A Study on the Planning Strategy of Tenant Variety and Placement for Urban Entertainment Center (도심 쇼핑센터(UEC)의 테넌트 구성 및 배치계획에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest planning strategy of tenant mix for UEC based on the final result of tenant mix analysis of five different research cases. The following is the comprehensive explanation about the result of tenant mix planning strategy for UEC currently in operation and when planning a new facility. First, overall research cases in this study show the tendency of following an old tradition, which stresses direct sales focusing on retail and dining adaptation. In order to compensate the defect, it is suggested to adopt new type of tenants with the functional mix of retail and dining with entertainment rather than decreasing the proportion of retail and dining tenant and increasing it of entertainment tenant. Second, the floorplan of UEC should adopt racetrack or circuit form that can stimulate shoppers' circular movement so to expose them to as much tenants as possible. Service consumption mode related tenants are required to place on the side or the edge of UEC, while retail consumption mode related tenants should be planned in the center. Among dining consumption mode related tenants, impulse dining tenants like a coffee shop should be placed at the turning point or at the end of the pathway, destination tenants like a restaurant and a food court, on the other hand, is needed to be placed in the center of the space. In case of Entertainment related tenants, destination tenants like bookstore or multiplex should also be placed at the end of the pathway, and on the way to those tenants, it is required to place general tenants that can share target customers with them. On the contrary, game center or record shop like tenants that can stimulate impulse sales should be placed on the visitor's main move or near the other destination tenants. Third, anchor tenants play an important role in gathering people to the UEC, and then induce them to visit the other tenants that are located near the anchors. Thus it is suggested to plan to place general tenants on the same floor as anchor tenants are placed so they can share the characteristics of target customers which create synergy effect.

  • To attain competitiveness in the severe competition of retailing, retailing firm like Aekyung department store composites multiplex entertainment shopping mall with other firms as key tenants like LG supermarket, Books Libro, and CGV. But in multiplex entertainment shopping mall customers who have experienced a service failure in key tenant's shops usually ask a compensation of service failure to the lessor like department store. Even though customers of multiplex entertainment shopping mall know that key tenants use different service strategy, personnel management system and operation system and so on, they do not rare of it. Why they do that? How can we explain this situation? This study explains customer's complaining behaviors in multiplex entertainment shopping mall using attribution theory and justice theory. The study presents a comprehensive model about the effects of the perceived attribution and fairness on customer satisfaction and suggests practical implications for retailing firms composing multiplex entertainment shopping mall.

A Study on the pattern of tenant layout in the Urban Entertainment Center (도심 엔터테인먼트 쇼핑센터(UEC)의 테넌트 배치 형태에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern of tenant layout for selected cases of five different Urban Entertainment Center(UEC) in Seoul. This research deals with the process of gaining tenant layout pattern of 40 different types. It is composed of three combination unit with tenants of the same or different consumption mode, which is divided into four different functions of retail, entertainment, dining, and service. Then, every tenant of research cases is classified as one of the fabric type, and the data is analyzed to gain its frequency rate with SPSS 14.0 program. The following is the overall explanation of the result for this research. The frequency of tenant layout pattern between the same consumption mode shows the high rate when compared to the other patterns with different consumption mode. For example, the frequency rate of tenant layout pattern which retail and dining consumption mode are placed side by side like RRR and DDD is high. Interestingly, the frequency rate of RRR type of tenant layout pattern that sells the similar products shows especially high level. It can provide the effective environment for shoppers to compare retail goods in many different stores as producing synergic effects when they are located near each other, so this strategy should be considered when planning tenants in UEC environment. Moreover, in case of dining tenants, when they are clustered together in the UEC environment it can play a role as an anchor tenant. Tenant layout pattern of dining-retail and dining-service consumption mode shows the high frequency rate than other layout pattern with other consumption mode. Besides, entertainment consumption tenants combined with dining or retail tenants show the high frequency rate when compared to the pattern combined with service consumption mode.

Differences across Types of web Navigation Value and Shopping Mall in Evaluation of website attributes for Apparel Shopping (인터넷 탐색가치와 인터넷 쇼핑물 유형에 따른 의류제품 쇼핑 웹사이트 속성 평가의 차이)

  • The purposes of this studs were 1) to identify web navigation values and classify consumers based on these values and 2) to determine differences between consumer groups and between types of shopping mall in evaluation of website attributes when shopping apparel. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 204 male and female students who experienced shopping at the website, living in Cheju and analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis and t-test. Two factors of navigation value were found and labeled as; information value and entertainment value. Two groups were identified based on navigation value; users of information value (53%) and users of entertainment value (47%). Significant differences between two groups were found in evaluating website attributes selling products of various types regarding apparel products and processes for information search, order and payment. However, for shopping mall website selling only apparel products, differences between two groups were not significant in evaluating most attributes except for two items to evaluate apparel products. Differences between shopping mall types (shopping malls selling products of various types and selling only apparel product) were significant in evaluation of internet users of information value regarding attributes of apparel products while differences between shopping mall types were not significant in evaluation of users of entertainment value regarding all attributes. Internet users of information value showed favor to shopping mall website of department store type chi e internet users of entertainment value showed favor to shopping mall website selling only apparel products.

