the crack severity are increased, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe conveying fluid is increased. The time which produce the maximum dynamic deflection of the simply supported pipe is delayed according to the increment of the crack severity.

  • The dynamic behavior of a moving elastic body system with three constant velocitics on a simple beam with an axial load is analyzed by numerical method. A moving elastic body system is composed of an elastic body and a suspension unit with two unsprung masses. The governing equations are derived with an aid of Lagrange's equation. These equation are solved by Runge-Kutta method. The damping coefficients a spring constants of the suspension unit the force circular frequency on a moving elastic body the velocity of a moving elastic body system. These effects are more important in the high modes of a simple beam.

  • In this paper, we design a GA-fuzzy controller for position control and anti-swing at the destination point. Applied genetic algorithm is used to complement the demerit such as the difficulty of the component selection of fuzzy controller, namely, scaling factor, membership function and control rules. Lagrange equation is used to represent the motion equation of trolley and load in order to obtain mathematical modelling.
