A Physical Characteristics of the Iodine Doping of N-Docosylquinolinium-TCNQ Langmuir-Blodgett films (N-Docosylquinolinium-TCNQ LB 막 의 Iodine Doping에 의한 물리적 특성)

  • The present paper is devoted to the physical and electrical characteristics of N-docosyl- quinolinium-TCNQ films compared with the films doped with I$_2$. Iodine affects the degree of charge transfer and the conductivity of the films. The UV-visible absorption spectra of the film doped with I$_2$ shows that the peak of I$_3$ which had electronic transition at 300∼350nm and (TCNQ-)$_2$ dimer absorption disappered. The in-plane electrical conductivity of the films doped with I$_2$ were 1.4${\times}$10$\sub$-6/S/cm, which is two orders of magnitude higher conductivity than undoped LB films. The film structural difference between Y and Z-type may cause the conductivity. Another possible reasons of the structural difference was the overlapping TCNQ anion radical in LB films.

  • In this study, we fabricated hierarchically self-assembled thin films composed of graphene oxide (GO) sheets and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and Langmuir-Schaefer (LS) techniques and investigated their gas-sensing performance. First, a thermally oxidized silicon wafer ($Si/SiO_2$) was hydrophobized by depositing the LB films of cadmium arachidate. Thin films of ligand-capped Au NPs and GO sheets of the appropriate size were then sequentially transferred onto the hydrophobic silicon wafer using the LB and the LS techniques, respectively. Several different films were prepared by varying the ligand type, film composition, and surface pressure of the spread monolayer at the air/water interface. Their structures were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), and their gas-sensing performance for $NH_3$ and $CO_2$ was assessed. The thin films of dodecanethiol-capped Au NPs and medium-sized GO sheets had a better hierarchical structure with higher uniformity and exhibited better gas-sensing performance.

  • We carried out this experiment to observe an electrochemical properties for LB films of alkyl compounds by the cyclic voltammetry. Alkyl bromides was deposited by using the Langmuir- Blodgett method on the ITO glass. We measured to an electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 N $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV. The scan rate were 100 mV/s. As a result, an electrochemical properties of the LB films of alkyl bromides appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The diffusivity(D) effect of LB films decreased with increasing of alkyl compounds amount.

  • Recently, a study on LB ultra thin film of molecular size is widely performed. To make use of LB ultra thin film in engineering applications, it is important to investigate how uniformly Langmuir film is deposited on a substrate. In this paper, to confirm the uniformity of film deposition, the relation between the monolayer numbers deposited and its ratio is investigated by deposition of the Y type and Hetero type LB film. If films are deposited ideally, the deposition ratio will become 1.0. From the experimental results, it can be suggested that the deposition of LB film is done well, as we obtained an approximate value 1.0 by the calculation of deposition ratio of L film area and LB film deposition area.

  • LB layers L-$\alpha$-DLPC deposited by LB method were deposited onto n-type silicon wafer as Z-type film. Films made up of 8, 16 layers of lipid with long alkyl chain and the thickness of monolayer and multiayers was determined by ellipsometry. Ut was deposited Ag and Al onto LB layers and silicon wafer for electrode and small electrode exhibit high capacitiance and low lekage current. The C-V curves of the MLS capacitor shows very high saturation value of capacitance. And cross-sectional SEM image of MLD capacitor indicated the presence of pore with Al electrode and we found that the Ag is good for electrode metal.

  • The characterization of organic Metal/Insulator/Metal(MIM) devices were investigated from LB films. The physicochemical properties of the LB films were by UV absorption spectrum and AFM. We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 2, 10, 30[mN/ml The stable images are probably due to a strong interaction between the monolayer film and glass substrate. We are unable to obtain molecule resolution in images of the films but did see a marked contrast between images of the bare substrate and those with the network structure film deposited onto it.

  • Dendrimers represent a new class of synthetic macromolecules characterized by a regularly branched treelike structure. Peculiar features of the dendritic geometry are the large number of end groups as well as the shape persistence in higher generations, approaching spherical geometry. And one of the most peculiar characteristics of dendritic macromolecules is their controlled molecular structure and orientation, which means that they have a practical application in achieving a highly organized molecular arrangement. We attempted to fabricate a G4-48PyA dendrimer LB films containing 48 pyridinealdoxime functional end group that could form a complex structure with metal ions. Also, we investigated the surface activity of dendrimer films at air-water interface. And we have studied the electrical properties of the ultra-thin dendrimer LB films. The electrical properties of the ultra-thin dendrimer LB films were investigated by studying the current-voltage characteristics of metal/dendrimer LB films/metal (MIM) structure. And rectifying behavior of the devices was occurred in applied field.

  • We investigated an electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayer films of sphingomyelin(SP) and polyamic acid(PAA) mixture(1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 molar ratio). LB monolayer films of mixture was deposited by the LB method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system in 0.1N $KClO_4$ solution. As a result, LB monolayer films of SP and PAA mixture was appeared on irreversible process caused by the reduction current from the cyclic voltammogram. Diffusion coefficient(D) in the SP and PAA mixture was calculated $2.670{\times}10^{-5}$, $3.562{\times}10^{-5}$ and $1.005{\times}10^{-5}cm^2s^{-1}$ at 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 molar ratio, respectively.

As a result, LB monolayer films of sphingomyelin and polyamic acid mixture was appeared on irreversible process caused by the reduction current from the cyclic voltammogram. Diffusion coefficient (D) in the sphingomyelin and polyamic acid mixture was calculated $2.67cm^2s^{-1}{\times}10^5$, $5.23cm^2s^{-1}{\times}10^6$ at 0.1 N and 0.2 N $KClO_4$ solutions, respectively.

LB films of polyamic acid and phospholipid monolayer were deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) in $KClO_4$ solution. As a result, monolayer LB films of polyamic acid and phospholipid mixture was appeared on irreversible process caused by the reduction current from the cyclic voltammogram. Diffusion coefficient (D) effect in the polyamic acid and phospholipid mixture was used in the LAPC with LLPC fewer than the diffusion coefficient values.