Mobile Phone Dependency, Motivations and Effects of Mobile Phone Usage Among Korean Adolescents (청소년의 휴대전화 의존, 이용동기 및 결과에 관한 연구)

  • A mobile phone usage survey was administered to a nationwide sample of 3,617 adolescents. Major motivations of mobile phone usage were mobility/real-time connection, show off, information acquisition, entertainment, dialogue, schedule management, and advice. Maintenance of social relationship with the peer group was most important in mobile phone use. Motivations influenced mobile phone dependency : show off had the strongest influence on anxiety/paranoia followed by dialogue, entertainment, mobility/real-time connection. Without their phones, fashion-oriented adolescents showed mobile phone dependency and anxiety. Stronger dialogue and entertainment motivations were associated with weaker real time connection motivation and stronger paranoia symptoms. Mobile phone dependent adolescents had lower grades, showed lack of attention, had little dialogue with their parents and showed withdrawal from the peer group.

Intelligent Lighting Control using Wireless Sensor Networks for Media Production

  • We present the design and implementation of a unique sensing and actuation application -- the Illuminator: a sensor network-based intelligent light control system for entertainment and media production. Unlike most sensor network applications, which focus on sensing alone, a distinctive aspect of the Illuminator is that it closes the loop from light sensing to lighting control. We describe the Illuminator's design requirements, system architecture, algorithms, implementation and experimental results. The system uses the Illumimote, a multi-modal and high fidelity light sensor module well-suited for wireless sensor networks, to satisfy the high-performance light sensing requirements of entertainment and media production applications. The Illuminator system is a toolset to characterize the illumination profile of a deployed set of fixed position lights, generate desired lighting effects for moving targets (actors, scenic elements, etc.) based on user constraints expressed in a formal language, and to assist in the set up of lights to achieve the same illumination profile in multiple venues. After characterizing deployed lights, the Illuminator computes optimal light settings at run-time to achieve a user-specified actuation profile, using an optimization framework based on a genetic algorithm. Uniquely, it can use deployed sensors to incorporate changing ambient lighting conditions and moving targets into actuation. Experimental results demonstrate that the Illuminator handles various high-level user requirements and generates an optimal light actuation profile. These results suggest that the Illuminator system supports entertainment and media production applications.

  • The latest development of the Korean drama production industry has been accompanied by the steep rise in the number of players and the contraction of the advertizing market, which have combined to intensify the competition severely. Then, China happened. Entertainment agencies' logical strategic choice to maximize production revenue potential was to secure A-list actors who can sell, pushing up their prices, that process has continued to even compromise the health of the production industry as well as the agencies' financial integrity. The drama production industry, including entertainment agencies, should shift the strategic focus from simple production revenue generation to profit maximization through diversifying revenue sources like securing IP rights.

  • UPnP AV Framework automatically integrates and manages various AV devices that are connected to network as an important component in home network. Therefore, user can access and control AV contents at any time. But, other existing home entertainment systems target multimedia service support that is based on multimedia home server system. In this paper, we propose an integrated home entertainment system (u-MUSE system) that supports remote control service. It can manage application in remote AV device or control AV contents directly in home network environment. The proposed system sufficiently performs role of control center for electronic devices in home via integrated system control and AV contents playback service.

The influence of tourism content characteristics of YouTube on destination visit intentions (유튜브 관광콘텐츠 특성이 몽골인의 관광지 선택에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study aims to determine whether four characteristics of tourism content on YouTube (i.e., entertainment; credibility; diversity; and informativeness) influence tourists' destination choices. Design/methodology/approach - A total of 201 Koreans and Mongolians who use YouTube were surveyed in the research. Validity and reliability, correlation, and regression analyze were performed in SPSS 29.0. Findings - As a result of the study, it was found that the features of YouTube tourism content, such as entertainment, credibility, and diversity, have a positive effect on tourists' choice of destination. Also, it was found that there is no difference in the perception of tourism content features between Korean and Mongolian YouTube users and it is not statistically significant. Research implications or Originality - Tourists' YouTube content shows that YouTube features such as entertainment, variety, and trustworthiness, influencing tourists' travel destination choices. The limitations of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • In this paper, a bird type biped robot for entertainment controlled by R/C servo motors, is built using the embedded RTOS (Real Time Operating System). ${\mu}C/OS-II$ V2.00 is used fur RTOS and the board 80C196KC for main CPU. A control algorithm of R/C servo motors is proposed on ${\mu}C/OS-II's$ preemptive and deterministic property without any extra PWM module. The realized biped robot has 19DOF, that is, 12DOF for both legs, 6DOF for both arms and 1DOF for neck. To verify the proper walking process, ZMP(Zero Moment Point) theory is applied and the simulation has been done by ADAMS.
