In Part 1, we derived robust stability conditions for an LTI interconnected to time-varying nonlinear perturbations belonging to several classes of nonlinearities. These conditions were presented in terms of positive definite solutions to LMI. In this paper we address a problem of synthesizing feedback controllers for linear time-invariant systems under structured time-varying uncertainties, combined with a worst-case H$_{2}$ performance. This problem is introduced in [7, 8, 15, 35] in case of time-invariant uncertainties, where the necessary conditions involve highly coupled linear and nonlinear matrix equations. Such coupled equations are in general difficult to solve. A convex optimization approach will be employed in this synthesis problem in order to avoid solving highly coupled nonlinear matrix equations that commonly arises in multiobjective synthesis problem. Using LMI formulation, this convex optimization problem can in turn be cast as generalized eigenvalue minimization problem, where an attractive algorithm based on the method of centers has been recently introduced to find its solution [30, 361. In the present paper we will restrict our discussion to state feedback case with Popov multipliers. A more general case of output feedback and other types of multipliers will be addressed in a future paper.

This paper presents an output feedback controller design method for uncertain linear systems with sinusoidal disturbance of uncertain frequencies. The controller needs to compensate for the performance deterioration due to the uncertain frequencies of sinusoidal disturbance. To this end, we introduce a virtual system including the dynamics corresponding to the uncertain frequencies and design a controller which minimizes the output difference between the virtual system and the closed-loop system. In other words, the controller is designed so that the closed-loop system approximates the virtual system. The feedback controller is achieved by solving an LMI optimization problem involving a robust $H_{\infty}$ constraint. The advantages of the proposed design method are examined by comparing it with a design method that only minimizes the $H_{\infty}$ norm of the transfer function between the sinusoidal disturbance and the output. The proposed design method is applied to the track-following system of rewritable optical disk drives and is evaluated through an experiment.

This paper presents not only the robust stabilization technique but also robust non-fragile controller design method for discrete-time singular systems and static state feedback controller with multiplicative uncertainty. The condition for the existence of robust stabilization controller, the admissible controller design method, and the measure of non-fragility in controller are proposed via LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach. In order to get the maximum measure of non-fragility, the obtained sufficient condition can be rewritten as LMI optimization form in terms of transformed variable. Therefore, the presented robust non-fragile controller for discrete-time singular systems guarantees robust stability in spite of parameter uncertainty and controller fragility. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the validity of the design method.

Repetitive control is a specialized control scheme to track and/or attenuate a periodic reference trajectory and/or disturbance. Most researches about repetitive control have been performed in the frequency domain. Recently, several approaches to deal with repetitive control systems in the state space are developed by representing a q filter as a state-space equation. This paper presents a design method of a repetitive control system in the state space to satisfy $H_{\infty}$ performance. The overall system is composed of a plant, a repetitive controller, and a state-feedback controller, which can be converted to a standard form used in $H_{\infty}$ control. A LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality)-based stability condition is derived for fixed state-feedback gains. Under a given q filter, another LMI condition is derived to improve $H_{\infty}$ performance and is employed to find state-feedback gains by solving an optimization problem. Finally, to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, a numerical example is demonstrated.

This paper considers the problems of robust decentralized control for uncertain discrete-time large-scale systems with delays in interconnections and state feedback gain perturbations. Based on the Lyapunov method, the state feedback control design for robust stability is given in terms of solutions to a linear matrix inequality (LMI), and the measure of non-fragility in controller is presented. The solutions of the LMI can be easily obtained using efficient convex optimization techniques. A numerical example is included to illustrate the design procedures.
This paper focuses on congestion control for ATM network with uncertain time-variant delays. The time-variant delays can be distinguished into two distinct components. The first one is represented by time-variant queueing delays in the intermediate switches that are occurred in the return paths of RM cells. The next one is a forward path delay. It is solved by the VBR model which quantifies the data propagation from the sources to the switch. Robust $H_8$ control is studied for solving congestion problem with norm-bounded time-varying uncertain parameters. The suitable robust $H_8$ controller is obtained from the solution of a convex optimization problem through LMI technique.

The guaranteed cost control problem for a class of linear systems with norm-bounded time-varying parameter uncertainties and input constraints is considered. A sufficient condition for the existence of guaranteed cost state feedback controllers is derived via the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, and a design procedure to guaranteed cost controllers is given. Furthermore, a convex optimization problem is formulated to determine the optimal guaranteed cost controller. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

In this paper, we propose a non-fragile guaranteed cost controller design method for uncertain linear systems with constant delyas in state. The norm bounded and time-varying uncertainties are subjected to system and controller design matrices. A quadratic cost function is considered as the performance measure for the system. Based on the Lyapunov method, an LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) optimization problem is established to design the controller which uses information of delayed state and minimizes the upper bound of the quadratic cost function for all admissible system uncertainties and controller gain variations. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, we use the modified gaussian kernel function as clustering distance measure and recast the given hyper-ellipsoidal clustering problem as the optimization problem that minimizes the volume of hyper-ellipsoidal clusters, respectively and solve this using EVP (eigen value problem) that is one of the LMI (linear matrix inequality) techniques.
